Ugly Wins Are Still People: Post-OSU Thread

Some subtle/quiet solid performances while others show a concerning trend. It's time for tempered optimism folks... Yeeeeeehaw!

We've won pretty games.  Sometimes it's the ugly games that are hardest to win.  We were tougher physically and mentally.  If we can out tough people, we can go very far!

Hugh win, great way to win, great team win.

He played very well.  His perimeter defense was damn good tonight; even the foul Craft drawed* on him was BS, as Dakich said (Craft initiated the contact and Horford was in position/on the path first).

*I had "drew" in there at first until I knew grammatically that that was wrong but typing and hearing "drawed" in my head seems even more wrong.

about this game to me. Michigan was stuck in a half court, grind it out game and won rather comfortably. That isn't the style they want to play, in fact it's a style they often struggle with. I saw a lot of growth tonight.

you people who complain about style points have no clue how exhausting these past five games in a compressed schedule are. Per NCAA rules they have to take two days off now since they have played/practiced non-stop. I think you'll see better style and defense  come Sunday when they are home and rested.

Sam Webb said during Walton's recruitment that  Derrick "has dog in his game". Tonight he was woofing!

What was ugly about that?  That's called a road win.  A good, well earned, road win.  Nothing ugly about it.

Yeah, sure GRIII is in a rut.  But only compared to expectations.  He's still making contributions at a level of a B/B+ Big Ten Player.  Meanwhile, Irvin is catching up to Walton in terms of freshmen production.  Stauskas handled the defense attention better today -- OSU has the best perimiter defenders in the conference in my opinion.  Won't comment on the gameplans compared to IU or Iowa, but the individuals are the best.  Their offense though...

Great win, and was the second hardest remaining game on paper.  Beat a difficult Wisco team at home, and spend a week preparing for the conference's most talented team in MSU.
