You post this a lot but I do not understand the purpose. Is there a cultural reference in this video?

That's our offense in a nutshell. It's goes against all logic. It makes little to no sense. It's just laughable.

Well at least the monkey and dog can work together to make positive yards
November 9th, 2013 at 8:39 PM ^
is the funniest sub-thread I have ever read. Thanks assholes, now my sides hurt.
November 9th, 2013 at 6:58 PM ^
It's been an MGoMeme for a while but I don't remember why. Most any poll in a liveblog will always have MONKEY RODEO as a choice.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:13 PM ^
It's a metaphor. The dog (we’ll name him Meat) is being forced into doing something it doesn’t want to do, which is to run around with no seeming purpose, under the direction of a stupid monkey (we’ll name him Segrob). The monkey (Segrob) represents someone who does not know exactly what he is doing, but he’s seen a lot of other monkeys riding on dogs, and is trying to use all the observed techniques, except for the ones that are against his inherent fundamental monkey principles. Instead of becoming very good at a select few of these techniques of dog-riding (say, herding sheep or jumping, or saving children from wells and such), Segrob is horrible at all of the things, except of course for the ones that he never tries due to his aforementioned monkey principles.
Meat knows that he should be better at doing stuff, but under the direction of Segrob, he’s doomed to a life of doggy-rodeo mediocrity. Meat desperately wants Segrob off its back, but Segrob won’t go unless someone mercifully steps in and removes him. Worse yet, their owner (Ekoh--it's an Inuit name, I'm pretty sure) thinks that Segrob is a nice monkey and doesn't see how useless and stupid he actually is.
It’s that or it’s just a damn monkey riding a dog to yakety sax. One or the other.

Honestly, I wanted to hold onto him and Funk as I was worried about what their firing would do to recruiting. Now I'm worried about what not firing them would do to recruiting.
November 9th, 2013 at 6:54 PM ^
Honest question: Does Borges even have anything to do with recruiting? When I hear them talk about it, he's always back at home base planning for his next horrible gameplan. Funk recruits, but if Borges does, that's news to me.
November 9th, 2013 at 6:57 PM ^
Still, bringing in a new guy breeds uncertainty around the program. I'll take uncertainty at this juncture. I'm completely certain about how things will go if they stay. Who would want to play for this offense?

I think Borges goes to see the QB recruits throw. Apparently he is also our QB coach.

November 9th, 2013 at 8:19 PM ^
the offensive coordinator should be executed
November 9th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
This has been the case for three solid weeks. At what point do you stop calling the same futile plays and start to make calls that will make the most of a young offensive line?
November 9th, 2013 at 6:47 PM ^
sarcasm. I would be in favor of the players executing the offensive coordinator at this point.

DG has regressed as a qb due to his coaching, or lack there of. Yes dileo dropped that ball but the offense scored 1 touchdown against one of the worst defenses in the country. You are trying to say coaching does not matter or that we have some of the least talented players in the country. Either agument would be incorrect.

Or how aabout Schofield on a huge 3rd down? What does he do? he lets Nebraskas best pass rusher run right by him and goes out on a island, he left Fitz out to dry that is not coaching it is stupid mental mistakes one after another
November 9th, 2013 at 7:46 PM ^
a peronal foul or jumping offsides, those are mental mistakes. The things you mentioned are fundamentals drilled into a players brain through coaching, well normally anyways.

I just had the exact same thought. A blown assignment is a blown assignment. By your logic coaching is infallable. And in case you haven't noticed.. you are pretty much alone in that. Well, I guess you have Space Coyote in your corner lulz

My understanding was that he scrambled right b/c no one was open, I have not watched the replay so I'm not sure.

Are you a mod? if not, we really do need to have a thread like this.
November 9th, 2013 at 6:39 PM ^
Not a mod, but if there isn't a big thread about it there will be a lot of little ones about it.
November 9th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
In before the delete, though
November 9th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
How can this thread not stay up? It is most certainly warranted and needs to be discussed.
November 9th, 2013 at 6:46 PM ^
I think if you put "snowflake" in the title they can't take it down.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:50 PM ^
but thinking that opinion was out there just crossed my mind. The point is that we want broad thread topics after games; if not, we're going to have hour old threads pushed off the front page with the amount of content that would get generated.
That's where we take a look and remove a thread that says, "these are my expectations for the offense" but maybe keep one that exists to invite discussions of everybody's expectations for offense. That's it. Not our opinions on the subject matter, nothing like that, just whether it's worth the limited real estate on the board.
November 10th, 2013 at 1:54 AM ^
I was sort of joking but I did wonder where the snowflake thing came from. It seemed to just pop up suddenly and those threads did remain.

game was over when we had two gift wrapped drives inside the 35 and got 3 points.
