Mgoblog half decade club
RDT. Nuff said
Any story from CRex is always top notch. The MGoProfile series is also a good read. As far a new stuff on the blog, I really enjoy This Wek in the Twitterverse.
And lastly, Commitapalooza 2012 and Hello: ____ are like oxygen...
The Only Thing Corey Liuget and I Will Ever Have In Common will always have a place in my heart. It brought incredible levity to a sad time in Michigan Football. And it helped coin the term "dong punch" on this blog.
My MGoBirthday is tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it.
The first thing I think about when it comes to MGoBlog is Mike Cox.
I'm not going to lie...It's kind of creepy that the first thing that you think about when it comes to MGoBlog is Mike Cox. I mean, I'm a fan of Mike Cox too, but a complete stranger sharing that same fandom just...ugh.
Yeah. I wish he would have produced!
first thing I think of is Jack Meehof
Congrat's Magnus, will you be eating your cake warm, cold, or room temperature?
Eleven Swans. Still one of the best posts Brian has written.
5 points in 5 years?
Your restraint is admirable.
On that note, I'm just going to add this comment to get my 1000th point. :)
I am laconic.
I just made the cut at 5 years and 2 days. Really have to give it up to Brian for keeping this thing going.
Strangely, I remember the exact day I signed up.
There was a certain beauty to Haloscan... I feel like it should be brought back from time to time just for posterity's sake, although the site is probably too big to handle it at this point. At least live blogs are sort of a proxy for those days.
The absolute anarchy of Haloscan was awesome to behold.
You're right, it was like a permanent Live Blog about everything, all at once. The Michigan fan base's collective stream of consciousness.
I was on vacation in the U.P. and was without internet access for several days. When I finally was able to get online the entire site had changed and signing up was a no-brainer.
Haloscan was awesome for its time. The Haloscan thread on David Terrell and his B.A.D. was truly gold. Also I think there was a great thread on snowball fights in the quad with football players but I could be mixing things up.
I may only be 3 and 1/2 in MGoYears, but Eleven Swans was outstanding writing. Also, UFRs have changed the way I watch football. I never played, and thanks to this site I understand so much more about the game. Also, Muppets
Never played football either, but thanks to UFR I sorta know what a reach block is.
Considering you were around for the pos bang days, I have to assume that you meant "once per year" when you said you don't post much? I feel like you should get an award for only accumulating 33 point over the course of 5 years, it's quite a feat.
So accounts that aren't very active can lose points quickly
I see. Out of my own curiousity, is there any way that I can see how many posts I've created? I'm not sure I'd care to know, but it would still interest me.
Member for 4 years and 40 weeks, first two posts (besides this one) were 2 weeks ago. :)
Holy Mother of God.
What exactly happened two weeks ago that compelled you to post that did not happen the four years and 38 weeks before that?
I have to assume it was one of the 374 threads charging Meyer with murder.
I'm more or less like everyone else -- on this site all the time, huge Michigan fan, alum, football and basketball season ticket holder, etc. But for whatever reason I haven't felt like I've had a whole lot to add to most of the discussions, I'm more read-only I guess. Two weeks ago was the thread on how the local Detroit teams never draft Michigan players, and while that was true, part of the thread dealt with Michigan guys who even just played on the local teams (not that they were drafted). I had two obscure names I wanted to add to the list.
Haha, I feel like I've been reprimanded. I promise I'll try to post more often, like once every two years now!
I don't have much to add either, but my inner narcissist compels me to post.
You just doubled your point total in one morning. That's impressive.
Keep up the good work.
I've got to think that you're (we're) part of a huge majority of readers. Heck, I've been lurking around for 5 years, but only joined when I thought I had something original to add. I don't choose to pile onto the posts where most everyone is violently agreeing ("yeah... that was a terrible call" ), I choose not to reveal what I'm drinking on Friday (or any other day), and I sure as hell don't have anything to add to the expert discussion on whether a HS junior projects to SAM, WILL, or MIKE.
But I do enjoy reading the posts apparently, as I'm on the site just about every day.
Pretty much the same situation here. I don't have a lot to say on the board but I check it several times a day.
- 5 years 2 weeks
I just passed the 4-year mark with an account, but I've been on here pretty much every day since Fall 2006 and have rarely posted due to the demands of law school, then work, and now work and 2 young boys.
My favorite MGoBlog moment is whenever Brian mentions Jim Grobe when discussing the 2007 coaching search, as I'm the poor fool who suggested via email he might not be a bad choice.
Not a poster either, but a reader almost every day for last 4 years
Last game as a student, wasn't leaving that one early.
I remember being so cold during that game to like clap/scream to make noise so we just turned our shoes on the bleachers to make noise.
I'm still mad about Donovan Warren's pick six...
That was my senior year. I was there until the end, watching the band's post-game show with two friends. One simply said "It's not supposed to be like this" with such a heart-stopping solemnity that I will never forget it.
My first ever game, Mom asked me if I wanted to leave at halftime and I looked at her like she was the least intelligent person on the face of the earth. Her question did not deserve an answer; I simply turned around and continued to watch the game.
the Great Malware Disaster of 2011. Unless you're thinking of the other time.
Those were dark times.
Hands down the original Lloyd Brady thread. Never laughed so hard in my life. Anyone have a link? I can't find it.
I may be wrong, as it's obviously been some time, but I don't believe this is the original thread that I'm referring to. I believe it was a totally unrelated post, and someone noticed and pointed out the man we all now know as Lloyd Brady in a picture. The one that you link to is basically a continuation of that thread.
Brian should send you a tshirt for the thousands of hits you have generated on his site over the years.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time, several months prior to my official membership date.
Also, all the hoo-ha surrounding EEEEEEEBarwis.
