OT: 2013 - Parole Tide (4 Bama players arrested....for real crimes)
February 12th, 2013 at 11:20 AM ^
Perhaps Terrell Pryor was right after all...
February 12th, 2013 at 11:22 AM ^
Magically, they were exactly 4 players over the scholly limit.., just a theory.

I think I read that one of those kids was an all SEC freshman. I think he may be safe. The others better start dustinf off their list of JUCO's to see where they may end up next year.
February 12th, 2013 at 11:22 AM ^
Saban should be able to use this to clear scholarships up to the 27 kids taking a gray shirt right now.
February 12th, 2013 at 11:23 AM ^
Know what Nick Saban calls this?
"Natural Selection."
February 12th, 2013 at 11:48 AM ^
Someone in the comments at SBNation site Roll "Bama Roll gets the credit.

This is why the SEC needs to be allowed to oversign. Every year, you know you're going to have a handful of your players arrested for violent felonies
February 12th, 2013 at 11:30 AM ^
I wonder if each player will be dealt with differently depending on how they will contribute to the football team.

that you need to be a very brave person to work at a convenience store these days, perhaps braver than a lobster fisherman or a long distance freight hauler.
"Williams was also arrested Sunday. A separate police report says that arrest stemmed from an incident at a convenience store in which a clerk called police and told them Williams was "acting erratic and threatening that he had something in the trunk of his vehicle after a dispute about paying for gas."
this stuff has to happen all the time.
February 12th, 2013 at 11:35 AM ^
They'd stand half of a chance. Then again, McCarron would likely get a one game suspension and the other 4 would transfer to McNiese State for family reasons.
February 12th, 2013 at 3:24 PM ^
...is raging mad at you. McNeese State.
February 12th, 2013 at 11:36 AM ^
Maybe you could expand with some thoughts/info, rather than just a link. That's just my preference when reading posts, though.
February 12th, 2013 at 12:08 PM ^
I just wanted to direct you to the actual news, which was concise. I even included a little pun...what more do you want from me??????
February 12th, 2013 at 12:37 PM ^
lol I did like the pun.
February 12th, 2013 at 11:39 AM ^
Roll Tide!
February 12th, 2013 at 11:39 AM ^
This is ridiculous. Anything ever happen to players there that contribute, or only to players that will free up scholarships for others?
February 12th, 2013 at 11:44 AM ^
February 12th, 2013 at 11:39 AM ^
...Roll Tide.
February 12th, 2013 at 1:21 PM ^
so I have to say that made me "LLOL" as Novak would say (literally laughing out loud).
February 12th, 2013 at 11:41 AM ^
Bama is really going to miss them for the first quarter of the season opener (possibly to be moved to the Nov. 23 game against Chattanooga).

Serious crime by a bunch of idiots, not to mention this crime has a real victim.

Aggression is probably a side effect of deer antler spray

10% to a bondsman and you can always use your house as collateral.
February 12th, 2013 at 12:10 PM ^
They'll end up paying a couple grand for the service. Bail bond companies have no problems putting up bail for people like Alabama football players since they know theyll show up for court and get the 60k back.

...has a little more detail on both attacks right here.
"According to depositions filed by UA police officers, D.J. Pettway, Eddie Williams and Tyler Hayes punched a student's head and face and kicked him in the ribs and back area."
...and then they took his backpack and laptop. If that wasn't enough:
"In a second robbery, Williams admitted to police that he punched a student's head and face while Pettway and Hayes stood by and watched."
...this was the attack which involved the stealing of the credit card.
Recruiting for character apparently is not a problem if you don't in fact do it, I would think. I really hope these guys find their way off the team. This is awful, and I hope the victims recover fully and speedily.

February 12th, 2013 at 1:48 PM ^
Obviously Saban isn't paying them enough, so they've resorted to crime to make it by.
Rob, Tide, Rob!
February 12th, 2013 at 1:59 PM ^
Idiots. You'd think this would be a lose-lose for all involved, but Saban always benefits.

I just upvoted this for "parole tide". very clever.

Lacerations and concussions? Sounds like four medical redshirts to me!

One of the players was a 5 star last year (ESPN) listed as an athlete.

He has to get kicked off the team, right?

I played against both DJ Pettway and Eddie Williams in high school (my claim to fame is that I once tackled him) and they were both studs obviously, along with being super dirty players. It doesn't come as much of a surprise to me to see this happen as DJ hails from inner city Pensacola, FL and Eddie inner city Panama City, FL and some questionable family situations.
Also props to the OP for "Parole Tide"

and serious stuff at that. don't know the sentencing guidelines in bama, but if they have priors as juveniles (highly likely these are not 'starter' crimes') they could end up in the joint. bad ju-ju.
