My sport management class is currently discussing the business of college sports. Interesting story

Damn that Towson coach is pissed
This is a really good feature on how football brings the big bucks to college programs
November 18th, 2012 at 8:41 PM ^
At least our fans (except the students) show up better than SEC SEC SEC schools against baby seals

I gotta say this makes our program look pretty incredible.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:01 PM ^
completely agree. they could've explained the leadership aspect of the navy seals experience better, but other than that, pretty pleased.

That was a great piece. You couldn't of bought that advertisment for a million dollars.Brady and Brandon making Michigan fans out of everyone.
November 18th, 2012 at 8:48 PM ^
What a great spotlight for the program and university, Brandon probably set it up so we have to give him credit, albeit begrudgingly.

So...I missed it, because my DVR recording of 60 Minutes ended before our segment aired...thanks, NFL game. Any chance CBS will post this on their website?

Well that highlighted a lot of the very real concerns with "amateur" athletics without being a hatchet job. Color me pleasently surprised.
November 18th, 2012 at 8:53 PM ^
Suck it freep -- that was awesoMe!!!
November 18th, 2012 at 8:54 PM ^
...is that Mike Wallace, the gentleman who created 60 Minutes, is a Michigan alum. I wonder if the current producers remembered that when the decided to pick out a school for this segment.
He also donated a house to the post-graduate Journalism Fellowship that operates on the edge of campus. I used to do contract IT work there, and I had the chance to meet Mr. Wallace while clad in my orange Hawaiian shirt and jeans, shortly after I'd been falsely accused of robbing the Union.
/end cool story bro

I ventured over there just so see what they were saying, and besides a "LOL Hoke is FAT!!!" thread, I saw a thread about getting turned on by the Verizon commercial where the wife sends a dirty video to her husband.
There's days I'm really glad that MGoBlog is the way it is, and today is one of those days

I wasn't able to watch tonight, but reading through this thread reminded me of a broken play that Denard turns to gold.
"No...no...no....NONONONONO....wait......yes....Yes...OMGYESYESYES"
I'm happy to see most people thought it was good.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
I cringed when Denard agreed with the reporter's leading question that football is 24hrs a day.
I can imagine the Free Press filing for an investigation with the NCAA.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
and of course valenti chimes in and gets PWN'ed in the process.
RT @mikevalenti971: UM football bring in $90M Denard seas 0 of it -> yeah the but the UM degree helps him know it should be SEES
November 18th, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
November 18th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
pwned? What are you, like 12?
November 19th, 2012 at 8:12 AM ^
Yes, because Michigan State is instituting profit-sharing for their players, because we all know that Dantonio puts the welfare of his players above anything else....oh wait, evidence seems to indicate that ISN'T true.
For Valenti to suggest that Michigan operates it's athletic department in a manner less ethically than any other program is disingenuous and hypocritical. What a jealous, petty asshole.

You guys have got to check out the ~4:50 mark... a guy tried to get a mini "touch the banner" made so that when his wife gives birth and the baby comes out, the first thing the baby sees is the banner. Classic!
November 18th, 2012 at 10:05 PM ^
Genius. Pure genius.
November 18th, 2012 at 10:14 PM ^
What's scary is there will be a lot of people copying this idea now. And with facebook and blogs like this I'm certain we'll be seeing pics. haha....
November 18th, 2012 at 10:19 PM ^
Hells yeah...
Unfortunately, I cannot imagine too many women being pleased with the prospect of having their hoo ha framed by "Go Blue, M Club Supports You" while they are crowning.
