...I used to love hanging out at Tower, Wherehouse, and Wazoo between classes, or going down to get the hot new releases at midnight. The best part was that all three stores had their own unique character and space to hang out in. It also sucks that the Borders at Liberty and Maynard is gone. I used to love hanging out there as well. |

If we are going to be subjected to another all-SEC BCS title game, I'd like to see UGA sneak in and pull off the upset. |

...is that Mike Wallace, the gentleman who created 60 Minutes, is a Michigan alum. I wonder if the current producers remembered that when the decided to pick out a school for this segment. He also donated a house to the post-graduate Journalism Fellowship that operates on the edge of campus. I used to do contract IT work there, and I had the chance to meet Mr. Wallace while clad in my orange Hawaiian shirt and jeans, shortly after I'd been falsely accused of robbing the Union. /end cool story bro |

...the most academically overrated school out there. I've dealt with multiple recent GT EE grads with > 3.5 GPAs and I'm not impressed at all with their problem solving ability or critical thinking skills. The engineering grads from UM, PSU, and several other lesser known schools I could name have all impressed me far more than GT grads. |

Why? That's just lil' old Anna Watson, an UGA cheerleader who Yahoo! was trying to push as some kind of saint a few weeks ago. Supposedly she turned down a $75k fitness modelling contract because she refused to take an illegal steroid... Personally, I have some oceanfront property in Colorado that I'd love to sell to the good folks at Yahoo! for a fabulous price! |

...BUT it's not halftime. It's more like the 2-minute warning, and America is down 100-0 vs REALITY. Halftime would've been an accurate analogy for Clint to make in the '70s or early '80s. I thought Madonna's pseudo-Imperial Roman/Cleopatra styled entrance was dead to rights. I'm not sure if she meant to be ironic with that or not. I can't bash Fiat for taking on Chrysler, because Chrysler probably would've been gone if Fiat hadn't gotten in the game. Marchionne has actually done a far better job with Chrysler than most auto pundits have predicted. I do wonder how much of Eastwood's motivation was monetary versus his fond memories of filming "Gran Torino" around Detroit. He has gone on public record that his experiences on that shoot were very positive, and he was impressed with the hospitality of the locals. We'll probably never know. I hate Eminem, particularly because there are so many other hip-hop and rap artists from Detroit that create much better tunes and carry much heavier street cred. As for the 200, it is a bit 'blah' in the looks department, but the new 263 hp Pentastar V6 is a winner. It makes the top trim level 200s terrific sleepers that run uncomfortable close to the heavier 5.7L Hemi V8 cars. Honda's Ferris Bueller ad was awful, and Broderick should be ashamed for defliing a legendary character in a classic film. Most of the other car ads were just flat out dumb. |

Ali's comments about Frazier look even more vile when you consider that Smokin' Joe gave Ali a ton of help and money during Ali's three year suspension. Heck, Frazier even lobbied for Ali to get reinstated as soon as possible so he could defend his title against Ali in the ring. |

This type of injury is no joke. In my own limited experience I've strained that area of my right foot several times. The way my body is connected the episodes send a shooting pain up my shin into my right knee. This tends to put any thoughts of running out of my mind. I can't even imagine what a full-up sprain or fracture feels like day-to-day, and playing any kind of competitive sport with this type of injury seems impossible to me. Kudos to RVB and his toughness! |

I'm totally biased, but I'd say top 5, maybe top 3. Brady's achievements become even more impressive when you consider that for most of his career he hasn't had a first rate weapon like Jerry Rice at WR except for the three seasons Randy Moss was on the NE roster. |

...that part of Michigan, there's nothing like it on Earth. Leelanau and Old Mission have turned into terrific wine regions, and there is a terrific Friday night perch fry at the Western Ave Grill in Glen Arbor. I was a little surprised he cited Glen Lake because Torch Lake up the coast tends to get more recognition. For example, I've seen National Geographic give props to Torch Lake as being the most beautiful. As for the Mackinac Bridge, there is an episode of "Modern Marvels" that goes into its construction. It was an utterly epic engineering triumph. |

Hoke makes a great point that I've encountered in my own life. Even if I think I know a topic or technique well it's surprising how much benefit I've found from going back and revisiting the basic key points of the subject. |

...I would like to see a little more love for Coach Wellman because he did a heck of a job putting a tough, physical, healthy team on the field this past season. I get that Barwis has a lot more "personality", but let's give some credit ti the guy who is quietly and effectively executing his job as the current S&C Coach for Michigan Football. |

| 1 year 19 weeks ago | Agreed |
And I would at that for all their faults, at least Miami knew who they were and did not try to hide or live down that reputation. On top of all their other sins, PSU have turned out to be the worst sort of hypocrites. |

...an in-stater like me and your parents make too much for schollies but not enough to pay tuition without a second thought the value represented by the University of Michigan is really hard to look past for many degree programs. The other cool thing for a lot of in-state folks is that it's far enough from home, but not so far that you have to deal with complete and total culture shock. It's also nice having fairly convenient access to the family support system because a lot of us, me included, simply aren't ready to be totally 100% independent in our late teens. |

Basically it's a wash, unless you buy into all of Sparty's claimed MNCs...then you could almost make the case that A&M is a step down. |

During Orientation I met a girl who graduated from Catholic school and intended to pursue an Engineering degree. All I will say is that she promptly partied her way to a 0.87 (or was it 0.087?) GPA during the ensuing fall semester. Wow. |

....about ND being clearly academically better than PSU. I've recently interviewed some PSU EE grads that were pretty sharp and well-prepared. Whoever is running their EE program seems to have a good grasp of what is required to prepared new grads for current professional practice. Now, I've never had the chance to speak with an ND engineering student, but based on what I've read their Engineering program is not one of the more significant programs at their institution. |

Just dropping by to state that I really like what Coach Wellman has done with our conditioning and how he has gone about implementing his program quietly and effectively. He really seems to "get" B1G conditioning at every position on the field, and I hope he has many productive years in AA as part of Coach Hoke's staff. |

...this terrific find. Just reading it you can tell that the people who wrote and approved that policy "get" the management of the Michigan brand in a big time way. This is the kind of outlook that gets us ranked among the top 20 universities in the world and that will keep us there. |
