Just saw Winter Classic highlights on France 24 (French BBC) at my apartment here in North Africa.
The commentators were both complementary of the stadium, but they were (understandably) not enthused about the weather.
If only the fing Wings could have pulled out the W.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||Yeah...||
....but look at the talent on the Wings alumni teams versus the Leafs. Not even in the same league.
Sundin is about the only Leafs guy that could hang with Detroit's best.

...two main reasons a lot of baseball teams are going to artificial surfaces
1) Money. Over the long-term is is far, far cheaper to maintain an artificial surface than to pay a full-time groundskeeping staff and the costs of maintaining a high-quality sod surface.
2) Flexibility. Because artificial surfaces are much less sensitive to temperature, moisture, etc., they can endure much heavier use cycles. This means that the team can spend a lot more time on the actual field practicing instead of having to find an alternative site or forego practice altogether.

...I was on campus for my summer job with ITD in 2001 and the girl I was dating at the time took me to see "The Fast & The Furious" for my birthday even though she wasn't into cars at all. I like cars so I found it and most of the sequels hugely entertaining.
|13 weeks 6 days ago||Yeah...||
...Funchess singled up with Butt going to the back and Gallon to the front on the opposite side would've been the perfect playcall after the OSU TO.
|13 weeks 6 days ago||The only...||
...thing I can think of is that we spent large portions of time earlier in the season specifically preparing for OSU. That is the only rational explanation I can come up with when comparing Michigan's offense today vs. what we saw vs. PSU, MSU, NEB, NW, and Iowa.
|13 weeks 6 days ago||With regard to the final...||
...2 pt conversion I think Michigan's best option was tossing up a jump ball for Funchess in the corner of the endzone. Credit to OSU for completely sniffing out the final playcall and covering it well.
|13 weeks 6 days ago||I have the...||
...exact same question.
Michigan looked like a completely different team compared to what we saw against MSU, NW, NEB, and Iowa.
Is that because we spent a large portion of those weeks specifically preparing for OSU?

...but in many ways Brady is already an on-field coach.
However, after his playing days are over I see him being more interested in an announcing gig or parlaying his last name into a brand like Beckham has done.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||Your intuition...||
...is 100% correct about the "tinge" in Ohio.
In the excellent "Michigan: A History of the Wolverine State" written by Bruce Catton the settlement patterns of Michigan and Ohio are discussed.
The bulk of settlers in Michigan came from western NY and New England with a sprinkling of folks from the southern states. In Ohio a far higher proportion of folks came from areas that correspond to the rural parts of the Carolinas and Virginias. I'd say that this is what accounts for the "tinge" that we see here in 2013.

Sadly they are totally unacceptable as home unis in the Big House.

Disgusting and offensive.
If Bo were still with us, he'd have Michigan ready to put NW through the turf for wearing this travesty.

In Rochester, NY the Brickwood on Monroe Ave is owned by a HUGE Michigan fan and he always has the games on. There are some alumni and fans that watch, but I'm not sure if the place is 'official'.
I've also heard that the Thirsty Turtle, near Victor, NY is a Michigan-friendly place, but I've never really gone there to find out.
|20 weeks 5 hours ago||Sounds like a heck of a coach||
He must be a great coach if he's been effective meeting the needs of male and female athletes across so many different sports with such varied strength and conditioning needs. Glad he's nominated, hope he wins!

...I used to love hanging out at Tower, Wherehouse, and Wazoo between classes, or going down to get the hot new releases at midnight. The best part was that all three stores had their own unique character and space to hang out in. It also sucks that the Borders at Liberty and Maynard is gone. I used to love hanging out there as well.

....but at least USC doesn't try to pretend to be something they're not.
If we are going to be subjected to another all-SEC BCS title game, I'd like to see UGA sneak in and pull off the upset.

...is that Mike Wallace, the gentleman who created 60 Minutes, is a Michigan alum. I wonder if the current producers remembered that when the decided to pick out a school for this segment.
He also donated a house to the post-graduate Journalism Fellowship that operates on the edge of campus. I used to do contract IT work there, and I had the chance to meet Mr. Wallace while clad in my orange Hawaiian shirt and jeans, shortly after I'd been falsely accused of robbing the Union.
/end cool story bro

...the most academically overrated school out there.
I've dealt with multiple recent GT EE grads with > 3.5 GPAs and I'm not impressed at all with their problem solving ability or critical thinking skills.
The engineering grads from UM, PSU, and several other lesser known schools I could name have all impressed me far more than GT grads.

That's just lil' old Anna Watson, an UGA cheerleader who Yahoo! was trying to push as some kind of saint a few weeks ago. Supposedly she turned down a $75k fitness modelling contract because she refused to take an illegal steroid...
Personally, I have some oceanfront property in Colorado that I'd love to sell to the good folks at Yahoo! for a fabulous price!
