Plans for Wife Day?
So we now face the grim reality that Michigan does not have a game tomorrow. The bye week has become, as many of you are aware, known as Wife Day on this blog. What are your plans? Anything particularly special for the wife?
Not having a wife, mine are as follows:
9:00-11:00: Get caught up on Breaking Bad.
11:00-12:00: Keep on truckin'.
12:00-3:30: Try to reach enlightenment and/or light workout.
3:30-6:30: Watch OSU v. MSU.
6:30-8:00: Check up on the moonshine still.
8:00-11:00: Watch Wisconsin v. Nebraska.
11:00-12:00: Lollygag.

Did you lose a bet? :)
After 17 years of marriage, I assure you I've made my fair share of trips to BB and B .... Make sure to even it out with an unhealthy hot dog at the cart on your way out of Home Depot.

And two kids (one who has learned to drive) I'm allowed to miss a pop culture reference or two.

returns? I wouldn't mind having a wife for a day. We could sit on someones lawn and yell at people to get off of it.

That's more or less to be expected, isn't it?
I hope he had a damn good 8 months leading up to it, though.

Activities include grilling, drinking, football, drinking, throwing balls and/or discs, drinking, video games, drinking, movies, drinking, etc.
September 28th, 2012 at 1:51 PM ^
Sounds awesome except one activity seems to have been inadvertently (?) left off that list . . .

Drinking?
Edit: Oh, you mean strippers? Dunno on that one...

We're doing a Live Blog for Wife Day, right?

1. Get up, drink coffee
2. Get in a 8-10 mile run
3. Have breakfast
4. Go to Oktoberfest, (since I'm performing, yes I'm wearing Lederhosen, but hey I get beer, good beer generally) Wife and son come with me.
5. After 4 hours of playing my trumpet, attempt to pull the lipe of of the lead pipe, change someplace and then probably grab a bite to eat.
6. Go home hang with the family and watch some of the late games.
7. Since I don't have a rooting interest in any of them, sleep easily and well.

Heading to Atlanta with the girlfriend for her birthday. Might take in the MTSU-Georgia Tech game with her friend's husband and let the ladies do their own thing for the afternoon. Not the most exciting matchup, but its live football.

It's Girlfriend Day for me, instead of Wife Day.
- Eastern Market in the morning
- Possible Apple Orchard, depending on how early we go to the Farmer's Market
- Matinee movie, most likely Trouble with the Curve, although I'd much rather see Looper, but this day isn't about me.
- Fish Taco's and grilled corn for dinner.
-
Relaxing at home, hopefully getting a chance to watch the Wisky-Neb game but who knows.
A Saturday in September without getting a chance to watch football just doesn't seem right to me.

Hey-OOOO!
September 28th, 2012 at 12:46 PM ^
Anyone else working on Saturday? I work in college athletics and have home soccer and volleyball matches to be at in the afternoon. My night will involve dinner with my girlfriend and then going to the bar to watch football and play pool. I'm be doing the former.

Going fishing up north, and the wife type substance is going too! I win wife day!
September 28th, 2012 at 1:00 PM ^
Are you using wife substance for bait?
September 28th, 2012 at 1:28 PM ^
That probably depends on whether she jibber-jabbers while he's trying to take in the peaceful quiet of what nature has to offer....
September 28th, 2012 at 1:43 PM ^
'wife type substance' that he speaks of, and indeed he wins!
Have a great day Timmmaay, and wife too!

Hope all is going well your way. We had a good time, took the boy fishing all over the place, and we saw a bear too! The bye week was well timed...

I'm going to the Slippery Rock game!
(No really, I'm going with the Daily to photograph the Slippery Rock game. I cannot wait for this legendary experience).
September 28th, 2012 at 1:48 PM ^
and I thought it would be great to get a group trip to a Slippery Rock game (when Michigan is on the road). Friday night tavern, Saturday tailgate, and group seats with our Meeeechigan garb. Maybe they'd even mention us over the PA.
I checked the map, and it's just a tad over the border into Pennsylvania. Not all that far.

Taking the wife to IKEA in the morning to find a light for the nursery. Then hopefully watch some football in the afternoon. Who knows, may even start playing Borderlands 2 with the wife (who actually wants to play it).
September 28th, 2012 at 1:54 PM ^
Oh sh-t. Good luck with the light search. Looking for fixtures with the wife was probably the worst time of my life. Who knew a f-ing light was so important!?
September 28th, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
Yeah she has been searching for one for 3 months now. After countless trips to Lowes, Meijer and any where else lights are sold, she decided it was time to make the hour drive to IKEA to try there. I am praying she finds one she likes so we can move on.

Wifeless, but I'm going back home to buy my mom a new router and help her set up her wireless network again. Might even get a home-cooked meal out of it. So its kind of like wife day, I guess.
September 28th, 2012 at 12:56 PM ^
If I told my mom I was going to buy her a new wireless router, she'd think it had something to do with woodworking...
September 28th, 2012 at 1:35 PM ^
Mine isn't much better. She just knows there is a problem with the ether cable.
I tried pointing out that is more of a medical problem than a technological one, but it didn't take.

wife, kids, and grandparents out to dinner at the Ale House. I still get to watch footbaw, so I am happy. Will try to get a nice present from my wife, but I am sure she will say no. So I will probably end up being in the right hand club as well.
September 28th, 2012 at 1:04 PM ^
Grandparents combined with kids are the most potent of all anti-aphrodesiacs. That's a tough one to overcome. It will take more than candles and wine. I would say your odds of a getting "nice present" are only a meager 1 to 1.3 per cent.

Overnight trip from A2 to Grand Rapids to check out ArtPrize. I heard it is quite the event. I hope to pick up some wife bonus points and still find a bar to watch some non-Michigan football.

While I agree they have a terrific selection, going to Hopcat when Founders is four blocks away is the ultimate FAIL. Founders is the GOLD standard in beer, and my personal Graceland!

For wife day, my wife and I will actually get to watch college football together, which is a rare thing for us. When Michigan is playing (football and/or basketball), she can't be in the same room as me for fear of flying furniture.
Also, there may be time in there to sneak in a trip to Ikea. She wants curtains and new coffee mugs, I don't want to spend a lot of money and I like swedish meatballs. Win-win situation for everyone involved.

nothing but listening all day long. "

But I do have a to do list that is 14 items long. Hopefully I can finish in time to catch the end of the Ohio vs State game.
