As a father I can't imagine. As a Michigan man, the dulcet strains of the alma mater go through my head...
"Sing to the colors that float in the light, Hurrah for the yellow and blue..."
Thoughts to the Carr family on this saddest of days.
|4 days 7 hours ago||Well....||
Either an curb-stomping of MSU, or a backbreaking last second loss for MSU, paired with a double digit targeting penalties on OSU defenders in the 2nd half, as they unleash 30 minutes of unnecessary roughness on Connor Cook and his replacements. The win causes the QB core of OSU to go out driving and drinking in which they are stopped by a police officer with a secret allegiance to U of M, who arrests them all, leading to a 1 game suspension.
A boy can dream can't he?

They must have gotten their fill of Fallout 4 in. (Isn't every bad computer thing blamed on that for the next week or 2?)

I would rather not do what you ask not related to raising the points. I just don't know you...
|5 weeks 9 hours ago||Please move along now...||
Sparty gonna Spart. It doesn't matter what happens, they could win their next 50 games, be crowned national champions 4 times... and they would still be this.. let's not feed it any more.. no more clicks, no more posts. We move on.
Steel in our spine.

That would be the best answer. No celebrating, just walk off the field.

but probably only the Seahawks' fans in Boston come close to this feeling. Even then I don't think Patriot fans are 1/10 the idiots of many of the MSU fans.

How can we ever recover from the stain on our honor. Ooo.. great Spartan Warriors, you have struck a horrible wound upon us. O, how shall we ever recover. Cancel the game, for we haven't the fortitude to move on.
Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis, the conquering of the Wolverine Statue. All great victories for the Spartan Army. Hopefully you raise a statue and have a great poem created.. An Ode to Green and White Paint on a meaningless statue on North Campus.

But this reply from Ivey Wingo to a rather over the top rant from Stoops21 wins! (How many times should that reply apply across all the boards (take 5-7 days off from the internet))

All you can eat pizza like on Tuesday's... oh yeah!
Belgian Waffle's Bursley Cafeteria. Those machines were like 50 years old in the 90's, but they were the bomb. Nothing better than make your own waffles the size of plates!

I found it interesting when Channel 8, whose Sports Director is Jack Doles spent almost 1 minute of the sportscast on it during the 6 o'clock news. Of course of interest is that Tommy Doles is a Northwestern Football Player... hmmmm.. I certainly hope that Mr. Doles spends as much time on other schools secondary violations. Hell didn't OSU have like 24 self reported in 2014.. OMG.. burn it with fire.

I was lucky enough to see him at a convention in Dearborn. Later that day he performed the world premier of Spock vs. Q with John deLancie. What a great memory. It's awfully dusty in this room at the moment.

Bursley 2nd Hamilton: Home of the Human Pile: 1988-1990
1. The human piles... some deserving gentleman would get human piled on random occasions.
2. The Bat: A bat came flying in and for some reason one of the hall mates had a cricket bat and went to town.. Good swing!
3. The wired glass: One gentleman in a drunken stupor decided to punch through the security glass on the door at the end of the hall. Awesome results! He made it through, pulling back he left a bunch of skin behind.
4. The night the 2nd year when the hall above decided to turn on the water hose.
5. Winning the 89 Basketball Championship and watching on Frank's TV in his room on the stolen cable!
6. Moon sleeping the night away in the restroom. Waking up Sunday morning to see him sleeping there, not knowing what had went on the night before. The green colored liquid he vomited did eventually come out of the carpet! Constantly putting Moon slept here signs.
7. Hall Hockey, with Raja playing goal without a cup. (Okay Engineers aren't always the sharpest guys, but he had an awesome Green 64 or 67 Mustang!)
I loved the dorms!
PS: My nickname was T-bird.. long story, but since I named names I figured I should include mine.
|51 weeks 5 days ago||I think the following||
All have had significant work around athletics, meeting people, making contacts. I think if Hackett has had time to do anything it has only been around Michigan athletics. The bama guy has never left college athletics. Playing football as a backup 40 years ago is meaningless.
|51 weeks 6 days ago||interesting examples of other major AD experience||
ND Swarbrick, experience, Member Indiana sports commission: 1992 to 2001, consultant and executive in collegiate and Olympic sports industries.
USC Haden, Nfl player, NFL broadcaster, from 1980 to 2008, rhodes scholar, laywer, etc.
Alabama, Bill Battle, Experience; Head football coach Tennessee, founded the collegiate licensing company, returned to Alabama.
MSU, Hollis, 25 years of athletic dept. experience, at Pitt and in WAC and MSU
Texas, Steve Patterson; Experience, team president and gm Portland Trailblazers, SVP, Houston Texans, president and gm, Houston Aeros, Gm Houston Rockets.
My point is that these were literally the first 5 I looked up. They all have serious athletic experience and ties.
|51 weeks 6 days ago||Why?||
Why do this now? Why not do an actual search? This seems to me to be a short sighted answer from a university president who has professed a lack of knowledge about athletics who probably thinks the issue is solved and he can move onto other things. I remember John U. Bacon mentioning that athletics is low on the list of items the university administration worries about, especially when it is making money and is clean. If they are going with Hackett, it seems that John U's take is right. Let's hope Hackett surprises many of us.

I remember my infinite joy when (pre-internet days) I pulled out my Total Baseball book, and looked up Archibald Graham and found the listing.
Still love that movie. Just such a perfect piece of joyous peaceful movie making. Nothing earth shattering, but I always feel better for watching it.
