I’m in a rut where I wake up at 4:30 which absolutely sucks moose nuts. I’m literally waiting for that dam rooster to dare make a sound. Pork shoulder on the smoker and dips in the crockpot. The pork shoulders going to become Cuban sliders and probably end up as tacos for the late games tonight. Gotta mow and do some odds and ends which will help ease the nerves.

No alarm needed here. My wife can sleep till 9 like she’s getting paid to do it. Then she stumbles out of the bedroom and bitches at me for waking up so early. I do enjoy the quiet and coffee by myself. Just don’t enjoy feeling like a retiree at 8pm. Shes got me taking a fruits and veggies supplement (claims I don’t eat right)  so the first hour after waking up is deciding whether I can trust a fart.

Same here fellas. I'm currently watching the B1G Championship game against Iowa from last yr. It makes me feel so much better about today. Cade played horrible and we still destroyed them. Not to mention Henning may have had his worst game as a punt returned. He caught a few balls inside the 10 that gave us horrible field position to start a few drives.

I'm up for work around 5, so the weekends see me crawling out around 7-7:30.  I consider that sleeping in as I get older...  Love a coffee on the deck before sunrise, when it's still in the upper 50's-low 60's.  Like today, except that Ian is dumping a shitload of rain on us this morning.  Sipping coffee in the rain isn't as fun or sexy as the movies make it seem!

Rec teq. I have a custom smoker that we made out of a lawnmower trailer years ago that I used to dabble in competitions. I haven’t used it in a long time since I got the cheater smoker. I did take it up north for a long weekend with friends and still enjoy it. Just not as efficient as a pellet smoker and way more exhausting.

I did just cut down a hickory tree that’s seasoning as I type and am gonna do about 4 turkeys and a couple hams over the holidays. I still prefer real wood over pellets. I’ve settled in on kingsford pellets as I think their the closest to real wood, and I’ve tried them all.

I’ve got a pretty chill day today. I’ve been helping my buddy build his house every off day, but we’re taking the weekend off. We have it all roughed in and plumbing starting. We gave ourselves a much needed break after essentially 7 day work weeks since June.

no real plans other than to watch football. Probably order takeout and veg out on the couch.

Sounds great. I just did a Florida business swing which involved driving from the panhandle to Miami, back to Tampa then to atlanta to get out before the hurricane. Exhausted doesn’t describe it. My day will involve either mowing the yard or sitting in a lawn chair and yelling at my son for not doing it right lol. Haven’t decided yet. Either way I’ve got a full day with nothing on the docket.

I'll probable go for a run, take advantage of the nice weather here in northern MI, and throw the football with my sons. Then we will catch a little bit of BNS/CGD before kickoff.

I'm feeling like the first half of today's game is going to be a frustrating struggle but M will pull ahead in the second half as Iowa's defense can no longer carry the entire team.

After an M victory, I will enjoy watch the Spartans keep choppin' toward a 2-3 season start.

I’ve been walking around without an acl for 20 yrs. With the help of a very expensive bionic brace I can still ski over Xmas at boyne. Runnings not an option and I pay for that ski trip for a month after. I can do some leg work at the gym, but all things heavy are out.

6:30 every day, with the wife getting up a little before me. It’s what you when you get older.

Fuck it, it’s game day. Time to get up.

My wife is up, but my dog is now in bed with me which is awesome.  I have to endure a wedding today during the 2nd half of the game.  Thank goodness for smartphones.

Just got home from work. Sitting on my couch watching episode 3 of The Leftovers and enjoying a Scooby snack.

Probably go to bed around 8 or 830 and sleep until noon at which point I'll get up and watch Michigan.

The early bird rising stuff all sounds normal to me.   The heck with stupid pink visitors locker room at Kinnick !  Win the game.  Have nice things.  Go Blue !

I'm up, I'm up. Body feels like a truck slammed into it yesterday, but I am up, damnit. Aging is always an amusing exercise.

Taking the bride to a flooring showroom this morning to choose what will go where in the house. Built it 25+ years ago, so we've finally decided: new floors, kitchen, one bathroom, new fixtures, etc. Going to be living in a torn up mess for a few months. My joy (sarcasm) is boundless right now at the prospect.

Hulu will record our crushing the Hawkeyes today. We will start watching around 1, hopefully being able to skip commercials, "further reviews", etc.. Sometimes it (the fast forwarding) works, sometimes it doesn't, bafflingly inconsistent. Also hope to watch Sparty lose to the turtles a bit too. I enjoy watching Tuck scowl in defeat. It's not a very something, something way for me to behave, but yeah, I like watching him lose.

We have been having very nice Fall weather out here on the Great Plains...highs around 80 and lows in the 50s. We have walked our 3 rounds of 18 holes this week so today is a bike riding day-will likely ride around 25 to 30 miles-3ish hours. Not sure whether to watch the game or not-for my psychological/emotional well-being. I need to put the mower on the tractor too and mow the roadside and walking paths through the pasture. ..anything to distract me and minimize the angst.

I have nothing but respect for people who can be up and excited this early about a noon start, because that's not me - I am not, even though I need to play one for work, a morning person. I am just now getting to coffee and maybe some fruit / cereal.

Spent the morning in bed with the wife and boy watching the Iowa Michigan replay from last year while he was asking to see YouTube clips of Michigan highlights from the greats. Woodson interception against msu, desmond's hello Heisman...

All that and a cup of coffee is a good way to start a Saturday.

Morning walk with Mrs. Gate 3, then laundry and grass cutting, then I settle onto my Homer Simpson ass groove. Today's a Pinconning cheese day, along with my next-door neighbor's venison sausage (he grinds in dried cherries, how Michigan is that). I'll try to stick with Michigan wines to stick with the theme.

So my dilemma today is deciding whether to head off the cable store and swap out my current receiver, which is not 4K, for a new 4K box.  Unfortunately, the only appointment time they had was 11:15, so I'll miss the first quarter, or so.  Bright side - FF through commercial breaks in 4K to get caught up.

I could stream the 4K broadcast, but then I can't easily (and quickly) bounce to other games when commercials are on - something I love to do.
