Over/Under Numbers for Calls from the Booth During the Michigan/Alabama Game
With Musburger and Herbstreit calling the game, I though I would throw out some over/under numbers for stupid comments we'll hear. Here are a few. Feel free to add!
1. Number of times Brent Musburger says “Take that SEC!”: 2
2. Number of times Kirk Herbstreit refers to the speed of SEC defensive ends and how you just don’t see that in the Big 1G: 3.5

Open field tackle
Textbook
However, I do hope we hear "they left him alone!!" quite a few times regarding a wide open Michigan receiver.

You make it sound like Musberger is obsessed with the honey badger.

Number of times Herby will sound like a total OSU homer douche. :0)
August 27th, 2012 at 3:46 PM ^

damn

August 27th, 2012 at 4:12 PM ^
There will be some bit about how the Meyer hire too, how OSU didn't lose a step and how the Game should be competitive for years in the future now

The Musburger game: drink every time Brent says 1. Hold on folks.. 2. It's a foot race! 3. Kirk, my man.. and lastly 4. when he calls a TD before they make it to the endzone.

Fifth entry should be: "Herbie".
August 27th, 2012 at 4:28 PM ^
Left that one off the list to ensure I remember how the game ends.
August 27th, 2012 at 3:52 PM ^
The most confusing aspect of Brent Muskberger is his use of "nothing doing" after a failed play. He is the only person I've ever heard utter that phrase.
August 27th, 2012 at 5:17 PM ^
So true
"Ala-bama will try the right side this time AND NOTHING DOING AS JAKE RYAN COMES UP WITH THE BIG STOP!"
August 27th, 2012 at 3:55 PM ^
He will mention Deerfield Beach and Denard's childhood at least 3 times, and will probably talk about the B1G speech.
August 27th, 2012 at 3:56 PM ^
Musberger calls Denard "Shoelace," as if he is the only one that doesn't realize Denard has not really been caled that in a while, a lot, but not nearly as many times as Gerry Denardo says "elite level depth" while describing what Michigan is lacking.
August 27th, 2012 at 3:59 PM ^
Number of times Musberger elevates his pitch and calls the play in his most-excited voice, even though holding has clearly taken place and multiple flags have been thrown in the offensive backfield: 2.5

You are looking live...

If the odds are <1, I'll take the over. >1, I'll take the under.
I'll also put one up - Number of times Herbstreit & Mussberger combined indicate that the M defensive line "has lost a lot". - 4.

i hated brent so much more in the 90's when he had dick vermeil with him. and i liked dick. vermeil that is. dick, not so much. prison sux.
August 27th, 2012 at 4:35 PM ^
I sat behind Dick Vermeil on an airplane a couple of years ago. His hair was on par with Greg Robinson's.
He also looked remarkably young and fit.

"tradition rich programs" : 5
August 27th, 2012 at 4:20 PM ^
I find it highly more likely that it's Musby that references Brady instead of KH.

Still a work in progress (Herbie on defensive lapses)
August 27th, 2012 at 5:20 PM ^
I've given everyone a personal posbang on this thread...not because I think I'm BlogGod, f-that...because I literally can hear Musburger and Herbstreit saying all of these things you all have mentioned.
Good work by all, very good laugh.
Kind of sad as well, seemed far to easy to make this list.
August 27th, 2012 at 5:23 PM ^
I can hear KH's voice when reading those quotes, inflection and all.

"Wolverines / Tide strike first." depending on who scores first
August 27th, 2012 at 7:21 PM ^
August 28th, 2012 at 10:35 AM ^
I guarantee that at some point in the game, Musberger will say something like, "Now remember folks, this is not the same Crimson Tide team that celebrated on Bourbon Street last January. Eleven starters are gone from Nick Saban's 2011 national champions..."
We're also sure to hear this one, toward the end of the game:
Musberger: "Remember folks, coaches always tell us [dramatic pause] that the biggest improvement a team can make [another dramatic pause] is between Week 1 and Week 2" (to which Herbstreit will reply, "Oh, no doubt. [Team that is behind] will look like a very different team next week").
