OT: Friday "What are You Listening To?" Thread
It's been awhile since we've had an off-topic music thread (and switching it up from the drinking threads), so here goes:
I'm on a huge Dawes, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Alabama Shakes kick.
What is everyone listening to on this fine Friday?
Cheers.

I recommend this cover of "Silver Springs" by her if you haven't heard it.
Ammmsterrrdaammm (now stuck in my head, but I'm not mad about it . . . .)

Absolute Power and Anghellic were my favorites.

This last week with his Best Of shows has been epic.

At first I thought "Dawes, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Alabama Shakes" was a single band name, which would be rather epic.
Still can't stop listening to Sufjan's Age of Adz, personally.

Bon Iver
Seriously, one of the best things I have ever heard. LOVE him/them.

Japandroids...... Celebration Rock is a great album for a Friday.
Ever since I heard of them a few weeks ago I've been listening to that album as much as possible. Love it.
Love Japandroids. What other bands you got?

Nas- 'Life is Good'
August 3rd, 2012 at 12:52 PM ^
I'm listening to Illmatic at work right now. Just finished Life's a Bitch. Things must have improved for Nas since '94. Holy crap, that's almost 20 years old :/

Passion Pit-Gossamer
Metric-Synthetica
Imagine Dragons-Continued Silence
Just bought some live stones from Google Play a bit ago:
LA Friday Live and Brussles Affair, they were like $3 each. Quality live music. The Stones' cover of "Aint to Proud to Beg" is pretty awesome.
I just finished Kieth Richards book "Life" which was a damn awesome read and I've been on a Stones kick since.

Giving a little love to No Use For A Name, as their lead singer recently passed away at the young age of 41.
That, and Tenacious D's new album. For those of you who have heard it, do you think of the Ohio River when Jack Black sings "Rivers of Brown"?
August 3rd, 2012 at 12:42 PM ^
He is very underrated as a singer, IMO. I've always wished he would take a break from the goofball lyrics and mediocre movies and put out a serious album or two. His range is huge and he has the perfect "raspiness" for rock vocals. You would think Dave Grohl would've hit him up for another side project by now.
I thought this last album did just that. Sure, there are some songs that are generally goofy, but "Rize of the Fenix" (among others) was just a really good rock song.
