Shawn Hunwick isnt walking through that door but I think we will be fine going forward. Our offense is talented enough to keep us in any game and if Red can rededicate this team to defense we will be well on our way to a 23rd straight NCAA apperance.
Also remember our D corps has been very thin between injuries (Merrill and Serville) and suspensions (Trouba) causing us to resort to Mike Szuma and Jeff Rohrkemper as fifth and sixth defensemen. |

Student here: I understand the sentiment of decreasing the student section size because the top half of the stadium "looks" empty at kickoff but you have to realize no one sits in their assigned seat. If you have the tippy top row and you get to the game 25 minutes early you are sneaking down to row 50. In my eyes by getting there early you have earned that right. This process happens repeatedly and repeatedly and the outcome is a super packed spoonfest in lower section and a seemingly empty/sparsely populated student section.
Also, anoher factor to consider is how many students show up to the big house on time but have to wait in lines for 20 minutes while people too old to know what twitter is try to scan your ticket and check your MCard.

Being at the Blue White scrimmage, it was weird seeing all the goalies with their shoulder pads above the cross bar. That being said the position players looked good and I have quite a bit of confidence that once Rutledge gets back to form after the eye surgery it is his job to lose. I wouldn't mind going with the 2010 strategy of Friday night Racine and Saturday night Rutledge until a starter emerges.

Cousins is defintely in the conversation. Who is the competition? Jeff Smoker and Drew Stanton come to mind when talking recent history and I dont think either had the record against UofM Cousins had. Also, Cousins holds most major MSU passing records and is in the top ten in many B1G records. Not to mention his intangibles, being a leader and a stand up guy (Big Ten luncheon speech).
There could be some guy back in the day that had a couple good years but it is safe to say Cousins is the best quarterback in recent memory. |
