Oh seriously, but for the grace of god go us. There was a dude in the Heath system at UM who did the same stuff. If we were unfortunate enough that that pervert was I our football program and not in the health system we would be in the same place. Don't be holy.

Sadly, I wouldn't bet against it. A search warrant was executed against him July 2010 and he continued working for the university until december of that year(when he resigned and fled the country). I find it hard to believe no one in the university was aware of what was happening.

What I am saying is it only takes a couple corrupt idiots to bring down an entire institution. In PSUs case it was one really bad, bad guy and a half dozen enablers. That could happen anywhere. This isn't Nazism where millions of people bought in, this really was a cover up by a couple people.

Mcreary, Mcreary's father, Paterno, the AD, was that it?

they were the people in charge, with the duty to protect those in their care.

It is a big deal, complicity with inexcusable evil.

Whether forfeiting wins is appropriate is another issue, but the abuse should be roundly and continuously condemned whenever discussed, and never brushed off.

who is saying Nazism?

the fact that Michigan is not immune from something like this happening.  Need I remind people of the football placekicker that was recently kicked out of the university for sexual assault allegations.  Institutional control wont stop sexual abuse from happening no matter how diligent and to think otherwise is naive.  Michigan is not above the ills that happen in the greater community from within which it exists.  And since that is the case I believe in the old adage that those that live in glass houses...

However, the 409 all time wins on helmets shows incredibly bad judgement IMO.  At first I wasnt sure what the 409 was referring too and looked it up in the urban dictionary and curiously it has bizarre 2nd and 3rd meanings.   Anyway I do agree with the criticism now that PSU is getting, they should be low key about the restoration of FB program wins - how knuckleheadly insensitive can you get?!

with another adult is a far cry from what happened at Penn State. I'm not trivializing what happened with Gibbons but only two people know what happened in that room and due to alcohol neither of them may have an accurate story.

Penn State is a situation were others enabled another adult to abuse children after they found out he was abusing kids. They are no where close to the same.

"409" was probably not originated by Penn State.  Do you really think that someone at Penn State has the imagination or creativity to think of this?

It is likely that someone at Nike came up with the "409" to sell more merchandise. They are playing on Penn State school pride.  Nike is the one that stands to benefit from the sale of Penn State merchandise with "409" on it. Think of all the cheesy marketing ideas that Nike has come up with.

Nike is the one that should be criticized for exploiting an unfortunate situation to make a buck. Penn State is culpable for allowing Nike to exploit the situaion but it is Nike that should be castigated for originating the marketing strategy.

They seem to have lost perspective on what really happened there.
How many of those wins were achieved with a child molester coordinating the defense?

I'm surprised they aren't making it 410 because in their eyes they just won the biggest victory ever.

Now if only they can get that fucker Sandusky out or he dies before trial they can pretend in never happened.

the NCAA giving those wins back. It's like celebrating the coach that put you on probation for cheating a year after he did it except in this case it's child rape instead of cheating. Both horrible but one is beyond the realm of decency.
