Penn State shenanigans continue
In the latest episode of 'We Only Care About Wins,' Penn State will be wearing "409" on their hockey helments tonight with the basketball team wearing "409" T-shirts tomorrow for their warm-ups. Disgusting if you ask me.

Would not be surprised if kids are still getting molested there. Cult.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:19 PM ^
Oh seriously, but for the grace of god go us. There was a dude in the Heath system at UM who did the same stuff. If we were unfortunate enough that that pervert was I our football program and not in the health system we would be in the same place. Don't be holy.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:54 PM ^
In our football program. End of discussion.
January 16th, 2015 at 11:29 PM ^
facts get in the way of a good story. That is not even close to the truth. There was NO ONE getting molested on UM Campus. There was no COVER UP.
But I see what you are trying to do, tell lies that mask as the truth, Not going to work here.

As an undergrad I worked in a lab whose director ended up getting caught by the FBI for downloading child pornography. (I was long gone by then) He fled to Israel...
January 17th, 2015 at 3:26 PM ^
But not even close to what happened at PSU.
January 17th, 2015 at 4:28 PM ^
Was the university's senior management aware of the guy for an extended period of time, during which they did nothing?
January 17th, 2015 at 6:26 PM ^
Sadly, I wouldn't bet against it. A search warrant was executed against him July 2010 and he continued working for the university until december of that year(when he resigned and fled the country). I find it hard to believe no one in the university was aware of what was happening.
January 17th, 2015 at 7:44 AM ^
What I am saying is it only takes a couple corrupt idiots to bring down an entire institution. In PSUs case it was one really bad, bad guy and a half dozen enablers. That could happen anywhere. This isn't Nazism where millions of people bought in, this really was a cover up by a couple people.
January 17th, 2015 at 7:58 AM ^
Mcreary, Mcreary's father, Paterno, the AD, was that it?
they were the people in charge, with the duty to protect those in their care.
It is a big deal, complicity with inexcusable evil.
Whether forfeiting wins is appropriate is another issue, but the abuse should be roundly and continuously condemned whenever discussed, and never brushed off.
who is saying Nazism?
January 17th, 2015 at 11:28 AM ^
the fact that Michigan is not immune from something like this happening. Need I remind people of the football placekicker that was recently kicked out of the university for sexual assault allegations. Institutional control wont stop sexual abuse from happening no matter how diligent and to think otherwise is naive. Michigan is not above the ills that happen in the greater community from within which it exists. And since that is the case I believe in the old adage that those that live in glass houses...
However, the 409 all time wins on helmets shows incredibly bad judgement IMO. At first I wasnt sure what the 409 was referring too and looked it up in the urban dictionary and curiously it has bizarre 2nd and 3rd meanings. Anyway I do agree with the criticism now that PSU is getting, they should be low key about the restoration of FB program wins - how knuckleheadly insensitive can you get?!

with another adult is a far cry from what happened at Penn State. I'm not trivializing what happened with Gibbons but only two people know what happened in that room and due to alcohol neither of them may have an accurate story.
Penn State is a situation were others enabled another adult to abuse children after they found out he was abusing kids. They are no where close to the same.
January 17th, 2015 at 12:17 PM ^
Considering they sent their most famous pedophile an invitation to attend a recruiting shindig this past December. We can at least say that no leaves were turned over at all in happy valley over the past half decade.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:37 PM ^
Crazy that their new administration wants to revisit this topic by focusing so much on 409.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:37 PM ^
In my opinion they should wear 504.
January 17th, 2015 at 8:12 AM ^
"409" was probably not originated by Penn State. Do you really think that someone at Penn State has the imagination or creativity to think of this?
It is likely that someone at Nike came up with the "409" to sell more merchandise. They are playing on Penn State school pride. Nike is the one that stands to benefit from the sale of Penn State merchandise with "409" on it. Think of all the cheesy marketing ideas that Nike has come up with.
Nike is the one that should be criticized for exploiting an unfortunate situation to make a buck. Penn State is culpable for allowing Nike to exploit the situaion but it is Nike that should be castigated for originating the marketing strategy.

i used to neutral to PSU, but they have done nothing, I mean nothing, than be a bunch fools with their heads so far up their asses it is simply unbelievable.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:38 PM ^
They seem to have lost perspective on what really happened there.
How many of those wins were achieved with a child molester coordinating the defense?
January 16th, 2015 at 10:35 PM ^
Every one Sandusky coached. I don't think he waited to start child molestation after he got to psu. Working at psu just gave him better opportunity.
January 17th, 2015 at 6:51 AM ^
I agree with you. Actually, it was a rhetorical question.
It's okay, though. I'm pretty disgusted with those people in happy valley.
January 17th, 2015 at 6:54 AM ^
Damn double post.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:39 PM ^
Amazing how willing people are to forgive such horrible darkness for such ephemeral victories.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:41 PM ^
In such a short time too.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:22 AM ^
They've yet to admit any wrongdoing by anyone other than Sandusky
January 16th, 2015 at 10:51 PM ^
they never accepted responsibility for what happened? Disgusting
January 16th, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
I have run out of words to describe my disgust for that university
January 16th, 2015 at 9:43 PM ^
...And for their delusional fan base.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:33 PM ^
Forget what I said in the other thread. They should have disbanded the program.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
Irony?
January 16th, 2015 at 9:46 PM ^
Yes they will truly whitewash history.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:55 PM ^
Wikipedia has been updated - eff'in unbelievable:
With 409 victories, Paterno is the winningest coach in FBS history.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:39 PM ^
I would like to bring her home. As long as it was consensual, you know.
January 17th, 2015 at 2:10 AM ^
The lovely Jessica Biel.
January 16th, 2015 at 11:36 PM ^
Right sentiment via awesome gif
January 16th, 2015 at 10:31 PM ^
It doesn't really matter whether he has the wins or not. He knowingly had a child molester on staff and did very little to stop it. Some kids lives will never be the same because football was more important to him, that's his legacy now.
January 17th, 2015 at 1:30 AM ^
I'm surprised they aren't making it 410 because in their eyes they just won the biggest victory ever.
Now if only they can get that fucker Sandusky out or he dies before trial they can pretend in never happened.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
As a Temple alum I've dealt with the cult of Penn State. These people are myopic. It's just a sad caricature now.
Bottom Line:
January 16th, 2015 at 11:58 PM ^
cough Bill Cosby cough cough
January 17th, 2015 at 11:00 AM ^
That said, no charges (to date) and tried in the court of public opinion vs. a convicted pedophile
I don't see the correlation is all.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:41 PM ^
I'm from PA. PSU fans are delusional cultists.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:46 PM ^
Majority, yes. But certainly not all. Every fan base has their loonies. Penn State just seems to have a lot more. They're also much more vocal than the minority.
January 16th, 2015 at 11:05 PM ^
I used to think ohio had the highest % of loonies in their fan base and they also were the loudest but the reaction from psu fans to this horrible action has me rethinking that.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:42 PM ^
The NCAA has ZERO credibility.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:27 PM ^
How gutless do you have to be to walk that back? Who gives a shit anyways about the wins? Wins don't matter at all when your coach allowed children to be molested.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:42 PM ^
Absolutely disgusting all around. There is no way those wins should have been restored, ever.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:43 PM ^
the NCAA giving those wins back. It's like celebrating the coach that put you on probation for cheating a year after he did it except in this case it's child rape instead of cheating. Both horrible but one is beyond the realm of decency.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:44 PM ^
more than our actual rivals. Not even kidding.
January 16th, 2015 at 10:47 PM ^
I want to beat them just as badly as MSU and OSU. Maybe more.
January 16th, 2015 at 9:50 PM ^
Except it's made worse by the Penn State apologists making their case online and in the media. Must be terrible for the families of the victims.
Shame.
