to Ernie Harwell. I had no idea how lucky I was as a metro-Detroit kid listening to Harwell call Tiger games. For me, Mike Emrick (hockey) is approaching the same level of quality play-by-play + personal charm/wit. I think that too many analysts try too hard . . . and it shows. (I mute when C. Berman is on the T.V. ) KJ was pretty darn awesome, and like the other 30- 40-somethings on this board, was a central figure in my formative sports years. |

A few rushed in '97 after beating OSU. The police pepper sprayed some of the students that year (including my roommate at the time). I think that the administration was absolutely terrified of fans/students rushing the field after the Wisconsin fan crushing incident that happened in Madison in 1993 after UW beat MIchigan. |

and subsequent (long) slumber was freaking scary. The staff should have taken away his helmet and told him to grab pine for the rest of the game. Maybe Dantonio "didn't know" he was knocked out, but it is his job to know things like that and to draw hard lines for the health of his players. As a fan and alum, I'd be pissed if Michigan did not do this for one of its players on a similar hit/loss of consciousness, regardless of the player or game. |

I listened to the game on the radio and Beckman and Brandy were going nuts on this play. I later watched on replay (not knowing/recalling what play this was) and it jumped out at me. Terrible.
The defensive holding calls on BWC were also laughable. |

I'd say depends on whether you want or need the sound up on the TV. If you locate a few finalists for places, call ahead and see if they are planning to put the sound up on any games. I know, for example, Professor Thom's does for UM games. In Manhattan I've always liked Blondie's (on UWS) as a general sport's bar. I'm also very partial to Brooklyn bars. Cody's on Court Street in Brooklyn is a chill, off the beaten path spot.
