Trey Burke Twitter rumors [Good]
There have been two recent Tweets that hint that Burke may be returning:
Keith Langlois @Keith_Langlois FWIW. NBA personnel guy in Miami for #Pistons game says he believes Trey Burke is headed back to Michigan. Would go in 30s, he said
Suz @OhhSuzannah: @suckatsports report from church. The Burke family is telling members of our congregation that Trey's staying another year. We'll see!
Take it FWIW. Didn't see anything on the Board on the most recent "information". Hopefully these tea leaves are accurate!
MOD Edit: Moved to board. Commence HAPPY FREAK OUT! [zl]
Thats how the family dinners go at my house too.
This made my day
Are they credible sources of information on Trey Burke? Or are they people who heard stuff from someone else's cousin? I don't mean to be insulting; if this information came from Bacari Alexander I would be able to put more stock into it.
OhhSuzannah is a self-described Buckeye/cat lady whose website is called kissmyblackass.org. So... there that is I guess.
Why didn't I pay the $10 to get all the alternate domains when I had the chance? Guess I only have myself to blame.
Considering she belongs to the same church as Trey's family and Trey is from Columbus, I don't think this automatically makes it completely false. It's more likely she would be a Buckeye fan being from there.
The first one is the Pistons writer for nba.com
I'll believe it when it's official, but three words come to mind when thinking of Trey back for next year. "Depth at PG." Oh, that sounds lovely.
Not only does Burke potenially coming back make us uber happy, but it scares Ohio shitless. Just look at the second person's twitter account haha!
I'll obviously respect Trey's opinion if he decides to go and I'll cheer hard for him no matter what, but please please please be true.
4 is a very, very real possibility. So please, please, please let it be true.
I am optimistic just because the longer it drags on, the more likely he returns. It is also the right decision to make as well as the one that we all would prefer.
The real kicker will be that he'll come back, but because he's been toying with entering the draft perhaps he's blown his classes off. And, thus he'll be on campus - just not able to help the team by playing.
I heard Albrecht already passed him on the depth chart, even though he isn't even here. But your theory is just as plausible . . . . /s
In one of my Junior year semesters at UM I literally did not attend a single lecture - for any of my classes - while taking 16 credits and still got two A's and two A-'s. With proper studying for his finals, he will be fine.
You must have been a psych major.
i skipped a million lectures frosh year - stats, bio-anthro, etc. those lectures were not essential to learing the material. of couse that was 15 years ago, but i imagine it is even easier today, with kids taking notes that are basically transcripts of the classes and lots of profs putting lecture videos online.
You have to be in a sorority to be a psych major . . .
As a pre-med, majoring in BBCS was the best thing ever. Many classes overlapped with med school prereq's and all I had to do was do better than those stupid sorority girls to stay ahead of the curve --> being in med school.
But regardless, lets be real...its not like Trey is in EECS 280, he should easily be able to pass his classes even if he skipped for a month.
You sure you didn't accidentally enroll at MSU?
You're obviously a genius of the highest caliber. However, I doubt whether Trey Burke—not to mention the rest of us—is similarly endowed with such magnificent brainpower, and he's also a varsity athlete with an incredibly demanding schedule. I would bet that if you asked the profs for any of his courses whether they think it's fine to miss all the lectures, they'd respond with a hearty "are you fucking kidding me?"
This is something very smart people can get away with. As long as you're focused on what-you-need-to-know and not grades you can pass most classes. I'm not one of these people, but I knew a handful of people (including Electrical Engineers) who blew off a lot (and I mean, like ALL) of classes/lectures and did only what they had to and/or what they thought mattered. They learned their shit and went on to successful careers, but didn't sweat the small stuff that was needed to get A's. One guy went so far as to switch/add classes on the last possible day to avoid being responsible for assignments in the early part of the semester.
Dunno if Burke fits this profile at all, but as a hard-working kid, I'm sure he can get by if he puts his mind to it - especially with the academic support athletes get.
I can only speak about Electrical Engineering from about 20 years ago, but I knew all the kids that were getting A's, because not only were we attending the lectures on Mon, Wed, Fri. but we were camped in the TA's office on Tues Thurs to try to figure out the damn homework that counted as 20% of your grade. There was no one skipping out on all the classes and getting A's. You could miss a lecture here or there, especially if you had a friend taking notes for you, but that was about it.
Now, it wasn't the same in every class and some of the lower level classes were reasonably easy. But as for 300-400 level classes, there was no one skipping out and getting A's.
Things, as always, may have changed since I was at Michigan. If kids are watching videos of lectures instead of going, well, that would obvivously work. But that isn't quite the same as skipping the lecture entirely..
I'm saying you can PASS w/o going, not that you can get A's. But for people not concerned with grades, as long as your smart and willing to work on your own you can get by (i.e. class is optional.)
Burke's classes are a relatively small concern here. He's got bigger issues to address first.
Am I the only one who thinks it's a little messed up that people here are freely speculating about his academic performance? That is, when we're not looking at photos of dorm rooms that may or may not be his. Maybe we're taking our fandom a little too far.
It's just the ten percenters. All fan bases have them and unfortunately they are usually the most vocal. MSU,OSU and the SEC approach 50 percent with their crazy portion of fan base. Does anyone really think he would not go to the NBA only to return to Michigan to be ineligible? Trey will be fine, the genius who posted this however I have my doubts.
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Good news after the Tigers shat all over my Sox.
I feel the same way about the Braves not showing up at all in New York.
Lol. I may feel for you more. At least the Tigers are a very serious contender unlike the Mets.
I feel the same about the Indians shatting all over themselves..for 28 innings in 2 games
Getting shut out for the final 13 innings. Talk about crapping the bed.
Not exactly the start to the season I was hoping would occur, to get me excited. I haven't been able to get amped about baseball yet, and last year's awful finale, after an otherwise great/fun season, in the back of my mind isn't helping either.
Sox in the washer.
Minimum, Kate Upton dancing.
