Smotrycz, Christian, Brundidge all transferring

"We never like to see players leave the program, however, Evan, Colton and Carlton have made the decision to transfer and continue their careers elsewhere," said Beilein. "All three are fine young men with bright futures. We wish them and their families nothing but success going forward."
Well that really took a good summery afternoon in March and soured things a bit. What am i missing here with Smotrycz?
I really want to know what happened. That really sucks and kind of puts a damper on what we can do. In other news...who's the backup pg??
As of right now? Eso Akunne, and possibly even Nick Stauskas. However, Beilein is hot on the trail of 2012 PG/SG Amedeo Della Valle of renowned Findlay Prep(NV) and he could be the backup PG if he signs up and pans out.
That is deeply baffling news.
Not sure why this stings you. Nine times out of ten, players transfer because they're not gonna make the regular rotation. Probably these three saw the writing on the wall. In which case, transfers are good for both the players and the program.
WE DIDN'T LISTEN!
Major loss. There is no other way to put it.
Only surprising one was Smot. Let's just hope Trey and THJ stick to their word about coming back.
it was an early April Fool's Day joke.
:-(
Hate to lose Smotrycz and thought Brundidge could help spell Burke if he improved over the summer.
So now that we have 3 open scholarships (after thinking the next two classes were already full) who are we looking at to sign? Anyone interested?
this team needs a backup PG in the worst way.
Nothing to see here.
I guess we have room now for Zeigler?
And that's what I'm going to tell myself until he signs elsewhere.
You need a new avatar now.
Is there a picture of a frowning lobstrycz that I could use instead?
Am I the only one who see's a flaw in this?! We would have two guys playing named Trey! It'd be so damn confusing!
I mean, Beilein does like to build his team around the trey
Don't forget GRIII also goes by Trey.

So is he Trey III?
so who we looking at to fill those 3 spots
Eso Akunne will take Brundidges place, no one takes Christians place, and the rest of the team will just get more minutes with Smot gone(less depth).
Yeah with Horford coming back from injury with hopefully another summer of big improvement, and McGary coming in, the Smot loss shouldn't actually hurt us as long as Beilein can adapt his gameplan away from the 3 ball and more towards the pick and roll (which I know he can and which I wouldn't mind seeing anyway). The point guard depth is another story. Aren't there some foreign players we're looking at for just such a situation as this?
If Eso is taking the spot of anyone seeing minutes when the team isn't ahead by 35, then we're in trouble.
right...hahaha early April fools?
WHAT THE FUCK EVAN
so Akunne is going to be back up point guard?
I knew about Carlton transferring from a trusted source but I couldn't say anything. I did not, however, know anything about Colton or Evan. I'm very disappointed...
Any ideas of where he is thinking of going?
Nope, don't know that much. If I hear anything/get the OK to post, I'll post.
I guess Christian and Brundidge don't suprise me... that much. Christian most likely would've never seen the court again, but Brundidge should've been competing for playing time next year. Smotrycz is baffling though, he would most likely be playing some major minutes next year at his normal position.
Italian Napoleon Dynamite?
I'm so okay with this.
We lose our only viable PG backup (Akunne isn't really a good option), although Brundridge would have needed to develop a bit (case in point Morris). We lose a starter at the PF spot and a dynamic threat to our offense (can shoot a 3 point and drive-a bit). If Mitch is a one and done then we start really losing some depth at the forward spot, especially if Beidfelt does not pan out. Christian is not as significant. Although we can like the open recruiting spots, this could really burn us.
Really hate losing Smote. I think he is going to be a great player next year. CB and Colton don't surprise me at all, and their departure opens the door for a much needed backup PG and higher rated guys we are still on. But losing Smote really hurts.
Not sure if Smotz will find a better situation in the country that starting at the 4 for Beilein...oh well onwards and upwards...good luck to them.
I thought you were trolling with Smotz in the mix but seriously, this is extremely unexpected. I don't kno how our lineup will look next year now. I'm sad to see Smotrycz go because he had all the talent and intangibles but lacked a strong mental game to put it together. He could, or could, have been special.
Smotrycz saw solid minutes and was a key vital part of this years team. Either he felt that he was being utilized wrongly or he doesn't like future plans for him. This is some sort of mystery.
Best of luck gents. I'll be interested to see where they all land.
Wow, def thought this was some type of early April fools thread. Not cool!
Anybody why this happened like it did? All three hitting at the same time seems like more than just a wacky coincidence to me. Especially with Evan...there HAS to be more to the story than he just wants out.
Did i mention this sucks?
I'm sure all three knew before today but let Beilein make the announcement.
That makes more sense and hopefully you are correct. If not this would be the numerical equivilent of having 30 football players request transfers on the same day.
And even in our darkest days we thankfully never got close to that.
Sorry to hear this news. About the only silver lining is I won't have to hear Matt Shepherd pronounce his name as "Smosh-tridge".
