OT: Tool's Drummer sports Novak Jersey
According to sources, Tool's drummer Danny Carey sported a Zack Novak jersey while performing with the band in Toledo on Tuesday. Nice to see Tool supporting the Michigan basketball team! and in Ohio nonetheless! People on toolshed.down.net are commenting on this.
Also, according to a paywalled Scout.com article (I do not have membership), Novak tweeted to Danny Carey thanking him for donning his jersey.
Anyone have pictures or links?

Absolutely jealous you have been able to see that many times live. H/T to the drummer, but Maynard is the man. That guy is so damn creative.

Gotta love the best drummer from the best band supporting the best institution!
January 26th, 2012 at 2:53 PM ^
I love Carey, but the best drummer in the land is Atomship's Chad Kent

I love Chad Kent, but the best drummer named Chad is Red Hot Chili Pepper's Chad Smith

Speaking of the Chili Peppers and ballsy Michigan-related moves, they once played "The Victors" - in Columbus.

To each his or her own, but I prefer the drummer who provided the soundtrack to my restless dreams of youth.
January 26th, 2012 at 3:58 PM ^
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: There is no [redacted] better drummer than Neil Peart.
January 26th, 2012 at 4:53 PM ^
I prefer Bonham to Peart. Moby Dick, Good Times Bad Times, Fool in the rain, etc.
January 26th, 2012 at 5:04 PM ^
end of story, the debate is over, 'nuff said.

1 Bonham
2 Peart

Does this mean all TOOL threads are now no longer OT?
January 26th, 2012 at 1:55 PM ^
My bad. Posting from work makes for hasty posting. Fixed.
Also - its funny that one of the banner ads on the site right now is for a Nickelback show.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:15 PM ^
About an old thread about a tool concert that got deleted a couple months ago for being really off topic, which has been sporadically brought up by people on the board complaining about OT rules.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:23 PM ^
which was bullshit i might add
January 26th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
Tool? Not a tool. I'm not a tool. You know, if I was a tool, not in the sense that you think I said I was.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:27 PM ^
At least Tool isn't holding it against Michigan.
(came so close to typing "tool holding it against us...")

Thank you. Glad to see there are at least two others on the board who appreciate a good beer now and again.

How does that avatar relate to Busch Light?

My brother-in-law is assistant AD in charge of facilities at UT. If it was at Savage Hall, I might be able to get some pictures.

It's about damn time they come out with a new album.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
Agreed. They have been working on it for quite some time, but no concrete details have been leaked. Its only been what...six years since 10K Days?
Also...Isis posted that they would be releasing something soon. I am sure it won't be new material, but still very cool. I miss those guys.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:20 PM ^
Good to know. I'm disappointed that I really got into them right around the time they broke up, so I'll never be able to see them live. And yep, six years since the last TOOL album, and I fear their next one will be their last. Those guys are getting old.
January 26th, 2012 at 3:25 PM ^
Yeah, same with me. I really got into them right before their last tour. And I almost drove 5 hours to see them open for the Melvins on that tour, but decided against it, thinking "these doods tour constantly, I'll get another chance."
Two weeks later, they announced their breakup and that this was their last tour.
Moral of the story: Always drive 5 hours for a concert if that is your first instinct.

Is a huge Jayhawks fan and he wears a Kansas Jayhawk jersey alot. Not sure the reason for the switch but I dont blame him.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:15 PM ^
He's from Kansas and is a Jayhawk fan I know, he usually wears a KU or Laker jersey.
One show at DTE he wore a Pistons jersey.
He played a little bit in college - U of Mizzu in Kansas City I believe

Best shot I could find
I was so pissed I couldn't make this one, seen them like 15 times, one of the all-time best.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
I've seen them 3 or 4 times. Danny Carey typically sports a KU jersey or sometimes a Lakers one as he is from Kansas and now lives in LA. He's a huge hoops fan and that is quite an honor for Mr. Novak, IMHO.

but getting pics will be difficult. Tool is pretty serious about their no pics policy. I saw them from the front row (center) at Red Rocks here in Denver and the security guys were pretty busy that night.

Ha. I love trolling in America's armpit, and I love it even more when an epic rockstar does it for me.
January 26th, 2012 at 2:46 PM ^
One of my favorites by far..Danny Carry is one if the greatest drummers period ...This just makes me like him more....All hail Tool....Go blue!
January 26th, 2012 at 3:02 PM ^
I blame this phone..
January 26th, 2012 at 10:51 PM ^
No question. One of the best rock drummers ever.
January 26th, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
Another reason to love Danny Carey! You might not like their music, but Danny Carey is one of the most amazing drummers in the music industry.
January 26th, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
Awesome! Best band in the world imo.
January 26th, 2012 at 3:02 PM ^
But when will they be playing a venue near me??
January 26th, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
I was at the show and didnt even realize it. To be fair, it was dark and I was in the nosebleeds on the opposite side of the arena, but that's awesome. He's one of the best drummers in the world and it was a great show.
