Wow. We look like straight up shit.

November 11th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Pics or it didn't happen.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I see that free throws are still an issue.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
The announcers on the stream are horrible.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
What stream you watching? Firstrow has nothing for UM.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
21 three pointers attempted out of 36 shots. Sigh.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Stop F'n yelling, sideline girl!!!!!!!!!!
November 11th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
Good lord. I could not agree more. This is horrifying.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
We don't look great, but it is sooo early. I don't see us being as good as last year and we are probably overrated right now, but we don't look that bad to me.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
People are freaking out about the first game of the year, of course. The shots aren't dropping, but they're getting good shots. By the end of the year I think this team will be better than last year's. But early on it'll be tough to figure out how to run the offense w/out Darius.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
It's obvious that lack of a true PG will hurt them initially, but many of the other players seem to have stepped things up.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:41 PM ^
I think Burke is a true PG or at least he should change his game to be one. I am shocked he is playing so well this early.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
I'm sure Burke will become one over the course of this season. It will be fun to watch him progress.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
Stu needs to stop picking up his dribble after aimlessly wandering around the 3 pt line... does not look like a PG
November 11th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
Nice camera angle!
November 11th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
Vogrich with what very well may be his only points in the paint this year. Good effort!!! Michigan up 45-32 with 7m left.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
Women's BB beat Florida @ Florida 69-66
November 11th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
Why are free throws so bad on this Belein team.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
Michigan up 52-32 now
November 11th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Abby, 10 points is not Naismith trophy material. Come on, man!
November 11th, 2011 at 8:41 PM ^
The on-court girl for this broadcast should probably look into another career. Her voice is just too obnoxious.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Gaawwd.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
She made me wana beat off with my tears.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
I have no idea what that means, but I agree?
November 11th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
Since halftime we've started to look more like a top 25 team. The D has been there all night, but the offense and rebounding didn't make an appearance until the second half.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
Yay for halftime adjustments?
November 11th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
Douglass and Smotrycz looked good out there, IMO.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
And it's official...59-33, First Game, First Win!!! Hardaway is still pressing a bit but Douglass carried us tonight.
I'll take it, but we definitely still need some rhythm on offense, but the D should keep us in a lot of games
November 11th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
The D is really impressive, and the offense just needs Burke to play point instead of Stu. Anyone one know what he did that made JB sit him?
November 11th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
hopefully just a one time issue
November 11th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
We caused nearly twice as many turnovers than Ferris State. Defense looks great. The offense finally settled in halfway through the second half. Looks like it was just first game jitters. 4 for 8 freethrows-- we're going to want that improved. Don't want a repeat of last years Wisconsin game.
Overall solid win, but lot of improvement needed.
November 11th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
what happened... I went to take care of some business up 8 and I came back and the game was over and we won in a landslide. ?
November 11th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Sorry if this has been asked/answered already, but since Ferris State isn't D-1, Will this win count on our official record??
November 11th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
I do not believe so. This is an exhibition.
For the record, this is the same Ferris team that lost to Calvin earlier this week.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
This was a regular season game, not exhibition.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:16 PM ^
This one counts and was not an exhibition.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
South Carolina Upstate counted for us last year, so I'd imagine the answer is yes.
November 11th, 2011 at 11:07 PM ^
SC Upstate is in Atlantic Sun....Div 1. MSU played Chaminade last year and it indeed did not count as a win in the final W/L record, so not sure if this one will count for you guys.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:26 AM ^
November 12th, 2011 at 10:52 AM ^
It will count in the record, but not for RPI purposes.
November 12th, 2011 at 3:00 AM ^
AFAIK, it counts for the record, but not when looked at for NCAA tournament purposes.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
Thanks all for the responses...Looking around the nets I'm still not entirely sure, but I think Duffman is right, it's counted on the record, but does NOT factor in as far as RPI/NCAA tournament selection
November 11th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
sorry I don't know a lot about basketball, i was looking at the box score on yahoo sports and it has burke's stat line as 1-7 fg 0-4 3-pt 0 asst and douglass at 5-9 3-6 and 4 plus 4 reb. so why is everyone saying burke looked good out there and he is a better option than douglass? I didnt watch the game so im guessing he is more athletic and quick? better decision making?
November 11th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
He was smooth with the ball and got a lot of nice open looks, but they simply didn't fall. It's one thing if he's missing because he's settling for bad jumpers, trying to shoot over defenders, that kind of thing. But if he's getting honestly good looks (drove inside the line a little more often than Stu) but they aren't falling, then that's not really bad. Just unlucky.
The assists I'm wondering about too (also didn't see the game), but it's likely that Stu just had a little more experience feeding Morgan in the post that Burke doesn't have yet, but will develop. He only had one TO, so he wasn't making bad decisions. Just not great plays, yet.
November 11th, 2011 at 9:59 PM ^
I'm having a hard time reconciling your first and second paragraphs. If you didn't see the game, how do you know all that stuff in your first paragraph?
More generally, if someone is up for writing a quick summary of who played well, areas for improvement, etc., I'd love to read it. I didn't catch any of the game.
