Look, I think it's great that people are able to handle losses in level-headed ways. That's great. Awesome practice. But can we please not claim that Iowa "outplayed" us today? We had two awful turnovers, got jobbed in crucial moments by the refs, dropped key passes, and called an awful offensive game while their playcalling was beautiful rythymed. Outcoached? Yes. Outplayed? No. We're a much better football team than iowa is in terms of talent and ability. It was a perfect storm of miscues, bad luck, bad RPS, and bad officiating that did us in today.

FUCK YOU! It is next year from the previous years you said we could beat a not shitty team next year. How the fuck were they so unprepared/not ready to play this game? I had no hopes for a BIG Champ, but winning against a barely not shitty Iowa team would have given them a chance and they sucked. Fuck you Hoke, RR, and Fuck you Borges.

When we force Denard into pro-style plays, he naturally doesn't look good. That offense plays exclusively to his deficiencies. When we go to the 2-minute offense and let Denard do what Denard does well, we get lots of yards and points. Why you take a guy that went 2500/1700 last year and decide to bottle him up is beyond me.

Refs fucked us today there is no quesiton. Looked like a TD to me from Jr. and everyone in the nation knows that was an p.i. on Roy. They didnt lose the game for us though. Dumb mistakes on the offense. Devin looks like a highschool qb out there, that was awful looking.

That one toss to Vincent in the end zone was in his damn chest, that one got to me pretty good.

And yes I agree with everyone here saying that WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU NOT RUN DENARD ON A RUN PASS OPTION BORGES...jesus.

This one stung bad, FUCK SHIT FUCK PISS ASS DICK NUTS

Iowa came into this game allowing more than 400 yards per game without having played many good offenses. We only gained 323 and we scored 16 points. We've got two losses this year, both on the offense. We waste one down every series by either putting Gardner in at QB or throwing the ball 50 yards downfield.

I hope that this game will forever kill the meme that the 2010 offense was overrated because they couldn't score against good defenses or they sometimes scored a bunch of points in the second half. Today, we couldn't score against a shitty defense and we didn't score a bunch of points in the second half. This was the worst game by a Michigan offense since at least 2009. I would say 2008.

One big difference from last year to this year is the absence of a reliable backup QB. In last year's Iowa game, we were down 28-7 in the third quarter when Forcier replaced Denard and aired it all over the place and led a comeback. This year, injuries to Denard spell doom for the offense.

And all we're going to hear about is "Oh boo hoo Michigan fans just keep whining. Waah waah waah. You got outplayed and not your blaming the refs".
It's why I'll be on another exodus from our glorious local media

Here's my vent.

Denard: YOU ARE THE FASTEST PERSON ON THE FIELD STOP TRYING TO THROW THE BALL IN TRIPLE COVERAGE AND JUST SCRAMBLE FOR THE 5 YARDS THEY WERE GIVING YOU ALL DAY LONG.

Borges: YOU HAVE DENARD, HE RUNS FAST. PUT HIM IN A POSITION TO USE THOSE THINGS CALLED LEGS. NO, I DON'T MEAN DESIGNED QB RUNS, BECAUSE OBVIOUS QB RUNS ARE OBVIOUS. BUT DAMNIT, YOU DID NOT USE HIS RUNNING POTENTIAL EFFECTIVELY. ALSO WHY NO ROLLOUT AT THE END?!?!! DENARD COULD DANCE IN THE ENDZONE IN A SPLIT SECOND ARRRRRGGGHH!!!

Refs: Let's talk. I understand that the catch was close. But (1) his knee was down with possession of the ball, and (2) the ball did NOT move when Junior hit the ground, i.e. he maintained possession. I know, I know, the nose of teh ball hit the ground...BUT THE BALL DIDN'T MOVE!!! I've seen refs call that exact type of play a catch before, Y U NO DO IT NOW?! And that last play...WTF were you watching?!? It was obvious to millions of MGoWatchers, how is it not obvious to a guy standing 5 feet away?!?! You're dead to me.

Iowa Fans: QUIT YUR BITCHING! OMG a call didn't go our way BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU GUYS!!!! You had teh refs in your back pocket all day, so stop freaking the fuck out when the refs actually magically made a right call that your center moved forward before snapping the ball...illegal snap, false start, whatever you call it IT'S A PENALTY.

JT Floyd: I know Mcnutt is an awesome receiver and very hard to recover, but damnit can we not give him 10 yard cushions on 3rd and 2?!?!? I thought we left last year's tendencies to LAST YEAR.

Livebloggers: SETTLE THE FUCK DOWN. IT'S ONE FUCKING GAME. Michigan played like shit and still almost tied it. Fuck, they did, aside from the 2-pt conversion that was never run because the refs suck. Have a little faith in your team, for chissake. Down by 8 points is no reason to panic. Iowa was a non-terrible team.

Iowa: Fuck you. Fuck you for shitting the bed against a terrible Minnesota team and taking your anger out on us. Oh and Ferentz? What the hell are you doing going against EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE UP UNTIL THAT POINT IN THE SEASON by going for it on 4th and 7? Of COURSE you go for it against Michigan. Of COURSE you do.

Mother of God, am I forgetting anything? I am so angry at everything.

I still have faith in the team. Now I'm going to repeat 7-2 multiple times and hopefully I can forget the crap that we just witnessed.

Peace.

There is only one consolation to the seeming waste of this game: we revealed none of the ultra-effective plays that we are saving for Ohio.

That's a very steep price to pay - not using effective plays - but if it leads to domination over Ohio, then it's a price I am willing to pay.

1. I am done with using Smith as a every down back unless he is only in to block or catch screen passes.
2. I am done with having Taco Pants play behind every open receiver.
3. I am done with Denard thinking he can complete passes more then 20 yards down field.
4. I am done with Borges thinking Denard is a pocket passer when we need to make plays.
5. I am done the refs not calling one close play all game in our favor.
6. I am done with Michigan playing like crap all game and then trying to make a miracle happen at the end of game.

I am done now.- let the drinking begin!!

37 pass attempts? No less than 6 downfield bombs that were woefully off the mark? On the road against a bad run defense that can't handle mobile QBs? What the fuck is this?

If you want to run POWER every once in a while, fine. But don't make Denard do something that he is clearly not capable of doing. I know we're Michigan, but our QBs do not magically turn into Tom Brady or Chad Henne or Jim Harbaugh when they put a helmet on.

Hoke was handed the keys to a Ferrari and clearly has no fucking clue how to drive stick. I know the plan is to eventually transition into the BoMoellerCarr ProStyleManBallRock offense, but maybe he can do us all a favor and let the fastest QB in the NCAA run some option out of the shotgun so we can actually win some games? Pretty please, with sugar on top?

True, and Denard did throw more than that a few times under RichRod (definitely in the ND game). Plus, 4 of the passes were on the last series. It's more the overall all playcalling and balance that I have a problem with.

Denard ran the ball 12 times and I think they were all planned runs. Some (maybe half?) were options. I don't think any were scrambles or QB draws. Borges seems to have taken away all of the plays that made us so dangerous/hard to defend in 2009 & 2010 and replaced them with pocket passing and the occasional end-around, which doesn't ever seem to work.

I think all hope of avoiding another awkward transition is now lost. Hoke & Borges can't run a spread, and it's gonna be 2-3 seasons before they get their guys in and are able to do whatever it is they plan to do on offense. They do have the benefit of a veteran team, a weak Big Ten, and OSU doom, though, so we should be able to keep our heads above water and go to some bowl games. It's just a shame about Denard - he's clearly a square peg in this system. Hoke has effectively turned him into Steven Threet. If he wasn't such a standup guy I would be worried about a transfer.

Brady Hoke: When Lloyd Carr is just too old to coach anymore.

Thank God we got a Michigan man back so that we can lose winnable road games to put a downer on the season.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early for that bro. at least let brady have a few seasons worth of his recruits in. um played iowa tough despite tons of mistakes and referees screwing us. judging hoke now is ridiculous.

What on earth is Borges trying to prove. We have the most electric quarterback in the country. The oc took his legs away. Receivers not catching easy passes early. Runs getting stuffed. Defence getting gashed by iowa's tailback. Questionable calls on critical plays by the refs. The silver lining was we overcame and should/could have tied the game up.

Just seems like B1G teams know how to play the spread. If DROB doesn't throw the ball better earlier in games I think we will be destine for 7-5 again.

I just don't see us winning against big physical defenses and that what we will playing from here on out! If we do only win one more game, I sure hope we can beat OSU!!!! Hoke will get my complete thumbs up for his first season if he can end the horrible streak against OSU!!!!

The Denard/Gardner package only works against teams that are just plain inferior to us. It should be shelved for the rest of the season. Also I do not see much promise in Gardner. I know he is only a sophomore but I have been disappointed with all the mistakes he has made. If he doesn't make big improvements, Shane Morris will start.

Easiest cope is to push out the perspective visors a bit toward what we expected coming into the season with a new coaching staff fitting square pegs into round holes. I figured 8-4 was good, and looking forward to a great recruiting class coming in.

Last few years we weren't even on the same level with the Penn States and Iowas, now we are. Next year will be even better (despite losing Martin), although our schedules sucks next year.

I'm hopeful we can get one more win, get a decent bowl game, and continue progressing our program back to prominence.

I'd say it's more like:

7-5: 15%

8-4: 40%

9-3: 35%

10-2: 10%

Your odds would imply M's chance of winning each individual game is in the 10-15% range. Do you really think you could get 7:1 odds on any of those? I'm looking at money lines for today's games and that's Duke vs. Miami territory. Or Middle Tennessee vs. Tennessee.

Yeah, that's about how I see it. Illinois, Nebraska and OSU are all still winnable (and loseable) games. The latter two have stunk today. One thing that's been established again and again is how big homefield is in this league.

How does the 2010 B1G OPY need to "learn how to pass?" Is this a problem with changing philosophies, trying to turn Denard into a pocket passer, or does his QB coach suck? Look at the strides Denard made with Rod Smith from year one to year two, and look at the regression this year from where he was last year. Is this a system thing?

And hell yes, scrap the platooning or whatever the frick it's called of Denard and Devin. Every game since Minnesota, Denard hardly has a chance to get into a rhythm when they bring Gardner in. Gardner will be fine when he's the #1 QB, but fergodssakes, let Denard do what Denard does!

I keep trying to remind myself this is a transition year, but it's not getting easier.

What a shame Kirk Frerentz had to suddenly grow a pair of balls against us. Today has to be the first time he has ever gone for it on 4th and 7 in the first quarter. It's not unreasonable to say that if he punts that ball, we might have won.

I was rooting for Iowa to score to go up 24-9. I just wanted to see Michigan operate with some urgency since they apparently were fine just showing up today. Unfortunately, it caused them to lose. I prefer offenses that dictate the tempo to the defense. In the third quarter Michigan only got the ball twice. Two times, coming away with three points. I'd rather see an offense with Denard running quicker plays, out of the spread, maximizing the amount of times he has a chance to break something. I just think he's Michigan's best player, and they are not currently equipped at RB or WR to be LSU or Alabama. Thus, the fast tempo spread (though somebody please teach Denard to scramble a little on a called pass play, as we saw w/ V. Young, it's nearly impossible to stop because it puts the defense in a tough place) seems to me the best way to win football games in 2011 and 2012.

is losing to the worst Iowa team in 20 years. That team was not your typical Iowa team, they SUCK. We just sucked more. Turnovers killed us.

I disagree with everyone blaming this on Borges. No doubt you can second guess the OC every Saturday. If I have any complaint, it is not riding Fitz in the 2nd quarter when he had success. I'd also like to see more throws on 1st down to give Denard more of a chance. That said, Denard misses all the deep throws, not Borges. Tree had a TD on the one heaved eight yards over his head.

Beyond that, I agree with everyone who said "fuck everything". Commence drinking.
