Got that covered.
|29 weeks 4 days ago||Pete Carroll hubris||
the same ballsy call attitude at the end of the first half was his downfall at the end of the game.
Could not have have happened to a bigger bag!
|29 weeks 4 days ago||or perfect||
depends on your perspective.
Carroll bites and his team looks like a bunch of hoods as well.
Brady gets #4,
And all that crap about 1psi
ESPN and all the collective haters can eat it!
|29 weeks 4 days ago||Brady >>> Carroll||
|29 weeks 4 days ago||So belichek||
Is human. Truth be told that is an incredible brain fart from a Defensive Genius. I hope that does not end up being the diff. Pete Caroll is one dirty MF. Damn I hope he loses.
|32 weeks 2 days ago||M needs a great coaching job to repeat 69||
total agreement. And some fun facts.
OSU outgained M 416 - 372 this year in a blood thirsty rivalry game, where they never lack motivation, and they had zero turnovers to our 2 (one a fumble -six).
OSU rolled up 538 yds on Oregon with 4 turnovers of their own, this could have been 600+ with little imagination. M's D looked waaay less outmanned than the mighty ducks.
They will have a QB controversey next year of epic proportion.
It is obvious that the Big Ten was not as much of a limp dishrag as the rest of the football world assumed last year, not that this excuses M's year, but it is a fact that they we're not losing to cream puffs or donuts or whatever. Which is what made it so hard to experience, the repeated squandering of talent.
the year to year variability in the development and achievement of kids this age is an order of magnitude higher than pro players, lots can and will happen between then and now.
And I almost forgot. We just got a certified great coach.
Every action has a reaction. I'm calling for a 24-12 M victory or facsimile thereof at the big house.
|32 weeks 3 days ago||Staff is really coming together||
How jacked would you all be if those were your coaches?! Screw winter, spring and summer, bring this on now.
|33 weeks 4 days ago||Jim Joyce, The Trey Burke Call in Atlanta, Dallas Refs||
Just when you think those jerks can't be any worse, they dig deep and blow away your wildest expectatons.
Jim Joyce actually apologized so there is nothing to really hate on there. He was big enough to admit the mistake.
Screw the rest of them. NFL sucks, period.
|33 weeks 4 days ago||Weight training, coaching, film room, preparation||
What the fuck does any of that matter when some dick jerk off ref decides the outcome? Fuck You NFL.
|33 weeks 4 days ago||Yes the Lions are the Lions||
But the m-fucking NFL did this as much as anyone. You can go 2-3 years of watching NFL football without seeing some jerk off ref pick up the flag. But THEY picked up that one at THAT time. Well Holy Shit, Jerry Jones almost didn't win at home against Detroit? Well that is just unacceptable, and it was.
Universal law proven once again, always, when there is the opportunity, F Detroit. Hockey, Football, whatevert, Doesn't really matter.
|33 weeks 4 days ago||Fuck the NFL, football ends when they graduate||
Fucking joke. I have stated many time, there is a universal law I have stated many times for all sports and even all situations. When in doubt: "Fuck Detroit".
Need I say more?
|33 weeks 6 days ago||Most important name (not) on the depth chart||
I cannot wait to see the names that barely registered this year that we will be worried about keeping all four years at this time next year.
|33 weeks 6 days ago||The KISS principle||
Simple reads and 5 man boxes. I did not save or re watch this game for the simple reason that once was enough, but I recall a couple of third and 3 or so where they schemed all but 5 guys out of the box and Jones simply blasted ahead for the first down. I consider this to be man ball, I hope we are not ruling such approaches out with our MB schemes. One does not have to go "full commie" here to use such approaches.
|33 weeks 6 days ago||This is no more scary||
than what any great coach that develops talent would have. For years M recruited great classes and we kept looking at the two deep wondering how we would piece together a team that could win let alone dominate. Given what Meyer is able to recruit year in year out, it AND that talent is actually growing under his program, this is what you get.
Take the Stanford trajectory under Harbs and apply that to the recruiting he will achieve here (not to mention what is already here) and I will bet the farm we will have the same thing going on soon.
|34 weeks 2 days ago||Buckeye pride||
goeth before a fall. Check out "11 Warriors" . Sure it is not all bomb throwers but it is more than a simple majority that proudly proclaims that Harbaugh will live in some kind of football purgatory bowing down in perpituity before the almighty urban. Another bunch of them think M did this now simply to distract them from their game with Alabama!
Sure it is THE rivalry, but their obsession with M is waaaaay worse than our obsession with them. Bizarre.
I used to root for the rest of the Big Ten in all their bowl games. Talk about wasted emotion. Older and wiser now. Only OSU could make me root for Nick Saban. UFB.
|34 weeks 2 days ago||Anyone at any level||
That has played for both a real good coach and a lousy coach understands the difference it makes and why there is so much reason to be excited. The margin between mediocrity and greatness can be razor thin and great coaches get this and take care of the details. Think about M for the last few years and you get a vision of some guy chronically late for meetings with his shirt untucked, clothes not matching, stumbling into the room all disheveled. It is asking a lot for talent to overcome poor management and leadership.
Harbaugh has already done much more with much less before. The talent is there, its likely angry and hungry. Expect talent to start realizing its potential this year.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Also expecting positive surprises||
Smart recruits will jump on board. Saban, Meyer, Dantonio - their NFL coaching success is what again? Elite recruits are looking at the next level. Harbaugh wins at both levels and has developed talent at both levels. He has proven he can win with a Luck type player and a Kaepernick type (despite the rough go recently) which means he is not a cookie cutter ideologue (his observed man ball preference notwithstanding). Which also means certain types of players may not simply rule M out from the get go. At a minimum he is on equal recruiting footing with his top peers out there.
I'd say his sales pitch is going to be pretty sound. A proven guy that has won at both levels and can show kids he knows how to get them to the next level as well. I'm predicting a better than expected 15 class. Realy going out on a limb here, I'd say much better than expected.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Amen to point 4||
Nobody does it better, over a long period of time, than the hapless tabbies.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Good point||
Hard to dispute that.
And, I still say, given any situation that could go one way or another, when in doubt, always bet that Detroit will be screwed. It is just how it is. Some kind of karma or the like.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Stupid but||
Why not a big fine? It's not like he drew blood. Sure, the guy is a tool, and obviously the tool should have known he was on thin ice, but apparently he just isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer. None of this is a defense of the big idiot.
Still, I do not believe I am paranoid when I say this, and yes my wife rolls her eyes every f-ing time I do, but when in doubt, whether it be officiating or a ruling like this, the default position is every single time "screw Detroit". It could be any sport (especially hockey against any f-ing team from the West Coast in the Stanley Cup) or almost any topic, when in doubt always "screw Detroit".
One man's unscientific opinion.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Tempering expectations (not)||
just can't do that. Sure QB is a question mark. But dang, the overall talent relative to most of the teams on the schedule is there and sufficient to win. And we have a coach now that is a proven talent multiplier. Will they be a 10 /11 win team, maybe not. But dang, a lot of people had M winning 10+ last year.
Also of note is the fact that this team has to be rabid hungry after last year's death march. I am going to assume a state of irrational exhuberance until the empirical data tells me otherwise!
|35 weeks 2 days ago||an invaluable service||
Quite simply yeoman's work here. Without this perspective one could think that they were perhaps simply unreasonable, unhinged, losing it, had unrealistic expectations, even did not at all understand the game of football itself. This analysis serves to reinforce that what we could clearly see with our eyes, was exactly what was causing the visceral tourettes behavior, and even more importantly, that this behavior was not my fault.
Wife is not buying it, hey nobody's perfect.
|36 weeks 1 day ago||It should be the best job in all of sports||
and being paid like it, is fine by me.
|36 weeks 4 days ago||Count me in, free beers, shots, whatever it takes||
but also count me as wanting coach H to come here because he sees this as a crusade against what is frankly an unjust state of the universe. In their heart of hearts, even buckeye fans know that this current state of being is unhealthy, not that those pricks would not be happy with 30 wins in a row.
I bleed blue and I want coach Harbaugh here, if he wants to be here. Coach H is going to command major quid no matter what, so that will not be the issue. I want him here because he has seen that the universe is totally f-ed up and that he can personally set a direction to fix it.
|36 weeks 4 days ago||Irregardless||
Irregardless of what has transpired or what we want, If coach Harbaugh is headed this way, I hope it is because he sees this as personal crusade against what is frankly a state of being that is not just unhealthy for his alma mater, but something that viscerally impacts his personal sense of being. If his coming here is some kind of circumstantial escape. then give me someone else.
I bleed blue, and I love the idea of Harbaugh coming home, if he wants to. I don't want him escaping here, but sprinting here out of a sense of destiny or duty or some other higher purpose. One man's opinion...
|36 weeks 5 days ago||Hence my contention||
That referring to the whole topic as a talent issue is 2nd order to the coaching issue. Eventually, assuming the existence of effective coaching, this ridiculously unbalanced situation will regress back to the mean. Until then enoy it while it lasts.
|36 weeks 6 days ago||You beat me to that by less than 1 min||
too much wine here, lost an edge
|36 weeks 6 days ago||Bullstit||
I can't believe this, I call bullstit.
|36 weeks 6 days ago||Results are results||
No getting past that. Exchange teams and leave the coaches where they are and within mabye 1 and for sure 2 seasons we are having the same conversation. There is simply nowhere near enough talent differential to explain the gap between 12-1 and 5-7. You are describing outcomes here, more than you are talent.
Sure, coaches don't play the game, it all plays out on the field. But read militarty history, I seem to recall Woody teaching such topics. The outcomes of most major battles were practically pre-ordained by the preparation / plan / scheme / whatever. That is why I wanted to puke hearing Hoke keep saying "we didn't execute". Bull crap. Our coaches were expecting to be bailed out on being out smarted by the opposing coaches by the players, who were constantly put in positions not to be successful. How else do you explain the collective puke fests with Rutgers and Maryland? Heck, lets do a "tale of the tape" on Minnesota's collective "as recruited" talent.
OSU's talent advantages can evaporate pretty quickly if M ever lures a competent staff here. Did John Cooper go 2-10-1 with inferior talent? Most people saw M as the underdog in a marjority of those games. The talent analysis, once you have two teams who routinely recruit top 15 or better classes, is a 2nd order function in this. OSU has superior coaching right now, and that is really all you need to know.
Ps. My wife is a Buckeye and I will pretend to root for her team on Jan 1. My son (Class of 2004) just can't bring himself to fake it.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||Either way||
You listen to Harbaugh and to me it is impossible not to respect and admire the guy. Everyone talks about what an absolute competitive freak Tom Brady is. He has nothing on Harbaugh. You can just see him seething beneath the surface during this presser yet not losing it. You also get the sense that the reporters are afraid to ask him a stupid question. Even if we don't get him, this reminds me why he is the best possible option and I wish him well no matter what.
I will say this, if M does not at least make him a sick big offer, under these circumstances, it is some form of business malpractice.
