Ohio St doesnt sell out AGAIN ....

Submitted by ralphgoblue on December 23rd, 2021 at 6:34 PM

Ohio St football team only has 7 home sellouts in their past 12 home games and had to return a 1/3  of its allotted tix for the Rose Bowl, due to lack of sales..

I understand they were disappointed about how the season ended, esp having what 247 calls "Ohio St most talented roster they have ever put on a football field"   but you would think they could sell 20 000 tix to its fan base ..which im guessing has to be one of the top 25-30 in college football.

How to add link. (I appreciated someone informing me when I didn't know.)

Above the Comment box, there's a B for bold, an I for Italics, and then there's a flattened oval, meant to look like the link in a chain.

Click that link-like object, and a box opens. Paste your address in it.

LOL, they're too good for the Rose Bowl. It makes me happy that their fans are still unhappy. They need Michigan to beat them down next season in the shoe.

Columbus will burn to the ground by nightfall if Michigan wins again next season.

The one drawback to winning as much as they have is that it teaches you absolutely nothing about how to prepare for and handle losing.

Not a single program in America deserves to spend the next two decades wandering the desert more than OSU does.

I’m with you. I’m not that “root for the big 10” guy. I don’t mind if Iowa wins, good fans and I personally like Ferentz. Seeing Penn State win just gives their fans reason not to completely check out. I’d never root for that ass hat from Indiana under any circumstances, or even Rutgers or Purdue after their coach put a bounty on Wiltons head. So just pretty much Iowa then I guess. Minnesota I could give two shits about as well. Kind of tired of Tressels knob slobber and hearing about his dam row boat.

Good grief.  Never ever EVER pull for OSU or MSU, unless somehow it benefits Michigan.  In an immediate way, not in the "makes the B1G better" way.

When forced to choose... the Buckeyes and Sparties are playing each other..... after I pray for the earth to swallow them all, I grudgingly pull for Sparty in a 3 to 2 sludgefart full of ineptitude, turnovers, and egregious officiating.

You know you’ve got a spoiled fan base that can’t appreciate or recognize how good it’s had it for the last twenty years when it can’t even sell out for the Rose Bowl. Anything less than a CFP appearance is an abject failure to them.

But in an effort to be fair, I recognize that it’s extremely costly to fly cross country and throw down thousands of dollars for airfare, hotels and tickets. And it’s not like football tickets have been getting any cheaper in the last decade. And I’m not sure if California has different, more strict COVID protocols for entering sporting events.

All that being said, fuck OSU and it’s spoiled rotten fans. They have no idea how good they had it since the day Tressel set foot on campus.

What a bunch of babies.  They should feel gratitude for playing in the the Rose Bowl against a quality opponent.  Oh wait, sorry.  I forgot which fanbase we're talking about.

Most of this was probably disappointment and the post Mich letdown. There could also be an element that California might not be perceived to be the best state to travel to in the time of COVID. I have no idea what the social life (bars/restaurants etc.) is like there right now. Throw in concerns over plane travel and this is not a typical Rose Bowl trip.

Utah is thrilled to be there. Throw in some uncertainty as to which OSU stars may be sitting out (I've heard that Olave who is from the area is playing but that 3-4 others may not) and I'm thinking that Utah plus 6.5 might not be a bad bet.

I think some of it is a letdown, especially after going to the playoffs last year.  I think concerns about traveling to CA might be overblown but the cost probably isn't - I'm getting a lotta bad vibes around OSU right now so if I was a fan I probably wouldn't want to fork over a bunch of money to see them haphazardly get run over by a Utes team that is pretty talented and is super-excited about playing the game.

I live in Ohio and like most places people are getting tired of the prices at these games. People are getting tired of spending $500 on a Saturday and would rather have a nice set up at home and have 20 people over to watch the game.
