Sparty uniforms for game vs. Michigan
Ugh! http://www.msuspartans.com/view.gal?id=101374
EDIT: Here is a link to an online column by Grinczel from the site: http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/091311aac.html.
Love this line:
"Unveiled Tuesday morning by Nike, the uniforms are stylishly understated compared to many contemporary alternative uniforms seen these days throughout sports, though beyond hip for today's techno-savvy college football player."
"If an iPad were a football uniform, it would look like this."

lol the fuck is that
September 13th, 2011 at 9:43 AM ^
That is really repulsive. Whats with the gold in the helmet? This looks more like an ND throwback than anything related to Sparty.
What happened to Go Green, Go White.......errrr..........gold?
September 13th, 2011 at 9:50 AM ^
If I was shown these uniforms with no writing on them, I would have guess ND, USF, Baylor, and Tulane before I guessed MSU. Jesus these are disgusting.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
Why they put gold on MSU uniforms, I don't know. They look like Oregon cast-offs, though perhaps they are too understated for Oregon.
September 13th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
Exactly. A totally derivative me-too look. Could be anyone - ND, Baylor, Col State . . . All the cool kids are smoking, so I will too.
If you are going to make a clown of yourself, at least do it like Maryland and get some buzz out of it. All Sparty really did was paint the helmet gold (wtf, gold?). *Yawn*
September 13th, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
The glove thing is starting to get real annoying as well.
September 13th, 2011 at 10:01 AM ^
At least it pretty much guarantees they pick up a 15 yarder for flashing it to the crowd.
September 13th, 2011 at 11:26 AM ^
Live ball foul now, unless you are SC.
Actually, if your colors were green and gold I would not mind, the jerseys look alright to me. But being state that makes no sense.
September 13th, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
I'd make sure I'd yell out "Cool logo, bro!" as I'm reaching for the flag.
September 13th, 2011 at 12:41 PM ^
September 13th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
a nice throw back to the traditional colors of Spartan warriors.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:25 AM ^
oh my god, that's perfect. that's the crappiest '1990s Baylor'esque crap Nike Combat has put out. i can't imagine how pissed i would be to have waited for my turn for the Nike AWESOMEZ treatment and see that absolute turd come out. when in the hell has MSU had gold in their fundamental color scheme?
September 13th, 2011 at 9:27 AM ^
They were black and gold, with "winged" (ish) helmets
September 13th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
these Combat uniforms are black, forest/dark green and bronze.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:40 AM ^
Could you imagine the reaction here if Michigan announced that their Pro Combat uniforms were going to be White and Blue? Holy buckets.
September 13th, 2011 at 12:04 PM ^
Except we've always had white on our aways, this is like if we announced we were having blue jerseys with red helmets
September 13th, 2011 at 1:00 PM ^
Schtum... David Brandon's minions might be monitoring this transmission...
September 13th, 2011 at 9:43 AM ^
I was trying to figure out what team that reminded me of.....Baylor!
September 13th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
I immediately thought they were patterned after the Wayne State Tartars!
September 13th, 2011 at 9:47 AM ^
Yep, Baylor Bears all the way. I'm sure The Situation approves though.
September 13th, 2011 at 11:13 AM ^
I hate to break it to you, but those are actually way better than Michigan State's standard uniforms, which are utter trash.
The only thing that's perfect here is that Michigan State has to revert back to homely uniforms that resemble their rubbish stadium (which looks like it's going to fall apart in a heavy wind).
Those are probably in the running for the most understated and least tech-sleaze Pro Combat uniforms Nike has put out.
September 13th, 2011 at 11:17 AM ^
Agreed completely. This is an upgrade from their recent main uniform. However, I kinda miss (?!?) their only uniform wit the simple green up top and white on bottom. Don't know why....probably cause it didn't look like absolute garbage
September 13th, 2011 at 11:37 AM ^
Pitt and West Virginia have included allusions to the Steel and Coal industries on their Pro Combat Unis in the past. This is simply a reference to the many tanning salons that have served MSU students of both genders for many years in EL.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:25 AM ^
And turn East Lansing inti Ann Arbor West
September 13th, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
I don't even think they would deserve to have "Ann Arbor" in the name to be honest.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:26 AM ^
Those are hideous
September 13th, 2011 at 9:26 AM ^
Those are ugly as a mugg. Not really ever impressed with any of the pro-combat uni's. I think I've liked a couple of Boise's renditions...but that's about it.
Like those Arizona State jersey's from the other night - these for the spartans are fugly.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:27 AM ^
I can hear it now... "Go Green!" "Go Bronze!"
And thank you Nike for setting up the execssive celebration penalties for gesturing to the crowd with the helmet on the gloves.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:35 AM ^
That was my thought also. MSU chants "go green go white" and there is no white anywhere on the uniform? Regardless of the fact that bronze has nothing to do with thier current color schemes, how do you not at least include some white in the unifrom?
September 13th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
those chants will be a bunch of mumbling due to the mass confusion of what to chant.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:28 AM ^
What's up with the tramp stamp?
September 13th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
Duh, it's MSU.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:28 AM ^
i see they went the georgia route and all players are legally changing their last names to SPARTANS for the game. sweet.
September 13th, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
I felt like a giant idiot when I mused to my girlfriend about how one of Georgia's players had the last name of Georgia. I really hope I was intoxicated.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:28 AM ^
I bet the Freep will be extra careful to make sure these are real before reporting on them. Oh wait, nevermind, it's the Freep.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
hmmm so they going to cheer Go Green Go Gold instead? also its like there embarassed to be spartans, can barely see it on the jersey
September 13th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
there are no airbrushed Leonidas abs on there anywhere?
September 13th, 2011 at 9:40 AM ^
Ohio State's pro combats. They look like Georgia's crappy uniforms, only worse.
September 13th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
I love how the under-sleeve part of these make it look like a sleeve of tats. Very fitting for OSU.
September 13th, 2011 at 11:37 AM ^
Is it bad that the first thing I thought when I saw this was: "I wonder which suspended player they used to model that garbage?"
September 13th, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
Nike: These are all starting to look the same. Every red team looks like every other red team. This has played out like the Macarena.
September 13th, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^

September 13th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
I actually think those are great, for me to poop on.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:30 AM ^
we were playing Notre Dame again...
September 13th, 2011 at 9:33 AM ^
That's what I thought. They have ND envy.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:31 AM ^
....White? Wha' happened to the white? If I'm not mistaken, here is a snippet of lyrics from the Sparty fight song:
All through the game they fight; Fight for the only colors: Green and White.
If your fight song lauds your team colors, THEN YOU DON'T CHANGE THEM! Massive fail here,MSU. Shame on you.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:33 AM ^
First Ohio tries their best to look like Rutgers, now State wants everyone to confuse them with Baylor?
Well done, ProCombat dudes.
September 13th, 2011 at 9:37 AM ^
Seriously guys, seriously. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
Do they want to look like Notre Dame? Green and GOLD?
EDIT:
OK it's supposed to be "bronze". No one is buying that. :)
September 13th, 2011 at 9:33 AM ^
Hilarious!
