OT - All-SEC CB Janoris Jenkins dismissed by Florida
Caught with marijuana for his second drug-related arrest in 3 months. Big loss for the Gators, bigger loss for Jenkins himself since he could've entered the draft and continued his lifestyle.
Muschamp laying down the law.
He got right on that.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but I'd think a second arrest would be much more problematic than the first.
making fun of the Tressel e-mail reply.
Thanks !! I got it ASAP after your reply !!
I need all the +1s I can get. Gotta hit that magical 50 count.
It's 100 FYI. And sorry to tell you, +1's aren't working right now, so you'll have to settle with a little green number next to your post that doesn't actually affect your points.
Well thanks for the thought anyway.... I keep hearing the senior members talk about points, but as a newby who can't use the function anyway, it hasn't effected me yet.
Although, I was the first one on the blog to talk about the golden pants issue, but couldn't make a new thread about it. Rules are rules though... gotta keep the riff raff out.
So he has forever to get to 500?
Shh...I was trying to give him an incentive to make some sweet posts. It's an MGoBlog secret that we won't lose.
I'm a newbie as well. What happens once you hit 100? Or is it some sort of a blog secret??

Thanks a lot, I've got an itchy +1 finger, can't wait for that 100.
Of the East Lansing Catch And Release Program Here
(When did that leave the MGoStore????)
Because even second chances, deserve second chances
+1 to Muschamp for putting integrity before winning
What the fuck is it about weed that makes people blow their scholarships and the best opportunity they'll ever have because they can't get enough of smoking it?
There was a guy in my ROTC unit at UVA who got himself kicked out in his senior year for repeatedly smoking weed. Out-of-state kid, too. Thank you for coming, but your military service will not be necessary, so we'll need that $100,000 back now.
That's ridiculous. I decided two years ago to try and go the Marine OCS route, and it's pretty simple: just don't smoke if you want to do that. It really isn't even that hard not to, since you can still drink or hang around people who like to smoke. It'd be even easier if I had an OOS scholarship at UVA that required me not to.
Trust me when I tell ya, don't bring up smoking weed with this crowd.
lol
Honestly I don't have any problem with people smoking weed. It's not my thing, and I probably wouldn't even if I could, but I have several good friends who enjoy it. It's their decision and body, and given my enjoyment of a beer or two, I don't really feel like I can say that getting into an altered state of mind is the worst thing in the world; you just have to be able to do that and be responsible with your other obligations.
The issue here isn't weed per se, it's an unwillingness to follow simple rules. I personally think that weed should be taxed and regulated in the same manner as alcohol and tobacco, but the fact is that it's illegal and for Jenkins to potentially mess up his career and his life over it is just careless and stupid.
Oh clearly very stupid. I don't think anyone would argue he was smart in this case.
I happen to think it should be legalized, but while it isn't, I'm going to not smoke it if I have something to lose.
It mystifies me too. I smoked enough of it in HS and early college to eventually get bored with it, but even if I loved it I never would have jeopardized a full-ride scholarship and potential NFL contracts worth millions.
As Lloyd and others have said, "Life is tough if you're stupid."
Good to see justice in the SEC. Usually SEC justice is a "slap on the wrist". Urb was notorious for hilariously weak penalties, like suspending transgressors for a series or a quarter.
bad timing for that too, in more than one way
Wonder how high he'll go since he'll clearly get blacklisted as having drug issues. Teams have to sacrifice their pick the following year if they take him but he's clearly talented. Maybe someone takes a flyer with a third of fourth rounder.
Based on the reason for his dismissal, it sounds like he'll go pretty high to the supplemental draft.
...he'll go very hiiiiiiiiiiigh.
Lions can take a LB or rush DE and grab this guy in the 3rd/4th? Thankfully the Lions are very good at cleaning up a guy and readying him for the trials of the NFL...
He could go in the supplemental draft, but that's a different ballgame. The Lions would essentially have to 'outbid' the rest of the league on what pick in next year's draft they'd like to give up to get him.
I'm curious as to who the Lions have cleaned up and readied for the rigors of the NFL. My thoughts immediately go to the spectacular failure of Charles Rogers, and I'm drawing a blank on a counter-example.
I expect there are likely a few examples, but I'm not aware of a Warren Sapp-like redemption story for the Lions.
Urban Meyer used to let alot of stuff slide, so I applaud the new coaching staff for this.
Looks like the Michigan secondary hating god is vacationing in Florida for the time being.
*EDIT* Thank you for the correction. That was dumb of me to think he could go in the draft with it taking place in 2 days. lol
he was definitely a first rounder had he come out. blew a lot of money this guy.
in other news, legalize it!!! ;)
Perhaps he and Ricky Williams were hanging out on South Beach over Spring Break thinking up new ways to cost themselves millions of dollars.
It's just marijuana
NSFW or home. But still funny.
Get counseling, work with an S&C guru for a year, enter draft, get stolen by good team in late round, make money, problem solved.
The kid will be all right.
First Dunkley decides to transfer, now Janoris is dismissed from the team. Doesn't look like Muschamp is making any friends in Pahokee.
Holy crap, I didn't see that Dunkley was transferring. That dude is good at the football. Maybe he can take Williamson's place...
EDIT: Never mind. It looks like he's going to USF.
An Sec school lawing down the law.
Wow. Coach Muschamp is not fucking around at all. Im glad to see this. A coach actually doing the right thing. Jenkins was arguably the best returning DB in football. That is how you set an example for your team. Tressel should be even more ashamed of what he did. Props to Mr Muschamp.
...Jenkins just didn't have a marijuana cigarette....he had a marijuana CIGAR. That boy sure does like his marijuana if he had it in a cigar form. I wonder if it was a Churchill or a Presidente? Or maybe he got creative and wraped it as a Torpedo?
....they'd too be lock down corners.
Cullen, are you paying attention? :P
He'll be in it with TP and the boyz.
Jenkins doesn't understand. Smoking doobies and doing donuts in the parking lot was a-ok under Urban.
