Visual breakdown of each AP voter this week
Most have UM at 4 with a few swapping UM with UGA for the 5th spot, which is understandable. Two people put UM At 6th behind UGA and OU... and then there's Jim Alexander (UCLA grad), who believes UM is a solid 7, behind UGA and OU (5 and 6) and Ohio State at #4. Yep.

??? someone clearly hasn’t watched OSU play this season
November 4th, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
He has all 16-23 as G5 teams too (with no other Big Ten teams).
November 4th, 2018 at 10:07 PM ^
Da fuck?? How does he have a vote?
November 5th, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
It does raise a serious question about who gets this privilege. So many of these voters seem like random people from small/regional newspapers.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:15 PM ^
Someone always has to be the smartest guy in the room.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:33 PM ^
He’s the douchiest of bags.
November 4th, 2018 at 10:03 PM ^
That guy will never be him.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:17 PM ^
Jim Alexander is widely acknowledged to be a knob.
November 4th, 2018 at 10:19 PM ^
Door or penis? Asking because I truly don't know which one he is.
November 5th, 2018 at 10:27 AM ^
I thought he was a rube.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:19 PM ^
hell yeah the penn state writer dropped them from his top 25
November 4th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Neill Ostrout has UCF at 4 and UM at 5 - which at least makes a little sense since all four undefeated would be first in a reward based ranking (if that's what he's going for here).
November 4th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
UCF at 4 makes ZERO sense.
November 5th, 2018 at 7:50 AM ^
I'm saying that, if that voter was approaching the poll such that undefeateds do not drop (reward them for their record alone) it makes some sense at least. If a voter was approaching the poll as a predictive tool (judging which team is actually better), then it would not make sense. I am not saying that UCF is a better team than UM. I bring this up in contrast to putting OSU above UGA, OU, and UM... which has no obvious justification that I can see.
November 5th, 2018 at 8:08 AM ^
I will credit them for this win streak that they’re on, but they’d get absolutely obliterated by anyone in the top 4.
They don’t deserve to even sniff the playoff. At least not until the field expands to six or eight teams, or they schedule some really good P5 teams for OOC, beat them, and then obliterate the rest of their schedule.
November 4th, 2018 at 10:28 PM ^
There are probably some undefeated high school teams out there. If strength of schedule doesn’t mean anything, why don’t they get a shot at the CFP? Oh right, because that would be stupid, like putting UCF in the CFP for beating cupcakes.
November 4th, 2018 at 10:46 PM ^
UCF is a total joke. Put them in the B1G East or SEC West and see how many times they go undefeated.
November 5th, 2018 at 10:29 AM ^
Hell, put them in the BIG West or SEC East and they'd finish .500
November 4th, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
OSU at 4 is pathetic. Guy should not be allowed to vote for such stupidity. Even most OSU fans don’t think they are top-5.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:37 PM ^
Who cares, useless poll
November 4th, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
November 5th, 2018 at 12:55 AM ^
True you are correct about discussion and TV ratings, but both those polls also (unfortunately) have a huge influence on how good teams' wins and how bad teams' losses are perceived to be. For instance, look at all the love LSU got for beating Miami and OSU got for beating TCU and Texas for beating USC. The initial playoff rankings would probably look a lot different without those two polls.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
I'm sure UCF will take Neill Ostrout placing them at 4 as all the proof anyone needs to just give them the national championship right now.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:53 PM ^
Two in a row. Dynasty.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:59 PM ^
The Maryland guy has Michigan 6th haha
November 4th, 2018 at 10:20 PM ^
A visual breakdown of Jim Alexander’s ballot shows some probable effects of CTE. The carriage of his typewriter once hit him in the skull whilst fellating himself. Besides theO$U at 4 he has NC St at 14 and UAB at 20.

Pretty sure a 1 loss Michigan is rated above an undefeated ND three weeks from now. ND has one quality win (Michigan), while Michigan will have 5 or 6.
Just win the damn games.
November 5th, 2018 at 8:46 AM ^
Normally, I think you would be correct. However, since ND would be undefeated and have a win over UM, it may be hard for the committee to put UM before them due to the optics.
November 5th, 2018 at 1:22 AM ^
After studying that list my takeaway is:
Amongst the "affiliations" Michigan is represented with 1/2 an affiliation while -
tPOSu has 2.5
LSU 3
UF, Bama, Notre Shame, Wake Forest - all with 2.
UM is tied for last amongst affiliations on the list of voters at .5 and 45 schools with more representation.
November 5th, 2018 at 8:03 AM ^
I respectfully disagree with the notion that UGA over UM is "understandable." Georgia got pummeled by LSU who has two losses while UM lost by seven to an undefeated Notre Dame squad.
UM is better than UGA and deserves to be ranked ahead of them.
November 5th, 2018 at 8:49 AM ^
I say "understandable" since you could construct some reasonable arguements for putting either ahead of the other (as opposed to some of the other rankings the voters have, which can be mind boggling at times). I personally would put UM over UGA just now, but it's all academic right now anyway.
November 5th, 2018 at 9:19 AM ^
Gotta love this from a B1G voter.
Maryland beat Texas who beat Oklahoma. Michigan soundly beat Maryland.

Here's a Michigan-specific breakdown by week - LINK
I want to know what we did to this Jim Alexander guy to earn a #7 in the latest poll.
November 5th, 2018 at 12:07 PM ^
He clearly isn't voting with any reason. A week after the blowout loss to Purdue, he moved them from 7th to 4th during a BYE week.
