Sam Webb says two of his sources are telling him Harbaugh to Michigan is unlikely

Submitted by Raskolnikov on

"The feeling of two sources that know and talk to Harbaugh (one of which has been actively selling the 49ers coach on the virtues of returning to Michigan) is that he isn’t likely to choose college over the pros.  It’s a sentiment that has grown stronger over the past few days."

That is the question, who do you trust? JUB thinks Harbaugh is the favorite, Sam says per his sources he is not interested. Personally I try not to get caught up in the speculation and conjecture as I think we are just setting ourselves up for a major disappointment. Regardless who is hired, we need to rally around the Head Coach as the toxicity/negativity around the program has effects.

A writer for one of the Detroit papers told me "people close to Harbaugh" say the deal is almost done for him to come here. "Why don't you write that then?" I asked. "Because my editors don't think 'people close to Harbaugh' is a good-enough source. i'm working on it."

So there's that.

Right now, I do not care that you could be completely making this up to mess with us, or that your source could be making it up to mess with you, or that this could all be a fever dream brought on by my lack of sleep and jet lag.

Right now I'm going to believe that you are the most reliable informant on the internet since the development of ARPANET.

Sam Webb is great with recruiting and team info. On the coaching search front, I think I will wait until another "insider" says this before I react in any way

Tom and Sam are playing good cop/bad cop. Historically, Sam is the optimistic one and Beaver the pessimist. They just switched roles on this one. Don't fret guys. Everything is still in place until Jimmy boy himself publicly says no. I do wish for this to get played out behind the scenes. Don't wanna have another Herbstreit moment.

All the important people inside and outside the Athletic Department need to be united and support him 100%.  It doesn't matter what us average fans do, it matters what the former players, coaches, etc. do.  If it's Harbaugh, can't see it being a problem.  If it's someone else-anyone else-they all need to get over it and love them some new Michigan coach.  The infighting that apparently has been going on since Bo died is the biggest factor in screwing up the program, IMO.

Amen. It's gotta stop

Come on we have seen completely different reports all over the place so far, articles saying he doesn't want to leave the pros, to ones where he is more then likely coming. We will have to just wait patiently which I have a hard time with myself on this search

Surprised and very happy if he came but I'm more nervous about plan B and plan C if need be. We've been rebuilding for way too long. This is something that probably happened to this extent in any of our life times

already a few times, until Jim says no himself there is still hope... at his last presser he avoided any questions about Michigan, to me if he wasn't leaving the NFL he would have shot them down right then and there...

Disappointing perhaps, but I can't see how this is a surprise to anyone.

If he's not coming I hope there's a plan A, B, and C going and serious ones.

It looks like Ohio States case of the stars aligning for Urban isn;t going to happen for Michigan and while that sucks, it may be for the best to get the fan base past this whole pining for something that will never happen.
