POSBANG Happy Birthday Jim Harbaugh

Submitted by timtebro on December 23rd, 2020 at 2:10 PM

While I'm not as high on him as I once was, I still love this man. Jim turned 57 years young today. It will be extra special if we can get a DC / Defensive staff news today!

Happy birthday, Jim!

Naw. To this crowd there are “NO EXCUSES!” If they aren’t made happy it’s “UNACCEPTABLE!”

They must be a riot as a boss. “I got a flat tire and my Jack broke, sorry I’m late.” “YOURE FIRED! It’s your sixth year here! OTHER PEOPLE HAVE MADE MEETINGS! THEY HAD TO WEATHER THE COMMUTE JUST LIKE YOU!” “But my record shows good results, and I’m way better than the last two in my position” “NO EXCUSES!”

”daddy I’m sorry I wet the bed, I’m sick and have a high fever”

”NO EXCUSES! You are six years old! Your cousin in Wisconsin doesn’t wet the bed!”

Happy Birthday Jim!

I still find it odd though that he's vacationing out here right now with so much uncertainty, I said it in an earlier OP, I just wonder if he's sneaking in an interview with the Chargers?

you can't call and be BFF's until you do what you were tasked with the other day:  find harbaugh out there right in your backyard and see what the deal is. report back here.  then you make your phone call to randall.

EDIT:  you did that in another thread.  great stuff.

I always wondered how the presents worked for people that have birthdays around the holidays. I work with someone whose birthday is December 27th and he says they just rolled his birthday into Christmas each year growing up, for example, but I am sure traditions vary. My birthday is in July, nowhere near anything, which makes for no excuses on gifts as a result, which I admittedly enjoy.

Oh, and of course, happy birthday to Jim!

I think most families try to keep the birthday and Christmas celebrations separate, so the child doesn't feel shortchanged.  That's how it was for me and other people I've known with December birthdays.  (You still feel kind of shortchanged, because you have one week of getting presents during the year instead of two for other people, but it's nice to at least have your own day.)

Having a birthday before Christmas was nice in one respect: I could get some presents early and didn’t have to wait for Santa.  Having a birthday the week after Christmas would be worse.

If your birthday is right on the 25th, I’m guessing you’d try to celebrate it on a different day.

Oh yeah, extended family would generally make little distinction between the two for me.  Though to be honest, I didn’t really expect them to give me much.  (I’ve learned as an adult that it’s actually pretty hard to buy gifts for someone you see like twice a year.) As long as my immediate family respected the difference, it was OK.

I learned a very valuable lesson about this not too long after meeting my current wife. Her birthday is Dec 26th.. she explained to me (probably making sure I was listening) that growing up it sucked because her aunts, uncles , grandparents etc. would just group the two of them together. Then when she got older , no one was in town to go out and drink etc... she turned out ok I guess.. lol. Like you I have a summer birthday in August.. no excuses

Yea the 26th like my wife’s as well, is a tough day for sure. This is my wife’s 40th, and I have tried to make this one as special as I can despite Covid. Trying to do as much as possible . I splurged a little for some gifts that I know she is not expecting. Cant do a whole lot of group type stuff but I do have a surprise dinner for her at her favorite restaurant. Her parents are going to show up there as a surprise from out of town. Hopefully I can at least help her forget about Covid for one day at least. Not how we would originally like to do a 40th,

My daughter turned 5 today!!! We’ve always lived far away from family until recently, so we’d do Christmas and her birthday with my in-laws around Thanksgiving and with my parents when they’d visit the last week of January, and a birthday party with friends/neighbors the weekend before her birthday, and then just the 3 of us on her actual birthday...We try hard to spread it out, a lot easier being close to family now, but earlier it was tough to spread it out
