OSU Playoff Competition

After watching OSU against Michigan, I really thought they were untouchable. After 3 quarters so far there are a few evident things.
#1 OSU will have it much tougher than thought against LSU and Clemson who can easily match their athleticism.
#2. Ohio State is much better coached than Michigan as evidenced by their second half defensive adjustments.
#3. Wisconsin is much better coached than Michigan. They have a great freshman safety from Inkster, Michigan. Why in the hell is this kid not starting at Michigan?

I still think Michigan would beat OSU in a rematch. They were an absolute mess then. And they're going to get blown out, again, in a game where OSU was asleep the first half.

I don't know what safety you're talking about but Wisconsin's secondary is getting torn up.

It's honestly embarrassing that the Big 10 steps in with 3-4 crucial calls/no calls in this game to swing it in Ohio's favor.  They are good enough without needing the help.  Why even watch the game when it's going to be so blatant...

They lost their #1 ranking tonight to LSU. They will need to go through Clemson and then LSU.

Wisconsin did their job...OSU was getting in either way.  As long as it wasn't the #1 seed where they would play Oklahoma, it's the best case scenario.

Idk, Auburn and Georgia both had shaky moments this year.  Georgia lost at home to South Carolina, remember that ND team Michigan crushed, Georgia beat them by 6 at home on a rainy as well.

Auburn scrapped by the Ole Miss sinking ship at home and needed a truck load of breaks to beat Alabama at home.

I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin were all in tight games with both of these two.

If there’s any consolation to today, it’s that LSU looks like the best team in the country. Not sure how much their defense has been tested, but I don’t know how you stop Burrow and that full arsenal of his. It’s absolutely unreal.

I’m sure OSU will somehow find a way to stop him and win it all anyway. Because that’s just how the fucking world works. They are the anti-Murphy’s Law.

You need to put up 35 against OSU to have a chance.  Whoever they play will have a really good offense (LSU, OU, or Clemson), so they'll have a chance.  I don't think Clemson's D can keep OSU from scoring all night.  But OSU's D can stop Clemson on some drives.

LSU's defense will give OSU some fits.  Not sure OSU's D can stop LSU's offense, though.  I wasn't very impressed with them against Michigan.  Shea had time, picked them apart, and Chase Young was held to nothing.  LSU will torch those guys.

OU?  HAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!  Yeah, they have no defense...

Thank God that's the last time we ever have to see Jim Delaney on a B10 Football Championship podium. He soiled himself talking about OSU. Disgusting bunch there at the B10 office. Head of B10 officials for basketball is a former OSU asst coach (it's true, look it up).

Ohio State would be the 3rd best team.....IF they played in the SEC this year.  Not impressed with Fields when he has to hit tight windows and is forced to be a pocket passer.  If they play Clemson that’s NOT going to end well for the Buckeyes

Few thoughts - both schools also identify & develop talent much better than Michigan. Wisconsin's 3 stars play like 4 stars. Chase Young was a 4 star before he shot up the rankings with his camp performances right before signing day. OSU was recruiting him the entire time. Michigan has some nice successes - Devin Bush comes to mind but there's gotta be more of that.

And narrative that OSU can't develop NFL QBs will change soon. Dwayne Haskins, Joe Burrow and now Justin Fields. All it took was Michael Thomas having a few monster seasons to flip OSU's WR recruiting on its head. Similar to Tua & Alabama QB recruiting now.

#3  Pearson was a  3 star safety in high school and committed 18 months early to the Badgers, frankly Wisconsin was his best offer.   EMU, CMU, Akron, MiamiOH, Akron, Bowling Green, Arkansas, Syracuse, Iowa State

Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Minnesota didn't offer.  Most likely because he was committed to UW for so long.

There's actually a good article behind rivals paywall about how his recruiting shaped up, basically they didn't want to wait around and see what MSU and UM were going to do since both were going after higher ranked targets.

Good for Reggie, he found a good school and great situation for himself.

My hot take is that Clemson should be penalized out of the CFP for their willful and pathetically weak schedule. And that they "had" to play Virginia for the conference championship was exhibit A of how dreadful their schedule was-there was a talent gap that was truly eye-popping. And that they chose to play Charlotte and Wolford OOC should disqualify them. If they want to get in by playing a Group of Five schedule they should join the Sun Belt and go for it.

Reggie Pearson is the safety from River Rouge High School.  I’m not sure what the recruiting deal was with him.   He’s really strong, and lays the wood.  He’s the safety that knocked Dylan McCaffrey out.

OSU will be a different team in three weeks as Fields will be healthy and probably will not have a knee brace on with the rest of their team getting healthy.

OSU came out flat because they already beat Wisky and just thought they could go through the motions and Wisky was super fired up as the underdog.  In the 2nd half, when OSU decided to play football, they outscored Wisky 27-0.

OSU played PSU then Michigan then the CCG in the three successive weeks.  The BigTen did not do OSU any schedule favors this year.

How can anyone not think that OSU will not be motivated to play Oklahoma or Clemson on Dec 28th. It seems destiny could have OSU playing LSU in the CG Final with former OSU QB Joe Burrow going against his former teammates and a university he spent three years at and graduated from.  That is the storyline of storyline that probably ESPN and most of the media probably wants.  A North vs South ring to it.
