Puts him in at fullback in goalline situations.

Wilfork eats the bone of his leg of chicken.
August 19th, 2016 at 2:12 PM ^
Wolfork weighed like 340...and then decided he needed to lose weight because of injury. He's now like 325. Even Onwenu getting down to like 330 would be reasonable.

I would love to have an immovable force in the middle of the D-line to eat up 2 blockers. Stuff the run game with Onwenu, Glasgow and Mone and guys like Gary and Taco can destroy QBs. Will be insane.
That being said...how's he looking when playing o-line?

Thats a big dude, going to have our hands full (pun intended) this November.

Usually one points out whether the pun was intended or not after they have completed the sentence.

If he really is 375, then I would be a little bit concerned. Even if one is able to move well at that size, does not mean that the weight isn't putting extreme pressure on lower body muscles and ligaments.
August 19th, 2016 at 2:09 PM ^
That's my concern as well. As a teenager playing against people half your size and at a HS workload, that's probably fine. But ramp up wear and tear with competition level and workload, and it's bond to take a toll sooner or later. I always worry about guys like that later in their lives too.

No dinosaurs are big boned because dinosaurs are extinct, Onwenu ate them all.

I believe it. In the video he posted of his first tackle, you can see a 300lb Dawson get rocked back in the collision with Onwenu and then the poor RB absolutely get flung backwards like a rag doll.

They have Onwenu on the D-line?

They have him doing both OL and DL according to the coaches and players. The video he posted had him playing at the nose and making a solo tackle after annihilating Dawson.
Here's the thread.

Yikes. I looked up another successful massive human being I could think of in Dontari Poe and he's "only" 346
August 19th, 2016 at 2:19 PM ^
He's being measured at 375 Canadian pounds. That's only like 325 US pounds. Or 340 euro pounds. Or 150 British pound pounds.
August 19th, 2016 at 2:34 PM ^
I get what you are going for but based on the British Pounds part of this joke it looks like you have not been informed about Brexit yet. So, I hate to be the one to tell you but, the Pound is not what it used to be.

The correct Britishism is that he's almost 27 stone.

yeah im sure the staff, tolbert and crew already identified an ideal target weight for onwenu and a plan to eventually get there. they typically have a good grasp on the differences bw athletes (even the subtle ones) and try to account for everything when designing routines.
hes a very promising prospect and no doubt a big boy. we always used to be amazed by the bigger dudes during camp and some of the 10-15 lbs fluctuations in water weight bw practice weigh ins (though its similar to proportional losses of like 3-4 lbs or whatever by us 200 lb guys, theres just something about those bigger #s on the chart)

I'm becoming more optimistic about the depth on the OLine. With good reports coming out on Onwenu, Bredeson, Dawson and Bushell-Beatty maybe an injury here or there won't mean catastrophe. To a lesser extent I've also read a few positives about Runyan and Ulizio but let's hope the starters play well and remain healthy and we don't see these guys until next fall.
August 19th, 2016 at 4:21 PM ^
We should not have that issue adding Gary, Onwenu, and getting Mone back.
