I gotta be honest, I could only watch about 30 seconds of it. It looks like he is playing against Jr. high school kids. That is some of the worst competition I have seen on a highlight film. I'm not knocking him at all, I know he has fully acquitted himself in summer camps against the top of the top so I'm not concerned at all about his skills. But my little sister when she was 13 could've run wide open against those DBs. He didn't even have to run routes, he just ran downfield and looked up.

It always cracks me up when people call out the competition these guys play against. When true D1 athletes are on the field. Everyone else looks awful by comparison. All I could see was DPJ in that video. Now is Detroit high school football comparable to Iowa City football? Because in each of their highlight tapes, I saw two guy who were just far and away the best players on the field.

That's absolutely not true. It's one thing to watch a guy run a route against a cover guy with good hips and footwork and actually have to rely on making sharp breaks to get open vs. just running downfield. DPJ played against some pretty good DBs and made catches in coverage--that's a little different than the, I think it was second catch, contested one that Martin made over two kids who were nowhere near having a clue where the ball was. There's a huge difference between seeing a receive go for that ball and be well contested vs. just reaching around two lost kids who don't know what they're doing and the WR catches it because he's the only one who even knows he's playing football that day.

He's obviously a very good talent but everyone must think he's a route technician because he's white and/or he crushed it at camps where he actual ran routes. He's 6-1 and the DBs look all of 5-2 110lbs. This is a textbook case of a scout wanting to see him in person. The tape shows very little outside of basic attributes (which is a lot in and of itself).
