More good news: CBs rolling in today for the good guys

Submitted by BleedThatBlue on November 27th, 2022 at 12:20 PM

Michigan is getting a couple more crystal balls (CBs) today. EJ Holland from ON3 just put in one for 4 star Jyaire Hill from Illinois. This is a big get in my opinion. Corner and top 150 player. EJ, Sam and Allen have all put in CBs for D’Juan Waller Jr. a safety from Youngstown, Ohio. Not tech savvy so not sure how to embed. https://www.on3.com/db/expert-predictions/football/2023/

A rare Illinois vs Michigan recruiting battle for Hill. This is why I was rooting for Illinois to lose every week when people were worrying about our strength of schedule and pulling for Illinois. We have to close on this kid

D’Juan Waller, Jason Hewlett, Jyaire Hill, Jamel Howard and Rod Pierce all should be part of the class soon. Should be really interesting to see how many 24’s that were in Columbus yesterday start trending to the good guys as well.

What position do you think Jason Hewlett is being looked at? I would say possible as an edge or linebacker? Jamel would be a good pick-up. Not highly ranked, but he is the kind of guy who in three years becomes a 2 year starter that no one knew about. I think Fickell will be able to keep Rod Pierce committed unfortunately.

Hill I think would be the biggest impact recruit for this class if we get. Hoping we land Harbor and a few other 4 stars along the way. We develop 3 stars really well, so I don't mind us finishing out the class with them but we should be in the running for some top players with 2 years of dominance in a row.

Harbor is going to be very tough given the finish to the season that the Gamecocks just had. That's a program with a ton of momentum and, in my opinion, Columbia is a very nice city.

I like the defensive recruiting a lot for this 2023 class:

I think if we can keep achempeong (sp?), edge and DT will be set with him, Etta, Pierce, Bahr, and Howard.

I think Hewlett and Ishmail are perfect fits at LB and Bridgman reminds me of Josh Ross.

The backend of Hill, Calhoun also has the potential to be great.

My only concern areas would be OT/OL (2nd year in a row with not hitting top targets) and RB.

It would be yet another knife in OSU's side if a bunch of recruits who attended yesterday's game at their place wound up going to UM because of that win.

I don't think we'll see a Harbaugh-to-Indy turmoil this year; Saturday has Indy playing a bit better and I get a sense that the Colts's owner isn't going to like a tough-willed Harbaugh as a coach.  So that will hopefully mean fewer distractions building on these two wins.

Looks like 2024 is going to get off to a good start too. Brady Prieskorn sounds like he could continue Michigan's good 2024 class. Brian Robinson is a top 200 edge that could also commit over the next few months. Jordan Marshall is a running back out of Ohio that Michigan could make a play for. Probably going to be a battle between them and Wisconsin now that Luke is headed to Wisconsin and Jordan was in his backyard. Brandon Davis-Swain is a guy currently committed to Notre Dame, that Michigan will work all the next year on flipping. He'd be a solid pickup on the defensive line. Jacob Oden is a safety in Michigan neck of the woods, currently crystal balled to Michigan State. Jacob had a solid reaction to Michigan beating OSU yesterday. Gabriel Winowich is currently listed as an athlete, out of Michigan, who wants to play running back in college. He's listed at 6'1" - 215lbs currently. Depending on how he grows, he could end up being a linebacker or edge guy at the next level. Someone to keep an eye on. Currently it seems like Purdue is a favorite for him, but let's see what he thinks after this Big Ten championship game. Dylan Messman, currently a top 350 player, is a tight end out of Saline. Currently crystal balled to MSU, but he grew up a huge Michigan fan. Notre Dame could be a player here with CJ Carr, and Michigan could definitely make some noise if they offer. Brady Prieskorn and Dylan Messman would be a solid 1-2 at tight end for Michigan for 2024. Jordan Thomas would be a big pickup in the middle of the defense. He's from an area that Michigan has recruited well. And last but not least, Gabriel Williams is a LB/EDGE that Michigan will keep an eye on. No offer yet, but he's currently ranked in the top 350 for 2024s. He will need to add some size over the next year+ but he has time to do it.
