Michigan Rumors Summary Video

Submitted by MichiganSports3 on

So with all of the information that is being thrown around various social media platforms, I thought I'd share this video that addresses the current coaching carousel at UM. It matches up pretty well with the information that is being discussed on the premium UM forums (247/Scout and Rivals). Hope this helps everyone organize this mess.

EDIT, Link Taken Down*** I apologize. I did not know that we banned ChatSports videos. Just recently became active again on MGoBlog. I just saw that the video information (regarding Enos, Frey, Partridge, etc) matched up with the other forums. Sorry everyone, please don't kill me.

I always do the Michigan roster for NCAA 14 and you always seem so plugged in to what's going on behind the scenes. Any chance you would help with me a depth chart this year? Seth has helped me out in the past but the more info I have the better. If your interested here is my email [email protected]. Thanks for always keeping us plugged in man it means a lot!

Damn I wish Xbox would make that game backwards compatible. I know it won’t happen due to the O’Bannon lawsuit (still pissed he had to ruin that game) but I really don’t want to have to buy a 360 just to play that single game.

My opinion means jack but the only way I'd be ok with Drevno staying is with a demotion to OL coach.  And that still leaves a relative dead spot for recruiting which is suboptimal.

The passing game from all aspects was a disaster - production, in-season progress, player development - so it'd be a huge disappointment if we kept Pep.

What would we all do without umbig11? I’m sure it’s been said a million times before, but props to u sir. I don’t know who u are or what your connection to the program is, but u do a perfect job of giving us great tid bits without overstepping the line of saying too much. I do have a question, once all this offensive staff turnover is complete, will we see a same type of coaching set up? Where we have multiple o-line coaches and co-offensive coordinators? Not really a big fan of that type of setup, though it seemed to work when Jedd was here for whatever reason.

think back to how he found Don Brown

If he follows that approach, he won't come up with Roman.

I hope he does follow the Don Brown approach and bring in a Moorhead type.

Perhaps not Moorhead's scheme per se, but a top level college OC, with a proven track record of success with college players.

The reference to baggage makes me wonder if Art Briles might be under consideration. He had a great reputation in high school and college football until the recent mess at Baylor. I'm not knowledgeable enough about that situation to know the extent of his involvement.

Good people occasionally make mistakes - some more egregious than others - yet most people who acknowledge those deserve a second chance. I still regret how Michigan handled the Gary Moeller situation. Briles might possibly be deserving of another shot. I don't know. But, he's a great offensive coach with strong recruiting ties in Texas.

... "how he found Don Brown"  - Well, I guess it might be instructive to look at schools that have had leading offenses the past couple of years.

umbig11: Thank you for your posts.

Oklahoma has the #1 offense via s&p+. Bill bedenbaugh coached the #1 O line there and is co-OC. originally from Chicago area, broyles award finalist, wants to be an OC someday. At OU since 2013 - time to move up? Also worked at Texas tech when they had the #1 offense. Rivals top 25 recruiter. Could this be the don Brown method find?

Is there a good reference somewhere of what sites/links are banned?

I thought I saw once not to link/mention the Freep. But there was an analysis article on there by Nick where he walked through a number of plays from the Outback Bowl, and I actually learned a lot from it.

Obviously, with 3 OL out, and blocking schemes that don't manage space well at all but simply pile up bodies, things were not going to go well. And play-calling was abysmal on several locations--including the million inside zone rushes that go for 1 yard and a cloud of dust.

But I didn't realize how badly we had been hurt by not having a capable WR coach this year. Reading the descriptions, route by route, on a handful of plays from the Outback Bowl really underlined that to me.

I think the article would be helpful to others, but since it's Freep I didn't think I could post a link...

So where do we learn what's banned?

Stop ripping people who used that. If you get on google and YouTube and search theses rumors those links will come up. No reason to freak out on people cuz they used them as a source. In the video they are literally listing every rumor everyone's already heard and we have discussed on this site. I understand no one likes chat sports but no reason to ride someone cuz they posted about it.

I think it's absolutely stupid that the mgoblog community has negged multiple posts solely because ChatSports was the source. ChatSports is pretty upfront that a lot of what they present are rumors and most of what they present as "rumors" are just facts. As an example, they mentioned Shea Patterson and his two teammates as rumor when they were already on campus. And pretty much every rumor in this video is one that's been discussed in other areas of the board. This would actually be the best conglomeration of all the rumors for someone who has 10 minutes. On the case of Greg Frey, ChatSports is ABSOLUTELY corrrect and they were the FIRST to report it. Give credit where credit is due. Our community on mgoblog needs to have a thicker skin on this. Is our view really that we're against an entire website because of the way they present their material? The groupthink here is ridiculous.

Got their links banned from the blog. However, it was the mods decision to not allow any links to chat sports. I didn't think the video was bad, but until the mods lift the ban on linked content to chat sports it's not really up to the rest of us.

Even when it ends up being true or a bonified rumor and not something they totally made up for 100% click bait, they are always pulling it from somewhere else on the internet and just regurgitating it (usually without citing their source so you have no idea if its good info or not). I think it's a combination of that and what CarrlsMyHomeboy said above. Speculation is turned into rumor and run off as very nearly fact, so regurgitating Chatsports would severely weaken reporting quality here.

At what point do you forgive a publication for past transgressions? ChatSports was adamant on Frey leaving and planted a flag on that rumor. Many on this board were quick to dismiss that rumor which has pretty much now been confirmed. A list of other things that they were correct on from their most recent videos: 1. The rumor that a Al Washington may have some interest in coming to Michigan is in line with the clues that UMbig11 has been dropping hours after chatsports releases a video. 2. They conservative "two harbaughs" on Greg Rolan to OC was also confirmed by umbig11 on this very post. 3. They were also quick in reporting our interest in both Shea and Dan Enos. 4. Calling Mattison retirement rumors out as false. 5. Michigan offense incorporating more pistol next year. It's pretty obvious that the Michigan chatsports videos are done with SOME insider information. Whatever their issues in the past, both Michigan videos so far have been shown as accurate. If/When chat sports stays around for five years do you continue with this ban arbitrarily forever?

BS in the past. Making up fake interviews with former players, claiming outlandish stuff was happening with the team, etc. Throwing crazy speculations out hoping something would stick. all for attention and clicks. Now they just post any rumor they see on various college football boards/twitter ASAP, some of which comes from insiders and ends up being true. The stuff they post DOES NOT originate from there. Thats why they are banned and SHOULD BE BANNED! They contribute nothing but TOTAL BULLSHIT and recycled rumors. If you can't see that, you are part of the problem with a lot of the internet these days, unable to see the difference between valid, reputable sources and attention seeking clickwhore psuedo-journalists.

rumors originated on FSU boards, not chatsports.

The Washington rumors originated on Michigan forums.

What they do is patrol college football forums and report any rumor they come across that has any chance of sticking as soon as they can, to look like they were at the forefront of "reporting" it, and they also take educated guesses about things that any fan may assume is going to happen but without any real source to back it up but claim they do have one. Don't be fooled.

were all going to transfer a few years ago. It was made up out of thin air to rile people up. Chat Sports isn't always wrong because they repeat things from other sites. As far as being the first to report anything, they aren't reporters and they have never had sources of their own.

MichAero

January 4th, 2018 at 1:44 PM ^

For multiple reasons. Chatsports was NOT the FIRST to report it, as sites like Noles247 had posted this news prior. If you want to visit a place that rips off info from other places, presents it as their own (and yes, makes things up), you are fine to visit it. Just don't take it here.

No, "we" are against the website because of their unethical "journalism" in the name of clicks.

If there is news out there, it will be posted here soon from a verified source.

What are these rumors? Have they been discussed here? Probably Frey leaving, check. Drenvo and Hamilton will probably be jettison off as well. An NFL friend of Harbauh's may become our OC. An old MSU WR coach may come here to coach WR. Harbaugh's son may be demoted to TE coach and we may get a RB coach. Harbaugh is at the top of the NFL coaching wish list. Any others that differ from what was posted on mgoblog?
