More snarky than usual. Not that we don't deserve it. But of the entire poop cooler universe, Michigan Monday is the one place I occasionally find better than this.

Gerdeman is usually a slight notch above the Snowflake threads post game.

Sadly, this column reads like a particularly lazy collection of those Snowflake posts.

Snarky analysis devoid of his usual "analysis".

Obviously Gerdeman sees that our offense is starting to hit its stride, and the fear has set in, bringing out his inner snark as a defense mechanism.

So why didn’t the Wolverines keep attacking deep and why do we always ask this same question every week? I still don’t know. Patterson tried to pull the trigger on another deep ball, but couldn’t or wouldn’t.

Nobody knows the trouble I see.

I don't know what else he could say constructively.  This offense has literally looked the same since the Army game.  Until they show something different against a team with a pulse, it'll be the same snarky stuff.  But he is right that if we sweep our next three games, we're likely back in the top 10.  Back-to-back wins over top 10 teams would be impressive.

Other than Gerdeman's stupid snark about Michigan's running backs, and his under appreciation of the defensive masterpiece Michigan played, I agree with a lot of his comments.  Dax Hill had a very nice game.  It's crazy we are not utilizing and getting more production out of our talented receivers right now.

Some comments that hit me like a rock....

- "Following the game, Harbaugh said that he felt Michigan’s offense is hitting its stride."

- "Charbonnet is the only Wolverine with a carry of at least 20 yards (he has just one) and it has been 151 rushes for Michigan since that happened."

- "Three different Buckeyes had rushes of at least 35 yards against Michigan State this past weekend. "

- "And I’m not sure who has less confidence in Shea Patterson right now — Josh Gattis, Jim Harbaugh, or Patterson himself."

That's an underrated comment. Gattis is catching a lot of shit on here, but when I watch the games I'm seeing a lot of well schemed plays getting people open. What I'm not seeing is a QB who can take advantage of that. I'm not sure what Gattis or Harbaugh can really do about it, when QB1 looks terrible and QB2 runs head first into contact.

QB play under Harbaugh hasn't been nearly as good as I would have thought. I don't know if it's bad luck, bad coaching, or just bad players, but it's going to tank Michigan unless they can figure out how not to be stuck with John Okorn level play every other year or so.

Not his best work but I think we need to remember that when he looks at Michigan football games and compares what he sees there to OSU it has to be like when modern anthropoligists encounter primitive civilizations in the wild.

I agree the column is snarkier than usual and that this is usually a good column.

However, I feel as if this was his reaction (he's not the only one) to Harbaugh's comments.

What is interesting to me about this era is no one gets anything anymore.  The many writers in the local Detroit papers, nationally, and this OSU guy are falling into Harbaugh's trap.  Harbaugh seriously doesn't really think Michigan has hit its stride.  However, what he has done is take all the pressure off his players and Gattis.  Everything is directed at him.

The master at this was Sparky Anderson.  His players loved him because he would do all his silly diversionary tactics and take all the pressure off them.  The press loved him because he made their job easier.  He was very quotable and they thought they had the second coming of Casey Stengel on their hands.  But most press people back then were sharp enough to realize they were being had but didn't care.

Jimbo doesn't have Sparky's charm or ability to ramble on about nothing for hours but he is utilizing the same Sparky playbook.  Say something that will focus all the attention on you and take the pressure off your team and coaches.

I can't imagine the media is that stupid that they don't see through this.  However, we are in the age of the media trying to get as many clicks as they can and nothing will get more clicks from both Harbaugh lovers and his legions of haters than pointing out the ridiculousness of his statements.

Good job, Harbaugh!  Keep it up.  And, while you're at it, let's get this offense figured out!

Honestly though I am more partial to earlier Mel Brooks movies like Young Frankenstein or History Of The World Part 1. "Ah the Count Demoney." " That's DeMonet." Harvey Korman was a national treasure.

Well, his opening was humorous.  The snark (scorn, really) was levied equally on both teams.  In addition to his potshot at Shea, Gerd was especially critical of the RBs and OL, which I guess no one here would disagree with.

Maybe I don't remember reading comments last year, but our performances thus far seems to have attracted the more Neanderthal elements of their fan base, the ones who always have to go to the effort to hold down the shift key so they can type "scUM" as if that's somehow clever.  Or maybe it's a keyboard shortcut.

In a nutshell, Gerd's assessment is "well !@#$!! if the defense can improve this much after Wisconsin maybe something is possible with the rest of the team."
