Makes me think of McDowell. I didn't support his mother trying to force his hand to come here instead of State, but also, I get it. And in retrospect, mama was very right. If my kid (not that I'll ever have them ha) were to turn down scholarships from Michigan, Stanford, USC, Notre Dame, etc. for a comparatively middling academic school that isn't even an elite program, I'd be trying hard to change their mind too.

We may be picking up a commitment from his good friend and teammate shortly per the most recent recruiting update on the front page. Would love to see this gentleman join the class as well

Question to Mgoblog & all reading these comments:

Why don't we do Kickstarter or other such? Talk on this blog about the fabled money cannon showed that if there's an organizing body with a definable end goal, Michigan supporters will outspend anyone.

Our boosters just aren't shady enough to outbid A&M etc of their own volition - but if it was made a contest, with a little graph showing progress towards a set goal, I think the money cannon would roar to life!

Mgoblog publishers, what say you?!

I have seen this question posed a few times.  I think the MGoTeam (or maybe just Brian) have made a decision not to get involved.

Doesn't mean that we couldn't as a board.  I would love to participate but don't have the time to be a leader.  Perhaps our NIL contractee could doing a weekly question and answer session?  They could do it as part of MGoPodcast during the season and perhaps in the spring.

Just spitballing ideas.

Serious question - what position / role is Michigan recruiting him for? Seems like we would’ve made his recruitment a big deal with some positional certainty if we thought we had any realistic chance of landing him.

I recognized the positive history this poster has, didn’t denigrate the individual, just the comment, and positively encouraged him/her to meet the standards they have had in the past. I consider those positive ways to retort on an online forum, even if it doesn’t meet the polarized standard so often seen here.

The comment was targeted to GenX’ers.
In the broader context, understanding the history and current state of race relations in the U.S., making fun of or making derogatory comments about someone’s name when they are part of a minority population is often done so in a racist manner.
Please note, I’n not calling the poster a racist. It’s not possible to recognize how every comment could be interpreted. In this case, there is enough history around this practice, I felt it worthwhile to make a call to try to be aware and be better.

I really don’t like racism. I’m not sure my racism meter moved by his post. I will give you the benefit as you were very reasoned in your response. I think your heart is in the right place. That said, making fun of generation x y z, etc. is poking fun, imo. I love everyone, but love to make fun of those younger and older than me. Feel free to scorn me for anything you like. If it’s funny I will laugh. If not, eh, next message post.
