Izzo's New Excuse

Submitted by bballislife22 on

Can't blame the injuries anymore, so he turns to the refs. We're only 30 games in to the new rules now. You'd think his team was playing with a completely different, more harsh rules than every other team is by listening to his interview. Time to adjust, Tommy.

(Again, can't embed, if anyone else could for the board that'd be great.)

Did Beilein once cry about the bullshit fouls called on Burke during the NCG as reason for not winning? We as fans brought it up but he never did. I am so glad that our coach does not behave like this.

He also said Harris twisted his ankle a bit, which is pretty sad too.

This team was overrated when it started the year; their "big win" over #1 Kentucky looks way less impressive right now considering UK is a middling team at best.  They could never score consistently if Harris or Appling had rough stretches, and when you have to deal with injuries and have virtually no useful bench it will bite you in the butt a bit.  Plus, people keep thinking about MSU's defense like its 2000; they haven't been amazing on defense for a couple of years now, and while they have stretches of solid play they don't really shut down competent teams anymore.

I don't have the technical expertise to edit and put together videos from different games.  But, if someone here does, it would be immensely entertaining.  It would also reveal a lot about Izzo's (lack of) character.

Izzo reminds me of Joliet Jake giving excuses in the Blues Brothers.

of a coach blaming refs and throwing his starters and bench (seriously how much does thus guy hate this last round of kids he recruited?) under the bus. Who is the absolute embarrassment of a reporter who asked "would a 6 foul rule have fixed the problem tonight?". And Izzo actually starts to go with it for a little bit. Yeah they're going to change that rule so you guys can win this game that already happened

He can say whatever the heck he wants. He has an extremely talented team that has completely underperformed, has no chemistry, and has shown very little toughness as of late. That falls squarely on him. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them bounced from the big dance before the second weekend.

Can wet get Bob Odenkirk to play Izzo in the lifetime original movie titled Greener On the Other Side, which chronicles the downfall of MSU basketball and Izzo's struggle to relate to NBA Players at his next gig???

Big Ten refs are the most forgetful whe it comes to the new rules.  When Sparty plays in the NCAA Tournament and the games are called as close as they are supposed to, Sparty will be an "upset" victim.

is acting like he is bigger than his team and the product of Spartan Basketball. In the end , people don't care about excuses; they care about outcomes. You are measured by your record.

He thoroughly appears like he is physically and emotionally spent. He has gained some weight and his color has not looked good all season to me. I hope after this season ends he takes a long look at himself in a number of dimensions and addresses some issues that are very clear at this point.

Go do yourselves a favor and read some sections at the ole' RCMB. What I learned in five (5) minutes.

- The Big Ten hates Michigan State.

- The officiating is to blame for every loss this season. All their wins were well officiated.

- If officiating isn't to blame, then injuries are to blame and caused their ultimate demise.

- Michigan only won the conference because this is the weakest Big Ten in memory.

- Aaron Craft tackled Gary Harris four times and got away with it.

Of course, not a single person mentioned the one thing everyone else (outside of Dick Vitale) thinks: Michigan State just isn't very good at the game of basketball this season.

Tom is indeed unhinged and quits after this year to his hobby farm north of Iron Mountain.   The MSU AD glances at Lincoln, NE and thinks "that Miles guy did a bang-up job this year".  They hire Miles, and now we're faced with the connundrum of having to hate the one opposing B1G coach that we kinda like and respect.
