If you could take one non-QB off any CFB team in the country and add to Michigan this year...who would it be?

Again in my effort to plant one tree a day during the dog days of OT season... Here's another hypothetical.

One I like much better than the if you could take a player from OSU/MSU someone asks every year. Fuck OSU/MSU.

If you could take one non-QB off any CFB team in the country and add to Michigan this year...who would it be? I say no QB so it's not a million Watson from Clemson posts.

Chad Wheeler would be my first choice; Filling that LT void would be huge. Leonard Fornette would be amazing, but I also wouldn't mind Jonathan Allen, which would make our Defenive front all-time great. It would also be fun to see Reuben Foster behind this D-Line of death; we litterally might hold opponents to 1 YPC.

An offensive lineman. Probably the most important non-qb position group on any team, and our biggest question mark.  Maybe one of our guys finally has the lightbulb go on this year, but the biggest impact non-qb upgrade we could get would be in the trenches.

A great LT instantly makes this offense better and deeper.  A great LB probably is enough to give us one of the best defenses in Michigan history.  Fournette would be great and all, but I'm taking either one of those kind of players first.

I like the McMillan pick a few posts back.  Rounds out our defense and makes our most difficult game a little more manageable.

The best athlete in the country not named Jabrill Peppers: Christian McCaffrey. You add a 3-down back, a slot receiver, and a return man. As a pure runner he is top 3 with Cook and Fournette (I actually think Dalvin Cook is better than Fournette), but as a football player there is no one better in the country. Would make a decent OL look great and take a little more pressure off a new QB.

Between those 2, Cook and Fournette...it'll be one of the better groups we've had in a looooong time.

There is some REALLY good talent in CFB this year. Much better than last year, IMO. I can't wait to watch some of these guys on teams I couldn't care less about just to see them dominate.

Watching McCaffrey at the end of the year and in the bowl game was unreal. Watching Watson go up against top D's in the country and perform was awesome. And what Fournette did during that stretch last year was Bo Jackson/Hershal Walker-esqe.

Cook should be back and healthy and you're going to get some other stars. Ridley at Bama should have a breakout year. Jake Butt could from the TE spot. Maybe Chesson or Peppers on offense if you're thinking Michigan.

You got Josh Rosen who showed flashed at UCLA, the kid at Texas Tech and the kid at Baylor should put up numbers. Miami's QB was a freshman as well. ND, Tennessee and Texas return QBs who can make plays.

Baker fucking Mayfield was AWESOME last year.

There is some BIG TIME talent in CFB this year. It's very exciting.

Raekwon McMillan, LB from Ohio St.  LB corps are a big question mark and he would make us the hands down best defense in college football.  I know I know he is from the enemy, but the guy can flat out play.

I do kind of agree here.  Taking the best LB (mLB) quite possibly mades this Michigan defense one of the best in college football history.  This defense is already killer, and taking away the weakness on the entire team and adding in the best player at the position in college football makes this defense one for the ages.

My 2nd pick would be a LT i believe.  If mLB is not our weakest position, LT is.

Dalvin Cook and LF are tough to pass up, but replacing a glaring weakness with an NFL stud at either above 2 positions simply helps the team more IMO.

Looking at the list you guys have put together it seems we are in agreement that there are three spots we would upgrade, they are left tackle, running back, and linebacker.

My choices (in order):

1. LT: Cam Robinson, best LT in the country.

2. RB: Dalvin Cook, off field stuff aside he is a great runner and gives us a home run threat to pair with all of our thunder options.

3. LB: Raekwon McMillian, so gifted and would be a huge boost to the LB corps.

Bonus: I would love to see Myles Garrett though. Add a truly dominant edge rusher to this defense would take it from great to an all-timer.

Derwin James, he's about as close to adding a second Peppers on defense as possible. Alternatively, having a true thumping MLB like Reuben Foster or Raekwon McMillian would be awfully nice.

Either Raekwon McMillian (pairing him with Peppers would make for a scary LB corps) or Fournette. With the receiving threats we have, adding a game changer like Fournette would make our offense among the most balanced, and close to unstoppable.

Only because Michigan's a little thin at LB and you'd be taking him off of OSU.  There are better options for sure, but the fact you're taking him off a conference rival's team and adding him to yours makes it a little sweeter.
