Garza did not give any credit to Michigan either
February 26th, 2021 at 12:08 PM ^
Garza sucked in that game. Poor loser. They lost by 22 points.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
Not that he sucked, but Dickinson shut him down.... got shut down by a freshman, eh Garza ?
February 26th, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
While HD did very well against Garza, Davis also had a number of very good defensive pressures on Garza too, forcing tougher shots than Garza expected, some of which rolled out or were just misses. Yes, Garza also torched Davis a bit too, but not nearly as much as one would have expected going in.
Davis is luxury off the bench, his footwork continues to impress on O. Glad Howard invited him back.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
"Torched" Davis? That's really pushing it.
February 26th, 2021 at 2:44 PM ^
I’m sick of people saying Davis is a bad defensive player. He’s not on HD’s level but he’s solid
February 26th, 2021 at 1:46 PM ^
Not only did Garza suck he had to resort to bear hugs and throwing elbows all game long.
Fuck Garza. It's like a school bully who picks on everyone and then when someone punches him in the mouth, he complains about being hit.
February 26th, 2021 at 4:14 PM ^
*Sore loser
February 26th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
This is another fine graduate of the tiny tom izziot school of being a sore ass loser! His team got bitch-slapped, have some grace and sportsmanship and commend the winning team.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:11 PM ^
Dickinson really got the better of Garza down low. Felt like he got several blocks and airballs out of Garza who is used to being able to bully his way under the hoop. Not surprised the All-American was salty that he got punk'd by a freshman like that.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Garza's elbow throwing was ridiculous. I know it's the B1G and the big men get away with throwing their body weight around, but the elbow throwing/hooking from Garza this game was way out of hand.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:21 PM ^
He flat out head butted Austin Davis' sternum on one of his fancy bullrush moves to the basket. Nothing to see here.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:36 PM ^
the hooks were even worse than usual. there was one play were you literally couldn't see the number one the back of dickinson's jersey because garza's forearm was in the way. it was obvious in real-time, THEN, on the replay, vitale is drooling all over garza's inside moves. puh-leeez, are you even LOOKING at your monitor?
February 26th, 2021 at 12:50 PM ^
I'm not super up on the rules, but back in my basketball days I remember that if you keep your hand on the ball, you can use that respective elbow to turn and pivot against the defender (as long as you don't hit the defender in the head blatantly). It's when you take your hand of the ball and use your elbow/arm/hand to "hook" the player is when you get into trouble.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:00 PM ^
Garza blows.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:27 PM ^
He'll suck in the NBA.
February 26th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Even the BHGP writers have several times noted that he's not an NBA player, just a very, very good college player. They predict Europe for him.
February 26th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
I'm not even sure he'll sniff the NBA. He seems like the quintessential awesome college player with no NBA prospects. He's gonna be in overseas somewhere
February 26th, 2021 at 1:59 PM ^
This is precisely why Garza's game won't translate to the NBA at all in it's current state. When matched up with a similarly in skill and sized big man, he does not score or shoot well. He looked frustrated and dejected when they showed him at the end of the bench in the waning minutes of the 4th.
February 26th, 2021 at 2:55 PM ^
Dickinson really got the better of Garza down low
Crazy thing about last night is so did the subs. When Dickinson had to sit, there really wasn't any drop off on defense.
February 26th, 2021 at 4:38 PM ^
I thought Davis did a really nice job, but I was definitely terrified whenever Johns was trying to play the 5
February 26th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
HD is not typical freshmen. He turned 20 in Nov. Just for context.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:28 PM ^
I specifically watched for Garza and HD to meet after the game, but nope. Garza left the court before Michigan could even congratulate themselves. And then that Fran presser...
I get being upset about getting torched, but the grow the fuck up and show some sportsmanship.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:35 PM ^
You're absolutely right but the salt is so, so sweet.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:43 PM ^
My mom texted me immediately after the game to point this out lol
February 26th, 2021 at 2:13 PM ^
Your mom texted me too ...
JK!! Sorry not sorry you lobbed that up there.
February 26th, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
I know...
His mom was with me when she texted you.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
To be fair to Garza, I think there are no post-game handshakes between players given covid
February 26th, 2021 at 1:20 PM ^
I've seen opposing coaches and players shaking/hugging after games, and the opposing coaches meet. So I'm not sure that's entirely true. Although, given the arcane nature of NCAA rules, I could certainly believe it...
February 26th, 2021 at 8:53 PM ^
Nah...
while the players haven't lined up on the sideline like in seasons past, there are some congrats and well wishes on the court.
Garza pulled a LeBron last night and made a beeline for the locker room.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:38 PM ^
I would say last night demonstrated why Garza, though a wonderful college player, is not considered to be a top or even middling, NBA prospect.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:42 PM ^
With McCaffrey it wasn't an issue of not giving Michigan credit, he was just being an obnoxious dick. He reminded me of Bobby Knight after a loss.
February 26th, 2021 at 2:30 PM ^
He said there were "a couple of possessions where they affected my shot," but that otherwise, he was just off. Minimal credit to the defense.
To be fair, he just suffered a crushing loss and some of the questions - like the one about losing to every top10 team they've played - were a bit rough.
That said, credit your opponent, man! You were off because they forced you to be off.
February 26th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
Did Garza even say GG to Hunter after the game ? Garza is a great college player, but he STRUGGLES vs bigger teams (12-40 vs Mich and N Carolina from the field) vs ,he wont be a great NBA player
February 26th, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
Fran McCaffery is one of those guys that you assume right away is a jerk - so much that you then wonder if you're being unfair to him. Nope, he is one.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:43 PM ^
I'm not one to advocate violence, so nobody act on this, but...
Fran has a very punchable face.

I mean this with all due respect, Fuck Iowa.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:16 PM ^
No due respect is needed, just Fuck Iowa!!!
February 26th, 2021 at 1:08 PM ^
I used to live there for a few years. I can totally support this sentiment.
(Ohio is worse though)
February 26th, 2021 at 7:39 PM ^
You lived in Iowa for a few years? I’m sorry.
February 26th, 2021 at 8:31 PM ^
Iowa ShmIowa You should try living in Ohio for most of your life
February 26th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
I just drove up to NE OH this past weekend from Knoxville and let me tell everyone...from Cincy all the way to Akron and back was one of the most miserable experiences in my life, especially through Columbus.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:09 PM ^
Seems pretty on-brand for Fran who is normally seen yelling about something. A guy who's normally that pissed off is gonna be real unhappy when he just got his ass kicked for 40 minutes. Probably irate the refs dared call Garza for one of his many uncalled fouls
February 26th, 2021 at 12:09 PM ^
The dudes name is Fran. He's been putting on a tough guy facade his entire life because of that.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
Lighten up Francis?
February 26th, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Good thing he's not named Sue, then. I can only imagine the conflicts he'd author...
February 26th, 2021 at 1:22 PM ^
He should have switched to Alex.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
It wouldn't be a day that ends in 'Y' if Fran wasn't mad about something while his team slowly fell apart as the year progressed.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
All I heard in the post game press conference by Michigan was how good a team Iowa is. Juwan and his players that spoke had much respect for that program.
Too bad Iowa didn't return the respect. I hope that Michigan takes note of that and if they face Iowa again, can play with even more focus and beat them again.
In addition, Michigan had more fouls called on them than Iowa did so only sour grapes for that tram that got thrashed and trashed during the second of half of the game.
