UM has had an interesting offseason in terms of staff realignment.
February 7th, 2020 at 12:41 PM ^
Whole program feels stagnant, if not regressing ever so slightly.
February 7th, 2020 at 12:41 PM ^
Emphasis on “interesting.”
February 7th, 2020 at 2:02 PM ^
Good we need to shake things up...many people on this board think there are no better people than the ones who've left and this is WRONG! New DNA is what Michigan needs to get us over the hump in some areas. JH does have a pretty good record of finding and hiring talent. I'm very excited about the new faces coming in and most of you will be as well once you see their competencies on display.
February 7th, 2020 at 2:04 PM ^
I would have to agree. If people think our recruiting of late has somewhat fallen off then wouldn't you want a shakeup in recruiting personnel?
February 8th, 2020 at 2:06 PM ^
I would agree with you sentiment if the people who were leaving weren't all widely regarded as the best/only people recruiting at Michigan.
February 7th, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
Nothing to see here, just another person who can't wait to not work with Jim Harbaugh
February 7th, 2020 at 12:29 PM ^
Opens the door for the hiring of more parents, I mean coaches!
February 7th, 2020 at 12:32 PM ^
Are you suggesting that he had no value as a coach?
February 7th, 2020 at 12:49 PM ^
Yeah, we didn't need a former NFL Safety possibly teaching our Safeties how to play. Not like our Safeties haven't been underwhelming or anything.
Plus, Bush had a pretty good HS team and appeared to be a recruiting asset if given the chance.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
It's a good thing Michigan didn't hire an upper echelon defensive coordinator as the safeties position coach to coach up those safeties.
February 7th, 2020 at 2:10 PM ^
I never will understand people's infatuation or displeasure with coaches they have never really seen coach. Maybe Bush didn't really want to be a fulltime assistant. I'm sure if he did he had opportunities elsewhere, and if he didn't he probably got the job he really wanted. My guess is Lane Kiffin won't be there in 4 years. He's not a very good coach, and history has shown that.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Yeah. How horrible of us to go out and hire a highly regarded defensive coordinator to coach the position instead of promoting a good high school coach that has been an analyst for a few years so Harbaugh knows first-hand if the guy is ready to coach or not...
February 7th, 2020 at 1:48 PM ^
I think he has more sway in the south with recruits than Matt Dudek
February 7th, 2020 at 6:24 PM ^
Competition is buying condos and briefcases of cash for mamas and you're worrying about a parent/coach?
February 7th, 2020 at 12:35 PM ^
Interesting... curious to know why he never got a promotion here when he built quite the powerhouse at his HS in Florida
February 7th, 2020 at 12:40 PM ^
There have been insinuations that he doesn't want to coach.
I mean, let's be honest, a guy with his track record could get a position coaching job somewhere if he wanted to.
February 7th, 2020 at 12:57 PM ^
Fair enough. Best of luck to him. He’ll crush it as a recruiting coordinator I’m sure.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:45 PM ^
Then why didn't we hire him for the same position, as we could use the organization???
February 7th, 2020 at 12:40 PM ^
Damn. I guess we get stuck with his replacement Jeff Jackson Bush.
February 7th, 2020 at 5:01 PM ^
No company car was the deal-breaker too!
February 7th, 2020 at 12:45 PM ^
I feel like ninety percent of his job at Ole Miss as recruiting director is going to be coordinating with boosters and deciding how much money to pay each recruit.
February 7th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
Ralph wiggum or bush Sr? Should've opened that spot up to retain bush. Oh well, just another thing.
February 7th, 2020 at 12:57 PM ^
Dude that sounds like my dream job.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Does anyone know what kind of vehicle Shea has been driving around for the last four years ?

Question for the board: would you rather have Matty D or Bush Sr. as Director of Football Recruiting?
Parents seem to love Dudek, although I would've loved to keep him on the staff.
February 7th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
By all reports Dudek is excellent at his job and he’s proven. Bush has pedigree but is very unproven
February 7th, 2020 at 12:58 PM ^
Devin Bush Sr. obviously. “Thee Matty D” is a pretty unlikable guy. Even more unlikable when Michigan finishes outside the top 10 in recruiting.
February 8th, 2020 at 12:08 PM ^
... K. But players and parents love the guy. I think not finishing with a top 10 class might have more to do with Michigan not winning a conference title in these recruits lifetime and peak Michigan in their memory is a borderline top 10 team...
February 7th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Dudek seems like a total douchebag on twitter and kinda looks like Elmer Fudd with a shit-tier beard, so I guess Bush Sr.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
I think there has been prior confusion on what Matty D actually does or doesn't. I do know that the Recruiting Dept. has taken some serious hits this off-season. They seem to be behind (go-figure) from other programs when it comes to showing off the recruits and wowing them.
But with much of Harbaugh and his stagnant approach, I don't expect Matty D to go anywhere anytime soon.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:49 PM ^
My buddy’s kid holds a UM offer.
The family has been quite impressed with Dudek.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:56 PM ^
How many stars???
/asking for Maizen
February 7th, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
When is your buddy's son going to commit?
February 7th, 2020 at 6:12 PM ^
If it were up to me, yesterday! And all honesty though, seeing what big time recruiting is like from this close, well, it’s a cesspool.
Funny story, he’s practiced his opening line, maintaining eye contact with a firm handshake to cement the good first impression, but when he met Harbaugh he said he got a bit starstruck and fumbled over the words.
Hopefully my kid is a Division II/III athlete like his old man and never has to go through it!
February 7th, 2020 at 6:13 PM ^
Dudek has been in his position for three recruiting cycles and 2 of those 3 cycles had us finish outside of the top 10.
February 7th, 2020 at 6:58 PM ^
And if you guys posting here had even the slightest clue how little you know, you would be embarrassed for posting with such certainty.
You really don’t know the first goddam thing.
Dunning. Kruger.

February 7th, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
Our staff is fucked on the recruiting front
February 7th, 2020 at 1:09 PM ^
The negativity in this thread was as expected. Wonderful job everyone. Hot takes for days.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
This is interesting and not in a good way
February 7th, 2020 at 1:15 PM ^
Ole Miss is going to be killing it on the recruiting trail very soon. They will probably have top 5 classes sooner rather than later. Kiffin said himself winning in college football is 90% dependent on the talent of the roster. This part he gets.
I do fully expect Ole Miss to crash spectacularly in a few seasons though.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
This is a joke.
I’ll give Kiffin two, maybe three years before he’s out.
February 7th, 2020 at 1:38 PM ^
.....as long as they remember that those school issued cell phones can be tracked.
