Delany on Satellite Camps - Let's Also Talk Oversigning

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

Delany says any national discussion about satellite camps should also include a look at oversigning, grayshirting & "flipping" recruits.

I'm sure the SEC would be thrilled to have that conversation. Finally the B1G commish does something good.

Without Harbaugh's satellite camp tour, the SEC never would have demanded that the NCAA change the rules to make recruiting "fair."  And Delany would not now be pointing out the hypocrisy of the SEC.  The SEC would not have provided such an easy opening for a wider discussion of oversigning etc

that the NCAA is putting the issue atop their list, now that Harbaugh has irritated the Ala, Ga and probably many other SEC coaches?

Do you seriously believe the SEC didn't say anything to Emmert?

And why did Emmert say the NCAA would put the issue atop their list if not to consider NCAA action?

Also, did the SEC get the NCAA to take up the issue--did Emmert speak out publicly about it-- immediately after Franklin announced his camp?

Please.

It's more of a case of the SEC/ACC coaches complaining, and the NCAA/Emmert took notice.  Whether or not the NCAA should be setting discussions based on the complaint of a handful of coaches is a debate of its own.

I am more curious to see if the NCAA will do/say anything now that our commissioner has actually said something about oversigning.  I don't believe the SEC commish has said anything about satellite camps.  If the NCAA were to ignore an actual conference commissioner (who presumably speaks for the conference on most matters) then one could certainly argue blatant favoritism.
