the beginning of the end for Izzo...

Sorry folks to have to make a topic, but couldn't let it slide...

Classless fucking Tom Izzo....

After seeing that crazy -7 MSU line, I decided to watch the MSU-Maryland game, all the while been thinking since Howard beat them last week.... first how Harbaugh essentially sent the football program and Mork away, and how Howard might be doing the same to Izzo, with the recruits coming in and such, and might finally help push him out....

So I'm watching the game .... and I can read lips for the most part....

And just before the 9:57 mark in first half,  after a stoppage in play, Tillman is walking off court and Izzo approaches him and is caught on TV,  screaming

"YOU'RE SO FUCKING STUPID!!"  and then soon after the camera pans away....  anyone who DVRed it can see...its as clear as water...     maybe this a regular thing for him....  I'd embed it if I could...but its there and you can see for yourself.

I wish a reporter would run with this, and get momentum started.... Tillman seems a good guy, and I did not like that, at all... maybe partly because Tillman wanted to play here and we had to pass (for Livers).

Izzo better hope that someone negatively recruiting him doesn't make a clip of it and distribute to future recruits....  these are 18-19 year olds and just didn't sit right.

At least not stupid enough to spike the floor and get injured while doing it.  Izzo is a douche, curses at his players and throws them under the bus during press conferences.  I´ve said this many times before, I really do not know why kids still want to play for him.

IIRC didn't Izzo meet a player half court last season and yell at him and everyone got really upset and them moved on after a few hours. Nothing  will come of this. He will be asked and he will say he really wants to win and loves the kid.

These posts are so dumb. I don't like Izzo or MSU but the way he coaches his players is fine. He is an old school hard ass on them and that's okay. It's his style. His guys love playing for him. The right player will either be molded into a good player or they will crumble. Some players can't handle the tough love. Thank God John's didn't go there because he would be so broken, he would be a completely useless basketball player. For his sake, I'm glad he didn't go there

How acceptable behavior is depends on the era. Nobody had issues with Knight and Woody in their days, but I think we can all agree they wouldn't last more than a few seasons before being booted. Izzo and Saban are holdovers from that style, but they're being outclassed and pushed out by Beilein, Dabo, Howard, Jay Wright, and all the other successful coaches who treat players respectfully. I think it's a great change and can't wait for those out of touch head cases to move on

Whether you think Izzo’s coaching style is reprehensible or just old-school tough is a matter of opinion, but construing whatever he said to Tillman as somehow indicating “the beginning of the end” for Izzo  is a gigantic reach.

This Tillman curse wasn't the sole reason but as I mentioned...Howard just beat him good, and has some stellar recruits coming in, and they're about to lose their best players.  This time it seems we eclipse them for good and he leaves.  Maybe wishful thinking, but let's look back at this period to see if it comes true.

I saw the same thing. Rewound it like five times to make sure, that is exactly what he said. I just don’t understand how someone would want to play for a man who treats them that way. Can he really be that great behind the scenes if he’s that way during games?

Any one notice that they have giant heads of past players they waive around including accused rapist Cleaves? Seems like a bad idea but they honored him at center court recently so I guess it does not matter. Even if he it’s innocent it seems like a really tone deaf thing given their recent past.

Cleaves may have walked out of the courtroom a free man but anybody that’s seen that video knows he’s not innocent.  It’s disgusting that anyone could see that video and let the guy walk.  I wish I could say that I’m surprised that MSU still seems to embrace him but they’ve proven what their priorities are over and over again.

Izzo is definitely feeling the pressure because:

1. Juwan Howard evened the season series.

2a. Howard is outrecruiting Izzo (and the rest of the conference).

2b. Howard is making inroads with future in-state prospects. These prospects are especially important because they are zero sum recruits.

3. Izzo's preseason #1 team has greatly underachieved. If Sparty loses tonight (currently trailing by 8 at the half), Maryland is the clear frontrunner to win the Big Ten Regular Season Championship.

4. Next year's Sparty team will sorely miss senior Cassius Winston and possibly Xavier Tillman (if he leaves).

5. We will likely be top 3-5 preseason in 2020-21 and that will eat away at Izzo. If the much younger Howard is able to assert Michigan's dominance over the state, it's curtains for Izzo who will be 66.

People were tripping over themselves to defend him during the tournament last year after he got in the face of one of his players. Staee fans worship him. Some media rightful ripped him last year but most make excuses and defended him.

edit: Maryland will choke this game away. Book it.
