Absolutely loving these…

Absolutely loving these quick little updates.

How did we fall out of the…

How did we fall out of the David Saunders recruitment? Figured we would at least have a punchers chance with Davis on the team now.

Both should go.

MHJ isn't…

Both should go.

MHJ isn't going to get any better position in the draft by staying.

Henderson is a RB, the market for these guys is so different now. RB's basically only have X amount of carries in them and the longer he stays in college that is less carries in the NFL. He's a guy that if productive could get a big, for an RB, 2nd contract.

No mention of Walter Nolan…

No mention of Walter Nolan surprises me. To use Brian's lingo we should kick the tires right?

Dan Mullen

Dan Mullen

Yeah this isn't too…

Yeah this isn't too surprising. Some how kids what to play for him. Best case scenario is they all stay committed then jump to the NBA at the last minute. That would be pretty sweet.

Yes

Yes

(No subject)

Fuck my life!

Fuck it hard!

Bummer!

But I get it.

Kid…

Bummer!

But I get it.

Kid won't even be on campus a full calendar year. Why not go to a party school with beautiful woman and awesome weather and play with your brother. Can't say I wouldn't do the same thing at 18.

The NCAA would have to make…

The NCAA would have to make an amendment that you can carry more then 13 scholarship players. You as a coach are recruiting with those guys being graduated and gone.

I honestly hope it doesn't happen. As cool as it would be to have those guys back.

I saw the same thing…

I saw the same thing. Rewound it like five times to make sure, that is exactly what he said. I just don’t understand how someone would want to play for a man who treats them that way. Can he really be that great behind the scenes if he’s that way during games?

I listened to the podcast…

I listened to the podcast and you missed it but thought you’d remember it in the write up. You forgot about the Patterson slide where he got blasted, possibly even targeted, for ref bitching. Don’t really recall the part of the game it happened but that was bad.

I can see this bringing the…

I can see this bringing the Ravens another Super Bowl and then them never getting close again because Jackson had that one magical year where he stayed healthy the whole time and then never could again.

I wish I didn't hate the…

I wish I didn't hate the Packers so much.

But I hope Rashan tears it up there!

Yup, sorry about that one.

Yup, sorry about that one.

If I have to choose from…

If I have to choose from that list I say get LaVall and try to keep the assistants and keep this thing going as best we can.

Take this for what it's…

Take this for what it's worth which is about nothing in my opinion. Have an uncle who is apparently some how pretty plugged into the recruiting scene down in Florida. Some guys hes worked with have had kids recruited and gone D1. But people tell him Bama doesn't pay for players anymore. They don't need to.

Now yes I understand how this looks Uncle who knows things...

My point is right or wrong it makes since. You can go to Bama and now Clemson and if you don't get to the NFL at least you'll have a natty or two when you leave.

Definitely had my hopes up…

Definitely had my hopes up for him. Just gotta go out and find another shooter.

Love these. One thing I…

Love these. One thing I would like to see though is the measurables of a recruit.

I just got Twitter. I mostly…

I just got Twitter. I mostly only follow Michigan sports related things. I don’t follow any friends or family. Mostly because I don’t care about your kid or if you went to Traverse City this weekend. I can see where during an election year it would suck to be on Twitter. Everyone just voicing their shitty opinions on things.

Anyway, the way I have been using Twitter I really enjoy it.

Happy not happy.

Helps…

Happy not happy.

Helps our chances to beat them obviously. But hate seeing kids hurt and at the same time providing MSU with an excuse when they get swept.

“Though the explosive…

“Though the explosive combination of Wesson's 8.1 fouls drawn per 40 and Davis's 7.9 fouls committed might provide some comic relief.”

That was the reason for my post. I realize now I should have  referenced this so it wouldn’t seem as if I was making fun of a kid that works hard and is a valued member of the team.

Question for the board:

If…

Question for the board:

If Beilein was to leave in Davis until he used up all his fouls how long would he last?

I'll set the over under at 10 defensive possessions.

Beat me by a few seconds!!

Beat me by a few seconds!!

This is an issue, I think…

This is an issue, I think. Are parents going to let kids play these sports without this insurance?

My sister works for a big insurance company and this is what she does. She sells insurance to travel sports teams and such. She said they stopped even insuring youth soccer, apparently there is a lot of concussions and not worth the risk.

I've complained about the…

I've complained about the stickers to my friends since they came back. I like them but I wish there were fewer or make the stickers themselves smaller. I'd like it to be a compliment to the helmet its self not this overbearing thing that I see it as.

I only like Valenti when he…

I only like Valenti when he is like this. After we beat MSU in the BTT he had another great meltdown. That was like the third time I had ever heard him.

All bowls should be "Bowl…

All bowls should be "Bowl Name" presented by "Company X". So this one should be the Cactus Bowl presented by Cheez-Its. The Orange Bowl presented by FedEx, the Rose Bowl is the only one that does this and it just sounds better. The company still gets their name announced after commercial breaks and at halftime. It's a win win for everyone.

I'm fine with it

I think I am in the minority when I say that I Liked when Gardner wore 98. I like when players wore the retired numbers. Hoke just went about it all wrong, only giving it to seniors or guys who “earned” it. That is stupid. Devin Bush wore 11 in High School, I’m sure he would have chosen to 11 at Michigan had it been available. You need to treat them like any old number not this thing that can only be attained after a year or two. It’s been said on here before but it sort of ruins a players legacy when they switch numbers. I remember Jordan Kovacs as wearing 32 not 11. If it’s done right I sure hope they bring those numbers back.

just a sad state of affairs

One thing that really upsets me is him say he has never run from anything in his life. Tom, you are running from the ESPN report and the FBI report. Just come out and say what you know. It’s the oldest adage in the world, the truth will set you free. I wish one of these coaches or assistants would just come out and blow this whole thing up by just telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

have to disagree, sorry.

Steele Chambers is the better of the two names. Clearly his parents knew what they were doing when they named him Steele with the last name of Chambers. Best name I've seen in a long while.

Sad

This is just sad all the way around. Dakich didn't need to send those tweets at all, yes everyone thinks that but to say it on twitter is a different thing. And Izzo going on for about 5 minutes about how Dakich needs to apoligize and he would have chanted those things alopng with the student section just makes him look like Dakich is right. Izzo talking about how it was unprofessional and he talks about it for five minutes in a post game press conference. I'm sure the media doesn't want to hear that Tom, they want your comments on the game, not your comments on how Twitter made another person look stupid again.

did we even have a shot?

In this rivals he makes it sound like Michigan wan't really int he picture and that ND was way up on the top of his list. I would think the UM would want this kid, Rivals puts him at #90 in the country right around where Thomas was this year.

PAYWALLED

Getting Collins is more about Getting Collins is more about our presence in the south at this point I think. Need to show recruits down there that they can and maybe should come north to play football.

Is Dantonio smart? I feel Is Dantonio smart? I feel like reading they waited till the 11th hour to request the Ed Davis sixth year. Maybe the NCAA felt bad for him because it was to late to get into the draft. IDK like Brian says people are in charge of things just to be in charge of them.

Redshirts for TE's

In taking a pass on TE's in this class I'm really hoping that Eubanks and McKeon can get redshirts. Really need to spread out the talent at that posiotion now.

Maybe

I think the coaches are just covering them selves. They feel things trending away with Nico, I'm sure we still have a shot at him but need to have a backup plan if things don't work out. Plus if we get both, yeah thats a lot of recivers and only one ball, but there have been rumors of Nate Johnson wanting to transfer so it might be that too. Either way I like it after watching Hunter Renfrow tourch Bama, Martin reminds me of him a bit watching his film.

Bummer

He seems like kid who you will hate to play against but love to have on your team.

longevity

Rivals and Scout have been doing it the longest. they also do a lot of reranks throught the year. Rivals seems to favor those who show up to their camps more.

Hand

Dashawn Hand and Damian Harris

thanks

thanks for doing some digging on this Brian

Greyshirt

That's a bold move by Meyer considering that he doesn't have a commitment from one of those two five stars he's recruiting. one is committed else where and the other is from Mississippi.

sorry

didn't do a search. I'll be sure and do that next time

same here

just haven't been able to find anything offical yet

early enrollee

he's been on campus for a minute

Rivals

I have had a rivals account for sometime now, over five years, and I must say I agree that they have gone downhill in the few years as far as recruiting info and team info in general. Anything I read about fall or spring practices I take with less than a grain of salt because nothing has really come to fruition that they write. I've benn shopping for a new paywalled site, thinking about switching to 247.

Glen Steele

I was thinking Glen Steele but more athletic. He played DE like Gary will and his senior year I think he had a least one sack every game.

GIF!!!!

Someone with some computer skills please gif the crap out of that

Football vs basketball recruiting They are extremely different. The obvious you are signing 25-30 kids in football and maybe 2-3 in basketball. AAU and summer ball really drive college bball and where kids will go. Kids like a Josh Jackson usually have "handlers" who take money in exchange to steer kids to schools. Now I'm not saying Josh has taken money from schools or has these "handlers" but when it comes to top ten kids in bball I'm willing to bet 9 out of those ten kids do. It's just a different beast all together and one Beilein won't get involved in. He has gotten lucky with kids like McGary who didn't have these handlers and so he recruited clean and hard and got him. He got lucky with GR3 and Burke and Hardaway. Those guys were not highly rated when they commuted to play for him. GR3 commuted as an unranked three star. What we are seeing right now is recruiting misses and people not developing the way Beilein thought they would or should.
