OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 5/11: WE'RE SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON (COLLEGE)
As always, thanks everyone for your contributions to the war effort. We had an ANOTHER amazing night last night. We kept/maintained every single one of our primary goals: UMass, Syracuse, Army and Buttgers. We are now very close to solidifying a chokehold in the Northeast. We also managed to maintain Ann Arbor. We had ANOTHER enormous jump in power/users yesterday because of you guys.
We're by far the fastest growing team in the game. And hey let's compare ourselves to OSU.
We now significantly outpower them after being weaker than them for most of the game. A LOT of salty OSU fans have been complaining that we've been creating bots. But we know that's its because you guys.
We are encouraging any users on here that have been attacking anything in Michigan or Ohio to send your resources to the Northeast. You can directly help by defending any of our current territories in the NE (Rutgers, Army, UMass which are at threat from Clemson) or attacking any enemy territories bordering them. In particular, we want you guys to hit the territories "Boston College" and "UConn" HARD. If we take them, we will have grabbed the corner of the map and have finally accomplished our first goal in the game.
Instructions to Join:
To join all you need to do is go to reddit.com/r/cfb and create an account if you don't already have one. Next, set your flair to Michigan. You can do this by clicking "Select Flair" on the right side of the cfb subreddit. Finally, you can join and play the game at https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php.
If you want to discuss the game in deeper detail and strategize with us, you can join our discord server found here: https://discord.gg/TcZBTcj. We usually announce plans of what we want to attack/defend in the evenings, but we discuss strategy all day. Be warned though, there will be a vetting process to join the discord as we have had some mole issues from OSU. Even if you don’t pass the vetting process, we can still provide less-secret instructions in the general chat so that you can still help us towards our goals until we can fully 100% trust you.
Additionally, we have formed "The Blue Alliance" with Florida and Georgia Tech. If you would like to meme about this, go to: www.reddit.com/r/CFBRisk/
Go Blue!
Instructions as to how to play:
At the beginning of the game. Every team was assigned one single territory, and so every territory is now named after that team. When you go to select an action in the game, you'll see option such as:
"Defend Buffalo", "Attack Penn State", "Attack Kent State".
This means that we border the location that was originally assigned to Penn State and Kent State. If you choose to attack Penn State, you will attempt to take that piece of land next round. Defend Buffalo, means that we currently own Buffalo's original homeland, and defending Buffalo means putting your stars towards keeping Buffalo from being taken.
After you submit what you're doing for the day, just sit back at wait! At Midnight EST all of the picks from all of the teams go in, and a random number generator selects a winner for each territory. Then it all happens again tomorrow.

Also, I got a request about making a guide for how to increase your stars. I didn't have time to do that for this post, but I'll try to write up a quick google doc at some point today and post it in the comments. I'll also include it in any posts going forward.
Nice, I was just about to ask for this!
I think it's mostly just because Nebraska and Florida fans got good participation from frequent Reddit users from the jump. We didn't really, and we have so few stars/user because we have recruited a ton of people from mgoblog.
I've thought about trying to query reddit for everyone with Michigan flair and PMing them.
They did just that. When I first joined I noticed it on Reddit.
I finally joined in, late committment of a 2 star to the ranks!
We scrape all the numbers from the website every day, but our numbers are set up so they will only display active participants. The Leaderboard shows total people who have registered.
You are attacking the school's land, not the current team that is the "winner" of that land. Currently BC is conquered by Clemson, but we are going to attack BC to conquer it (thus replacing Clemson.)
Hit Boston College and Uconn hard!
Why is there so much red in Michigan?
We ditched it to make a break for the NorthEast, because it's a huge geographic advantage to own it. We plan to march back to Michigan later and obliterate OSU.
Also, OSU creates a firewall against Team Chaos. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we don't want to deal with Chaos, right?
Chaos is every single team that has already been eliminated, so we definitely don't. They're the third most powerful team right now (we are #4).
Yeah it would. At the time we left for the northeast we were a lot weaker though. Chaos also started in Alaska so they were very far. Hopefully OSU takes care of it.
Right. You'd think if they dont' do that, then Chaos would just have a totally insurmountable advantage unless snuffed out pretty quickly.
What are the stats for Clemson. How much power do we need to throw at BC and UConn?
Deleted because I might be sharing too much
As long as I double posted, what about VT. If we dont need to use all our power on Clemson should we work to eleminate VT as well?
Why would this get downvoted?
because they aren't interested.
I realize you're not the one saying this, but there's really nothing to clutter. The last Risk update is also on the front page still because it's that slow around here. It's not like people are going to miss anything because of all the Risk threads.
Because with each r/CFB Risk thread we stray further from God's light

One of the criteria to increase your star level is to visit relevant links. You can do so by clicking "links explored" in the dashboard of the game. It'll show you all the links to click. Takes 30 seconds to click them all.
Signed up and I am attacking Boston College.
Per the discord server message.
Attacked BC
If I have to rejoin discord later that's fine boss is giving me the evil eye.
I'm not signed up yet, but will be soon. I like the strategy of backing off to the northeast for multiple reasons:
1) Creates essentially a 1-front war instead of being attacked from multiple angles.
2) Makes it easier to coordinate future attackes pushing out of the northeast. (We're like a receeding tide before a tidal wave.)
3) Let's OSU and others be our front against team Chaos.
4) While defending one's home state seems noble, strategically it may not make sense. I'm glad to see our (intelligent) UM team not making that blunder. There will be a time to re-take the homeland. Patience.
Struggling to get the hang of it but I am in as jayrome313. Reddit is Crome27. I hit BC today and look forward to these posts. Let's take them all out.
I voted last night, but my profile still says "0 turns played"
Is that normal?
It sometimes takes a while for those stats to update.
I have a multiplier of 1 which means the poster above you must be correct. Thanks to both.
I sent the mods a heads up just in case.
