Changes/updates you'd like to see to The Big House
With the major South Competition and Performance project completed this winter that including 3 new stadiums build on the South athletic campus and the Canham and new arena projects on their way to being presented to Regents this summer, it got me thinking "what's next?".
Now this doesn't have to be a major renovation, but what changes would you like to see to The Big House?
I'd like to see them finally paint championship years on the boxes so they aren't plain Blue anymore, maybe re-start the brick program and have people buy bricks again.
Something/anything highlighting the past players on the concourse? It seems like as far as the Big 3 sports go The Big House does the least to do that.
cheap......
I'm with you on the natural grass. Figure out how the drainage could work and play the game as it should be played... in stead of a game where guys come out when rubber pellets (that may be harmful to ones health) pop up & get in your eye.
If anybogy suggests a dome... might as well paint the place pink or put up giant letters around the sides.
Seriously. As it is now, Michigan Stadium is as nice a facility as I have seen.
Bring back the bathroom where you just pee on the wall though. I miss that.

seems to be less injuries on grass too
turf is much safer then natural grass. It's difficult with grass not to get bare spots and uneven areas and soil compaction where it's extremely hard.

Everything has been tried, there is no way natural grass is gonna work.
The Big House is too far below ground level. Too expensive to maintain.
Even Baseball & Softball ditched the grass and went to FieldTurf.

Is natural grass really such a great thing? Fieldturf doesn't get torn up and looks much better.

I remember hearing that when looking into replacing the grass, Michigan went to the state's leading agricultural university and asked if they would help. Sparty said no. (think about the bragging rights designing Michigan Stadium's field could have given them...)
It's too bad M didn't go further. If you're not capable, we found a university who is. Thanks Prairie View A&M!
If memory serves me right, there's an underground stream that runs underneath the stadium that will always create water issues with real grass fields.

My best friend and his company will be doing the complete reinstall of the turf this summer. There is no way for grass to work.
Season starts too early in Michigan for grass to be healthy on bball and sball fields.
I'm sure there's a more eloquent way of saying that, but this was close to perfect.
The Maize & Blue tile in those bathrooms was nice too. Current bathrooms are just generic.

Hard pass on the natural grass. The field turf is one of the best things to happen to the stadium. It is much safer and look alot cleaner.
Shorter rest room lines, also not letting assholes use the exit of the bathroom as the entrance.

Similarly, I'd want an upper deck between the two skyboxes. They could then redo the rest of the seats and make them wider while upping the capacity to say 130k

I laughed, but a part of me is concerned and scared a part of the athletic department saw this and took the request seriously.

Who made you the authority on who should or shouldn't go to a game?

There's too many arguments on this blog. I wish the moderators would step into them and say, 'just stop'.

Since when did this blog become a place where ideological disagreements couldn't be a thing?
Sorry, I have a problem with fans who pull the "if you're not standing up, stay home" card. The stadium is a space for anyone who wants to buy a ticket. Just because you want to stand up doesn't mean they don't have the right to also watch the game and be treated with consideration.
One's desire for "MORE NOIZE" doesn't overrule basic human decency.
