Sister Jean guarantees Loyola will win the national championship

Wow. Guess she's in a predictive mood.

I went to Catholic School taught by actual nuns. They told me certain things would happen to me if I performed certain acts. I performed the acts anyway. The things didn't happen. I don't trust nuns anymore.

I'm very happy Sister Jean has gotten to enjoy the ride. She seems like a sweet lady. Too bad for her it's about to end.

Also, Saturday is one of 2 days of the year that Jesus can't help her! He's dead till Sunday!

is apparently the Loyola-Chi team chaplain. Sweet old lady that she is, she "guarantees" her team will win the NC. That's nice, but wholly irrelevant.

What is relevant is that Loyola-Chi has had a couple last-second wins and had a convincing win against a higher-seeded K-State team that I thought would clean their clock. Loyola-Chi has several players who can shoot the 3-ball and a fascinating 6-9 big in Cameron Krutwig, whose hook-shot style of play evokes memories of George Mikan or others of that era.  Loyola-Chi is almost the mirror-opposite of FSU. They do have a 7-footer on the roster, but his near-permanent position is center-bench.

So Loyola-Chi's tallest guy doesn't pose nearly the in-the-paint threat that FSU's bigs --- all of them --- did. Xavier and Charles, the lanes are yours. And look for M to get its shooting eye back.

All in all, an interesting matchup with a good chance for an M win, regardless of what Sister Jean says.

Yea I cant see Krutwig staying on the floor very long. There is no way hes able to guard Moe off the high screen. If Moe hits his shots Loyola will have to go small. Like 5 guard small. This is an interesting matchup. Hit our averages though shooting the ball and we win going away.

Good thing I'm not Catholic - I don't have to listen to her!

She sounded a little worn out last night, slower than she was after the S16 win over Nevada.  But what 98-yr old amoung us would sound sprite and full of energy after the last two weeks of this tunamelt?  Good for her picking her team, I wouldn't expect anything different.  Except, you know, that she had already picked them to lose in the S16.  Sh she's playing with house money right now, why not pick'em?

As for the game, LIL plays an offense very similar to Beilein's, but without the lock down defense.  They play pretty good defense, but nothing like Michigan's.  And honestly, I don't think they've played a team that can shut down everything like Michigan can.  They're going to hit some shots and hang tough, but I think Michigan will have an average shooting night and win comfortable.  That's my hot take for the morning.

We're going to be the evil big school team that kills off Cinderella and her sweet, lovable sidekick.  We're the Villain's this week...

But for them a Final Four appearance should suffice. God knows we've done our Pennance as a program after all the Fab Five punishment and it's time for Glory! Hallelujah and Go Blue!

from the FBI investigation, they could probably use some sweet old lady to help bolster their image. Don't be surprised if the officiating helps her and her team cut the net. singed, Captain Buzzkill.

As a Lutheran and Wolverine, I guess "protestant" takes on added meaning this week. God bless the Sister and the wonderful work she's done for nearly a century, but here's where her ride comes to an end!

The ever-starved American public, hungry to always worship something to make up for their horribly boring and empty lives have found another idol.

The worst part of it is the camera will be all over this old bat the ENTIRE game. I'm also sure the referees, always eager to ruin a good basketball game, will do their part to make sure this sorrry ass spectacle won't end Saturday.

I'm praying to Zeus, Jupiter and Ra that Belein and the Wolverines blast this uninteresting and typically overplayed, DULL circus back into the oblivion from which it all emerged.

I mean facing an 11 seed in the final four is a gift from the b-ball gods. But the sister is cute and I like her. She is a feel good story and Loyola in the final four is cool. March Madness lives on ... legendary tournament, probably the best thing going in all of sports. That we get to play on is such a huge accomplishment. Would love to see us in the finals versus 'Nova. Go Blue !!!

I don't know about her guaranteeing. ""I know that she didn't have Loyola-Chicago in the Elite Eight," (Moritz) Wagner said, referring to the bracket Sister Jean filled out before the tournament began." Her second bracket where Loyola wins it all may be her prayer request.

The prayers of a woman her age, who spends her life being close to God, can accomplish a lot. That is actually giving me a note of disconcert for Michigan. But Go Blue!

Loyola is obviously acknowledging her help. They gave her a piece of the net last night--link to video:

Ode To Sister Jean

She was more like a voodoo queen
From a movie scene
I said, "Don't mind, but what do you mean
That Loyola's the one
Who will dance on the floor in the final round?"
She said Loyola's the one
Who will dance on the floor and cut nets down.

She told me her name was Sister Jean
As she cursed the Wolverines
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the final round

For four tourney games on four special nights
God was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand
Her schemes and plans
'Cause Wolverines will dance on the floor all around
So Sister take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice

Sister Jean is not my nun
She's just a lady who claims Loyola's the one
But the Blue will get it done
She says Loyola's the one, but the Blue will end her run

IF she didn't then that is proof that she knows that Michigan will win and that is it is God's will for Michigan to win it all!

and there arose in the land an unlikely prophet, his name was capn' crunch.  he was too sweet for many of the israelites, but the gentiles didn't mind that so much.  and the capn' prophesied and it was good, and it was pleasing to the people.  being filled with the free-throwing spirit, he assembeled the faithful and said:  IF she didn't then that is proof that she knows that Michigan will win and that is it is God's will for Michigan to win it all!

and the people were happy, and there was joy and feasting all over the land of wolverine.

Sure, it'll be a tough week with the media. But we're survivors of 1997 and the Tom Osborne campaign - and at least this one will be decided on the court. This is nothing compared to what ESPN did with Osborne.
