Updated CBB Imperialism map
Latest imperialism map (for combined regular season and tournaments). FSU only has 9 territories, so not much land to gain by defeating them. KSU has 148 and UM is second with 52. All of which is meaningless in reality, but still a fun concept.

You seem to put a lot of thought into this...

He nailed it.
A former Soviet Republic is home to the Dookies.

I'm pretty sure this is a whole season one. Reddit has a tournament only one as well that is more what you were expecting. Duke would have MSU territory in the Tournament only one.
EDIT: here's the tournament only one. https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/86qvez/2018_ncaa_to…

MSU doesn't claim anything. This is based on game results. Kansas State owns MSU's territory because they beat someone (who beat someone) who beat MSU earlier.
Because we've beaten someone who already owned the Tallahassee region. Florida State already lost it somewhere along the way and we've picked it up from someone else over the course of the season.

Its just like the football one that got mentioned all CFB season.
You start with all the land your university is closest to.
Win you beat someone, you gain their land, and all land they have acquired via their wins.
When you lose, you lose your land and all that that you acquired.
You can lose your land, and then beat someone later and gain new land.
Its for the whole season, not just the tournament.
He who occupies Matagascar wins the game.

Steady supply of armies, easy to defend.
Shouldn't we also own Indiana because we curb stomped Purdidn't in the BTT? This map confuses me...

This reminds me of an old girlfriend . . . fun, but basically useless.
Don't take it too seriously. This is mostly just a fun way to track team momentum - teams that did better towards the end of regular season should (in theory) have more land and be able to take it into the tournament.
