Izzo 'took too many bullets'

Submitted by MGlobules on

In his post-stomp interview Izzo says he's "taken too many bullets not to come back next year," has a bunch of uncomplimentary things to say about MSU's fans:

Yep, Izzo's the martyr, not the women who got punched and raped, saw justice denied. All that was set aside while the more important business of his vain pursuit of an NC continued. Shameful.

Not sure if it's included in the clip or not but he was also critical of the media saying "you all" a couple times when talking about all the distractions around the program this year. Well guess what, Tom. When you foster a culture of rape and sexual abuse, you're going to get asked about it. I hate that guy so much. A whiny coward.

Anyone else getting a "Start of a long, slow decline" feeling here.  Given how stubborn Izzo is being and the fact that MSU can't push him out it looks like we're seeing the start of the program's death throes.

Agree with MGrowOld that the local media isn't going to push this(and that it's the local media pushing it that eventually tips the scales to producing consequences), but I don't think it's protective as much as, "MSU is going to be defiant and a pain in the ass and there just isn't enough interest in a negative story about MSU to deal with the BS."  Michigan fans for the most part already think MSU is a joke/dirty and MSU fans will lose their minds trying to protect their sacred cow coaches.  Think the PSU thing, only with a less readily identifiable fuckup.

"So I’ll be here and we’ll be back knocking on the door to win a championship, I’m gonna make damn sure of that. I’m gonna get the help of my people, my team, my support and hopefully I’ll do a better job handling all the other things.”

Well, one thing he'll need to wait for, if John Engler's comments mean anything, is his new boss, for Engler said that they weren't going to hire an AD until they were cutting down the nets at the Final Four in San Antonio. I mean, I don't know when the Final Four will be in San Antonio again or if MSU will even be there, but that seems like an awfully long time to wait to make a hire.

"Izzo took too many bullets."

I love that.  Kind of reminds me of the day Joe Paterno died and Todd Blackledge said JoePa died of a broken heart because the public had turned on him.

Was defending people who covered for rapists always a thing or is this a relatively new trend?

As a longtime and recovering-from-it criminal defense attorney, I can unequivocally tell you it is a very recent thing, and so disgusting that I want to vomit each time I hear another instance of it.

Tom Izzo---please retire to Spring Lake/Grand Haven, sit on your god-damned porch, and try to put the pieces back to together of how you lost your god-damned soul.

It pained me when he took the Michigan State job because I wanted to like the guy, given the proximity of his hometown to mine. However, as the years passed, and it became more apparent how he goes about his business, I 1. have grown ashamed that he's from where I'm from and 2. am thankful he never managed to land the Michigan job.

I know there aren’t a lot of soccer fans on here, but like I’ve said on another thread, Izzo is basketball Jose Mourinho. Game has passed him by, has an excuse for everything, it’s always about him, and is a classless jerk. I hope they give him an extension like Jose, and we can just continue to beat him!!

He is beyond insufferable, but this is how lots of coaches look when they are at the end of their runs.  They start slipping, and some go gracefully and some go out with piss and vinegar spewing from every orifice.

He never cared about anything that happened at MSU except if it hurt his team on the court.  Glad to see he can stew in it for another year.

I have never told anyone this.  I rooted for Michigan State once.  It was a women's soccer game.  I wanted to bang the striker and knew that a victory would have her in the mood.  MSU won, and I had assessed the situation correctly.  I banged her, but only in the butt so it doesn't really count.  However, and this is where the story takes an awful turn, a child was conceived from our unholy union. An anal baby, if you will.  And the name of that anal baby.....Tom Izzo.  I am so sorry.

The ESPN “hit job” got to Izzo. If you’re happy with what you’ve done, you welcome scrutiny. This doesn’t appear to be the case for Tom Thumb. (Nickname would stick if he was from Alpena!)
