Beating Team Canada all day long POSBANG
As if the women's hockey victory wasn't enough, team USA men just took down Canada in curling (who have been olympic champions the last three games in a row) to go to the gold medal match for the first time EVER!
Me watching the last stone going down the ice:

You may have universal affordable heathcare for all citizens, reasonable gun control laws that help prevent mass shootings every week or two and sweet designs on your currency, and a respectable intelligent head of state...but we have women's hockey baby!
February 22nd, 2018 at 11:16 AM ^
Your supposed "respectable, intelligent" PM is a PC clown who last week actually interrupted someone to stop them from using the term "mankind", instead use the term "human-kind", and Trudeau wasnt joking. Trudeau is as much a mess as Trump, just from the left PC brown-shirt thug division of Canadian politics.
Universal healthcare? Sure, if you wanna wait 2 years for a life saving procedure, and have medical death-boards decide if you are going to die, or get the procedure.
CANADA IS GIANT, HUMILIATED MESS.

I think we're celebrating the 1, and not the 4. Which is generally accepted.

when the 1 is more recent than any of the 4.

Under your logic, we better not see you celebrating when we beat Ohio State next year.

I’ll be honest, it’s Olympic womens hockey, I don’t really care. Hell I don’t actually like hockey. But, someones got to push the boat out and as a resident Canadian I’ve got to give people someone to talk shit to. We’ve all got a part to play in this. But lets all agree not to demean ourselves and pretend like any of us care about curling
February 22nd, 2018 at 9:42 AM ^
I'd like to downvote you for the "I don't really care" as you apparently do. But upvote you for the curling comment. Although that is the same competition Duluthians vs. Canadians.

"Canada has owned womens Olympic hockey since its inception and one loss doesn't change that"
That's a funny way to say you don't care. And I freely admit that I could not care less about curling... but if Canadians don't care about it, then who does??!?
February 22nd, 2018 at 10:25 AM ^
I question your Canadianism!
February 22nd, 2018 at 10:58 AM ^
Right? A Canadian that doesn't care about hockey is no Canadian.

While the Canadian WNT has owned the Olympics, the overall record between the two teams is more even. The US WNT has won seven of the last eight world champtionships and was ranked No. 1 in the world heading into this Olympics.
To say it isn't a rivaly doesn't really make sense. Pretty sure all the players and coaches on both teams would disagree.
February 22nd, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
You do know the USA has beat Canada 8 of the last 10 games and the last several World Championships don't you? Just happen to have lost the last four Olympics to them.
But yeah, its becoming less of a rivalry unless Canada can step it up.

It'd really be great to see the trend continue and add another Gold in Beijing!
February 22nd, 2018 at 2:24 PM ^
Are you going to prented like 1998 didn't happen? They haven't owned it since its inception. They didn't even win the first gold.
Lie down before you hurt yourself.

That's what Canada gets for using the metric system, serving french fries with gravy, saying "Zed" instead of just "Z", ending words with "re" rather than "er", and requiring Daytime Running Lights on cars. GO USA! Beat the fuzzy little Canadians!

To be fair though, Tim Horton's makes a very nice variety of breakfast sandwiches to which I would rather not lose access. Also, my kids have made Timbits on Saturday something of a tradition in the house. Is it possible that we could have a combination restaurant on this one? Looking for some opportunities to maintain the best of both worlds here.

I will never understand the fascination. It is... adequate, I guess? I was genuinely excited when they came to Michigan because of all the hype, but it was very disapointing. The supposed world class coffee is a half step above Folgers, and the timbits are nice, but not remarkable. Reminds me of the Krispy Creme obsession in the 90s and its subsequent collapse.
Now, chick-fil-A on the other hand...

Curling, it turns out, is hard.
Even more shocking is Rachel Homan getting eliminated before the medal round. She was as sure a bet for Gold as you could make.
February 22nd, 2018 at 11:18 AM ^
Yes, curling is very hard. Like baseball, the people at the top, the ones you watch on TV, make it look so easy you forget how hard it really is.
Homan's exit was a surprise, but something weird must have happened in the women's tournament. Switzerland didn't make the medal round either and they were top-5 coming in as well, and team GBR had to beat Canada on the last day to make the semifinal as well. Korea and Japan aren't your typical curling countries, yet one of them will be in the gold medal game.

And yet no one thinks they are sports.
