Beating Team Canada all day long POSBANG

Submitted by KansasBlue on

As if the women's hockey victory wasn't enough, team USA men just took down Canada in curling (who have been olympic champions the last three games in a row) to go to the gold medal match for the first time EVER!

Me watching the last stone going down the ice:

Your supposed "respectable, intelligent" PM is a PC clown who last week actually interrupted someone to stop them from using the term "mankind", instead use the term "human-kind", and Trudeau wasnt joking.  Trudeau is as much a mess as Trump, just from the left PC brown-shirt thug division of Canadian politics.

Universal healthcare?  Sure, if you wanna wait 2 years for a life saving procedure, and have medical death-boards decide if you are going to die, or get the procedure.

CANADA IS GIANT, HUMILIATED MESS.

It’s okay, Canada’s a great country. Tim Horton’s, Mounties, natural splendour (I spelled it Canadian for you), some land surprisingly south of 54’40” (no need to fight), and the second best women’s hockey team in the world! (Also - you won your last gold 4 on 3 in overtime. “Dominant.”)

I’ll be honest, it’s Olympic womens hockey, I don’t really care. Hell I don’t actually like hockey. But, someones got to push the boat out and as a resident Canadian I’ve got to give people someone to talk shit to. We’ve all got a part to play in this.  But lets all agree not to demean ourselves and pretend like any of us care about curling

While the Canadian WNT has owned the Olympics, the overall record between the two teams is more even. The US WNT has won seven of the last eight world champtionships and was ranked No. 1 in the world heading into this Olympics.

To say it isn't a rivaly doesn't really make sense. Pretty sure all the players and coaches on both teams would disagree.

That's what Canada gets for using the metric system, serving french fries with gravy, saying "Zed" instead of just "Z", ending words with "re" rather than "er", and requiring Daytime Running Lights on cars.  GO USA!  Beat the fuzzy little Canadians!

To be fair though, Tim Horton's makes a very nice variety of breakfast sandwiches to which I would rather not lose access. Also, my kids have made Timbits on Saturday something of a tradition in the house. Is it possible that we could have a combination restaurant on this one? Looking for some opportunities to maintain the best of both worlds here.

I will never understand the fascination.  It is...  adequate, I guess?  I was genuinely excited when they came to Michigan because of all the hype, but it was very disapointing.  The supposed world class coffee is a half step above Folgers, and the timbits are nice, but not remarkable. Reminds me of the Krispy Creme obsession in the 90s and its subsequent collapse.

Now, chick-fil-A on the other hand...

Super fun--and it wasn't really toward the OT that I felt US really had momentum. Canada was harassing us the entire time, and just seemed bigger and faster. Such a fun game to watch! Woo!!

Absolutely amazing game to watch. I thought the US skated faster, just had a lot of terrible touches and turnovers in our own zone which led to shots for Canada. The will to win from both teams was incredible. My last thought before going to bed was "that was sport at its absolute best".

I think we did skate faster, but Canada just was always in the way, harassing and we weren't keeping possession in a lot of cases because they were so aggressive. But regardless, I'm a bit embarrassed to say was surprised at how entertaining it was. I love watching women's sports, but haven't found women's hockey as exciting to watch compared to NHL (difference in speed)...but that game was very exciting..and with a good outcome for the good guys!

Schuster played an amazing game and Canada had the key misses. Never thought I would be saying that. Kennedy and Koe in particular are usually lights out so it's pretty shocking the pressure got to them.

Yes, curling is very hard. Like baseball, the people at the top, the ones you watch on TV, make it look so easy you forget how hard it really is.

Homan's exit was a surprise, but something weird must have happened in the women's tournament. Switzerland didn't make the medal round either and they were top-5 coming in as well, and team GBR had to beat Canada on the last day to make the semifinal as well. Korea and Japan aren't your typical curling countries, yet one of them will be in the gold medal game.
