is there a source on this? Seems like too much of an nfl guy and not enough of a WR guy compared to the rest of the candidates but he did do some amazing things with the Giants offense last year despite a shitty Oline

Hasn't coached the college game since 2004, benched Eli Manning for Geno Smith in an act of desperation, was hated by most of the players he coached this past season, was a grad assistant at MSU. Gonna be a no for me.

I don't want an NFL guy who doesn't have significant experience coaching and recruiting at the college level.

This just seems like a one and done guy. No thanks.,

that if anything pro football is beginning copy college football for offensive schemes? Other running QB's the pro game is being trandformed into elite college offenses. The old line up behind the center has gone the way of the doodo bird.

Even JH has now recognized this. So why do we need former pro OC? Hasn't Drevno and Pep proved it is not the way to go?

Based on the guys he's been interviewing we have to assume he's looking for a full time OC, and presumably demoting Drevno, right? Maybe not in title but in his responsibilities? I feel like he's looking for another Jedd. Maybe I'm being too optimistic.

So the fuck is Pep's job? We going to have 3 guys plus Harbaugh who are calling plays? Get a young hungry college coach for one of these damn positions. Get a guy with proven ability to develop wr's and can recruit. If Harbaugh doesn't want Dreveno and Pep calling plays demote them or fire them. Bringing in another OC whose position coaching overlaps with another coaches (in this case qb history overlaps with Pep) and shoehorning him into a position isn't going to magically produce great results for what was already a confused offense.

Have them hire Morton or McElwain. This seems like it wouldn’t be a lasting hire. He doesn’t seem like a guy who’s going to recruit much. The only way he’d be a good recruiter is more than likely because he was an NFL head coach and that brings some kind of prestige. This could also work like Schiano in OSU but that is an altogether different situation.

I'm kind of waiting to hear if they are going to restructure the staff. For instance if Drevno and Pep are staying, and it seems like they are. I’d like to see Warinner coach the line and then hire the best WR coach they can get from another school.

The guy did not call plays before being promoted to head coach, despite his title as OC. He is certainly not going to come in here and play a significant role in playcalling.

Ran a quick slant, dink and dunk west coast offense with a quarterback who is most effective throwing the ball downfield.  Wrong offense for the talent he had at his disposal.

I'm starting to think no one truly knows anything. Is this a WR or OC job? Some of these candidates make no sense at all. These rumors seem ridiculous. Some of these candidates, there's no way they'd take the job as a position coach and not an OC. Recruiting is a big part of the job and NFL experience is nice but that doesn't mean anything. I would've thought we'd know by now. We all want drevno gone but we can't until Calvin Anderson makes his decision. So who knows what's going on in the football building.

This would be the worst possible hire that anyone could ever make. McAdoo was a disaster as a HC, who only got the job because of Aaron Rodgers ability. He is a disaster and should never be allowed 100 yards from a football field again!

My fault, I wrote that on the run, a little more in depth, here we go The Giants under McAdoo as Head Coach, the former "QB and Offensive Coordinator Guru" and offensive play caller:

Never scored over 30 points in any game

32nd in 1st Downs Gained

30th in Points Scored

20th in Time of Posession

31st in Red Zone Trips

29th in Total yards

31st in 3rd Down %

29th in First Half Points

He ran almost all plays out of the shotgun in a 3 to 4 WR set, 1 RB, didn't matter if it was 1st & 10, 3rd & short, 4th & Goal; they were predictible to the point where it was just funny. His players gave up on him and ameteurish in dealing with them on a day to day basis.

The truth is he was better than what they had at OC, before him. The Eagles showed interest and wanted to hire him so the Giants fast tracked him in not trying to lose him and made him their head coach, possibly their worst hire since in the past 40 years.

I know precisely dick about assembling a football coaching staff.  I really miss the 90s, when I could stop paying attention to Michigan football for months at a time.  I knew then that we would be competitive year in-year out, go to the Rose Bowl every two or three years, and have a magical season once or twice a decade.  Ever since Coach Carr turned into double-L Lloyd (as in lose to Ohio State, lose the Bowl game), I've grown more obsessive following the off season looking for signs Michigan would turn back into Michigan again.

I miss my serene neglect!

This guy must be pretty old and versatile.  I remember when Dick Vitale wanted Bob McAdoo to play for the Pistons when he was head coach.  I didn't know he was knowledgable about football, too.

I just hope they hire someone who wants to stick around for a while. We need continuity not a revamp every six months with the OL coach leaving, then the OC leaving after the next 6 months, then the passing game coordinator . . . Maybe Harb needs to let some of these other guys handle the administrative duties and he become more involved in the actual coaching, development, offensive schemes and play-calling. At least that way the players learn a particular system and become proficient running it.

As a big Giants fan, here's my $.02 on McAdoo:

1.  The Gients were undone this season by insanely bad OL play.  The OL's inability to run or pass block completely killed the offense's ability to run or throw the ball.  What is worse, the issues with the NYG offence this season were IDENTICAL to those of the second half of the prior season.

Just saying that if I were a team coming off of a historically bad offensive season, where by biggest deficinecy was the OL, I might want to look elsewhere.

2.  During his last season, it came out that the Giants' players almost uniformly hated the guy.  He was especially terrible at dealing with the younger players on the roster.

Being unable to deal with younger NFL players might not translate well to the college level.

3.  After watching how this guy carries himself, there is NO WAY that he would be a good recruiter.

If I were a team that has been struggling with recruiting, I might want to find a 10th coach who can actually help, you know, recruit.

Please take Mr. I Love Sharks over this guy.
