Via Brandon Justice OT Jarrett Patterson down to ND/UM

Like the title says he’s down to ND and Michigan. However, UCLA is still in it. This to me is a good sign or at least let’s hope. Sorry didn’t know how to link but you can go to Brandon Justice’s wedsite. WWW. Thewolverinelounge.com

Ben Bredeson (4-star, 0.9871); Mike Onwenu (4-star, 0.9571); Cesar Ruiz (4-star, 0.9786); Chuck Filiaga (4-star, 0.9475); Ja'Raymond Hall (4-star, 0.8948); Jalen Mayfield (4-star. 0.8988)...

Those are the 4-star OL that Drevno recruited.  He also recruited Spanellis, Stueber, and Honigford.  That's pretty much all of the OL that played well or have any positive outlook.

And yet you claim to be a Michigan fan.  Let me guess the next few posts from this clown...

- Rashan Gary and Aubrey Solomon are busts that have underperformed their ranking.

- Mo Hurst was mediocre but he is gone now.

- David Long and Lavert Hill get hurt too much

- Chase Winovich and Devin Bush would be faster if they cut their hair

- Khaleke Hudson doesn't hit hard enough

- Shea Patterson had bad numbers against Bama

- Tarik Black and DPJ are too short

- Don Brown needs to shave his mustache

Drevno reeling in a 4* that is on the fringe of being a 3* won’t win that many people back over. Especially when he cannot recruit high 4*/5* in our own backyard.
His recruiting has been sub par at best, play-calling definitely negative, and player development has been subpar.

Fair example.  But it's one guy.  One guy = "subpar recruiter"?  While it may be true that he sometimes gets outworked recruiting, he's still brought in a good number of highly rated OL.  I don't know why Brown chose UW, and niether do you.  But sometimes kids just choose to go elsewhere.  Besides, it's not like UW never has good OL's - that's serious competition.

Isaiah Wilson?  Chalk that one up to bagmen.  I'd rather blame something else, anything else, but nothing else makes sense with that situation.

Patterson visited ND this past weekend so it's possible things may have changed and Sam hasn't talked to people about this yet. The positive in all this is that Michigan is definitely a top 2 and if ND is the other team to beat then weather/proximity to home is not a factor. Now just to make that last push and be his top choice.

Do we have room for him and Nicholas petit frere as well as the rice transfer? I'm all for lineman depth so I want all three. Just wondering though

Because he’s actually putting out “VIP” information for free... I don’t hate that these guys sell information, I just think it’s stupid as hell that if I wanna know about a HIGH SCHOOL football players thoughts on a school, I have to give a site $10 a month. So kudos to Brandon for his site.

The pay sites are there to supply the demand for information. I'm with you that I will never, EVER pay for recruiting information because I do not care enough about it. Brandon is currently charging nothing however, his new setup doesn't exactly have the credo and he isn't batting a high enough clip on hunches or proper info that he has the credence that you would get from Sam or someone similar.

Brandon Brown isn't on the same level as those other two.

Brandon Justice is like a 20-year-old kid who's trying to break into the business. If I recall correctly - and someone correct me if I'm wrong - Brice Marich started doing this stuff when he was like 14 years old, and now he's turned that into a job with Scout/247. Maybe it will go somewhere eventually for Justice.

I thought Sam had some good points on getting DB numbers up and that OL numbers were already where they should be. Taking 5-6 OL and leaving DBs thin isn't a good plan

You don't want to have too few defensive backs, true, but the OL is thin. IIRC, we have 13 linemen set to be on the roster in 2018. That's very, very low at a position that ALWAYS plays 5 and often plays 6, not to mention that it's a position where age/strength/knowledge are at a premium. IMO, you need at least 15 guys on the roster who can play OL.

In order to get to the bare minimum, we need two of the following: Patterson, Petit-Frere, or Calvin Anderson (or some other late pickup/transfer).

JBB leaves then 4 OL will have left

Cole and Kugler out of eligibility

JBB - handshake/whatever

Hall - transferred

so 3-4 is what we need to backfill IMO

we have 2 in Hayes and Mayfield

with JBB we currently have 13 plus Vastardis as a walk-on so 1 more OL is a must to get to 15

Hope they can get him. As much as I dislike ND, Kelly has had a great track record with his OL since he's been there. He's sent at least a few of his guys in the first round of the draft, and will be sending at least one more in the draft this May.
