Meta: Can we please ban FranklinHatchett?

The racist stereotyping is out of control and it is downright embarrassing to have that kind of act associated with the University of Michigan in any way. His recent forum post is evidence that he needs to be prevented from sharing content here.

He got Hatchett banned because now all of the evidence of who Hatchett was is gone. The conversations with Bigly were among the most telling. He actually was in the process of dialing the Hatchett character back a bit, but realized it was too late, and didn't want it to come back to who it really was, and it was getting really close.

I think it's context-based, right?  From what I understand, and from what I've observed, the majority of well-educated speakers of AAVE* ("Ghetto-ese", if you prefer) generally only use it when speaking to other AAVE speakers.  So, it's hard for me to believe that a poster would make a coherent post in English and then follow it up with an AAVE post not long thereafter.  It would make about as much sense as occasionally posting to the blog in Spanish.  Sure, some of the readers will understand it, but this isn't a Spanish blog.

(It also didn't seem to me that it was particularly good AAVE, but I don't claim to be an expert. :-)

Then he is a poster who was too ignorant to appreciate the hard work on the front page even enough to know who the owner of the blog is.

That's sad, they provide us with free analysis presented like no where else for free, and this guy doesn't even care?

I would want anyone like that to be banned. The board is an extra part of this site, use the site for it's main purpose first before looking to the right of your screen.

Curious as to how / why people came to know (assume?) that this account was made by Wolverine Devotee. If that’s true he should be ashamed of himself... just not sure why we think that’s the case

I am not sure exactly how the connection was made in this particular case, but I remember the controversy around "DISCUSS MAN" because I pulled the trigger on banning that one. It appeared not too long after a rash of rather unpopular WD threads and those threads took on a very similar approach and style to WD but in the form of bad satire, leading people to assume (jokingly usually) that it was WD. There was never any definitive evidence though.

Of course, DISCUSS MAN, like the now-former user discussed here, went too over the top.

When I first joined, it was said I was WD.  I think it just gets tossed in as an inside joke now for anyone who people think posts too much or posts on small details about Michigan or the football team or who defends WD (only WD defends himself)

Man this is crazy! How the hell do you guys know that's WD? Unless your IP tracking him how do you honestly know? I mean this is a sincere question. I am absolutely lost as to how everybody thinks that is him. I didn't really see what he posted but he went from being WD to racist real quick. I mean what gives honestly?

I must have missed something because I didn’t perceive FH as being “over the top” spamming the board, or racist. I’ve read much worse things on this blog than Ebonics. If the poster offended the masses, I suppose the correct course of action was exile...but I feel like it was more mob mentality. And who really gives 2 shits if somebody wants to upvote their own post? The person complaining about it is no better than the person upvoting.
