Attn: Delaney / B1G Refs...
We have not forgotten your intentional screw job last year in Columbus. We have not forgotten the unprofessional behavior of Daniel Capron, Bobby Sagers, and Kevin Schwarzel. You swung the game 17 poins with 10-15 blatant and timely calls and no calls. Due to your actions the Ohio State Buckeyes were dismembered by Clemson by 5 touchdowns. You cheated hard working student athletes like Jabrill Peppers, Taco Charlton, Jourdan Lewis, Jake Butt and many others out of a decisive victory over OSU.
We have not forgotten...
Below are only a few of the blatant and embarassing calls from the one sided debacle last year.

You owe Michigan a 17 point swing like you gave OSU. We have not forgotten you and your disgraceful actions.
(Edit - for those saying move on - no. You do not let injustice of this magnitude stand. Call it out.)

I can live with so much bad reffing that it almost turns my stomach when I really think about it. But there are three things that really stick out to me here.
1) The refs were Ohio State fans. Like, it's a fact. How in the hell can you have admitted Ohio State fans reffing the M-OSU game? Even if this wasn't some sort of bias it shows an absolute gross level of negligence and incompetence. If I were to ref the M-OSU game there is NO WAY that i could keep myself from being biased.
2) Zero - 0 - none - nada - zilp - zilch: The number of OSU penalties. Watch that video, tons penalties were committed and they didn't get a SINGLE call? Even the ones where the refs are literally staring at the penalties as they are taking place? Bullshit! Again, maybe not a fix, maybe just gross incompetence.
3) The DPJ non-touchdown in the wisconsin game. I can see why they called it simultaneous during live action. But video replay showed indisputable video evidence that DPJ's left foot was in bounds and down before his right foot. It's undeniable, if you showed that picture to any single person and asked them "was his left foot down before his right" and they answered anything other than "yes" they would either be lying or in need of a serious mental health evaluation.
There might not be a bias, but if there isn't a bias then there is gross incompetence at a level that just isn't acceptable at they level of money these things generate.
Yeah, Michigan blew their chance by making their own mistakes. And yeah, Ideally a team will play well enough to overcome reffing issues. But to say that reffing doesn't need to be fixed because Michigan needs to be fixed is being intentionally ignorant.

"The time will come when we win decisively..."
Why should Michigan have to be 10-17 points better than the other team to get a victory? Is fair officiating too much to ask? Last year, refs gave Iowa the game with bogus penalties and gave OSU the game by awarding a bogus first down after Michigan had won the game on the field.
Either refs are failing to control their personal bias or the league office is more like WWE than actual athletic competition. Neither situation should be allowed to happen.
November 20th, 2017 at 11:28 AM ^
Yeah, I absolutely hate that narrative. Reffing will never be perfect but it's not really the teams job to overcome reffing. Mistakes are going to happen and teams are going to get screwed from time to time but no team have to overcome their opponents never having obvious penalties called, obvious and undeniable touchdowns denied, or super biased fans being able to ref games.

Wrong, look at all the OSU love every poll. Every blog or ESPN or FOX discussion. They LOVE OSU and Meyer.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:38 AM ^
It doesn't hurt their cause that they have made a habit of winning. Let's not forget that just a few years ago they won the National Championship with a third string QB who's first meaningful snaps and first start ever was the victory over Wisconsin in the B1G championship game.

Oh yeah, if only they would write something about Harbaugh...
November 20th, 2017 at 2:03 PM ^
I think we're talking fans, not the media. The media will always love the current sexy teams and OSU is one of them, unfortunately. OSU, from a fan perspective, is one of the most hated teams in sports and it's their fans who cause such hatred. That and they win a lot, but it's mostly because their fans are inbred, uneducated trash balls.
November 19th, 2017 at 11:41 PM ^
No. I get the feeling that's absolutely true. People hate conspiracy-blaming jackasses and arrogant pricks who think everybody is supposed to give a shit about what your program did 20, 30, or 100 years ago. Do something now if you want to be considered a big boy.

Cousin of Wurst. Both are from Wisconsin.

Because of course there are no conspiracy-blaming jackasses and arrogant pricks in the OSU (or any other school's) fanbase?
Anyway, for one data point, I do know that Texas fans I've met said that they generally had better interactions with Michigan fans at our Rose Bowl with them than they did with OSU fans when they played a year later.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:43 AM ^
It's a fact that Michigan fans are far less likely to shit in someone's cooler than an OSU fan, but back in the Rose Bowl days we didn't have a strong and vocal tin foil hat fan unit.

I don't have the heart to watch the video. I know which one it is, too. I don't know what's worse. The fact that when they scheduled the officiating for this game they didn't think it would be a conflict of interest, the actual game it self, or the fact they reviewed the game and said "meh, it was fine!"
With all of that said, what happened happened. It was last year. If they are still stuck in last year, we are in trouble. The refs didn't make Speight throw a pick 6 and fumble on the 1 yard line.
Hopeful for win, expecting a loss.

November 20th, 2017 at 10:01 AM ^
OSU gets as much benefit of the doubt as Alabama given Urban Meyer is their coach. It isn't automatic, I'll conceed that but if the right things happen OSU will benefit. Specifically OSU, Alabama, and Miami winning out.
Here is the scenario
OSU jumps Auburn (9-3) and Georgia (11-2). They jump ND (10-2) because they are 11-2 and a conference champ. They jump Wisconsin because they won head to head. Now they are sitting at #5 looking up at Alabama, Miami, Clemson, and Oklahoma. Miami beats Clemson in the ACC title then OSU at 11-2 and a conference champ will jump Clemson at 11-2 and not a conference champ. Lo and behold OSU is in the playoff as the #4 seed.
The only hiccup in that plan is if Delaney decides that 13-0 Wisconsin is a sure thing and he tips the scales in the championship game to ensure they win.

you're not wrong, but this thread won't go well for you. I hope the mods cave it fast for your sake.
More to the point, the B1G and Delaney don't care.

B1G and Delaney do not care.

They fined Harbaugh $10K for speaking out after the game. They created a new coach sideline behavior rule, which only gets tokenly enforced, because of it. And, so a five-yard offside call that was created by a false start was turned to half the distance, first down inside the five in the 4th quarter with the Buckeyes trailing when a high school basketball official masquerading as a side judge decided to call a technical on Harbaugh for tossing his playsheets.
No penalties called on Ohio State that day.
Here's the flip side of the call, the crew that worked that game, has gotten one Michigan assignment this season. So in 11 weeks, Dan Capron's crew that used to do three or four Michigan games a year, was reduced to working the Michigan-Minnesota game, and then fucked that one up when they tossed Josh Mettelus out of the game after a Gopher Olineman hit Kinnel in the facemask a couple of times after a third quarter play.
Claiming they wanted to make sure the game didn't get out of hand, they evened up the ejections on the play and threw out Metellus who did not even respond. The next week, the league quietly decided that Mettellus wouldn't have to sit out the first half remainder of that ejection against Maryland.
That crew, allegedly rated last year as the league's best, this year has been sent to Bolivia, working mostly West Division Big Ten games, and not even high profile ones. I wanted to see how the league would respond to the criticism of that crew. And it did.
So, when you say nobody cares. That ain't true at all.

The Iowa game really didn't matter. Beat OSU and we were Big Ten East champs, with a playoff bid in front of us with a win in Indianapolis.
But yeah, that loss caused a portion of the fanbase to place undue expectations on this year's team.
